So I was just browsing a file sharing site and encountered what appears to be the latest Evony ad(I didn't see it posted anywhere in this thread yet) and it features a photo of a woman wearing nothing but panties and covering her breasts with her arms, the text "Come Play My Lord" is written at the top and the green "Play NOW" button is situated under that.
Considering that the ads have now gone to the point of toplesness I'm a little concerned about where this will go next. Anyway seeing as this thread seemed to be mainly about the hilarious advertising campaign I just thought someone might have wanted the update.
P.S. I didn't upload a picture of the ad because while it doesn't show anything particularly explicit it is sorta borderline.
Large, highly visible logo? A brief description of the gameplay? A real picture from the game? This is obviously a fake. The real Evony people wouldn't be so informative.

The thing that bugs me about Evony is that the ads that appear in my browser are now, literally, just a pair of boobs with 'Play Evony' written nearby.
FFS.
I thought the ad was hilarious.

78% of DM's started their first campaign in a tavern. I didn't.
I honestly think they are now doing it to be self-ironic and/or contraversial. I mean, no way they could not know about the backlash etc being caused and still pursue even more silly adds.
I think they are aware of all the 'hype' its creating, and feel their (incredibly pervasive; I've never seen anything like it) add campaign is a huge success.

That's giving them entirely too much credit. The simplest answer is that they're merely shameless.
Sort of like Cartman in South Park. If you lower your standards enough, there's no such thing as bad publicity.
I think the first few lines of this song are applicable.
The song does contain one cuss word in it, so if that offends you don't click on the link. However its not targeted at anyone or any particular group, so if that's the reason you don't like cuss words then feel free to watch anyways. And its after the first few applicable lines anyways.
Only heard crappy, crappier and crappiest stuff about Evony.
Three most annoying things:
1. advertising with assuming that all a human can think about is sex.
2. Then you don't even have nudity. It doesn't even vaguely relate to the adds!
3.Advertises as free, but you have to pay if you want to get anything good in the crappy game.

So, not true. There is no ''max age'' voor video games. >.>
This game makes me want to vomit, for Pete's sake some child might have seen that!
Its not like its going to do any permanent mental damage. Children aren't as mentally fragile or easily influenced as media likes to portray, and while the ads are rather tasteless, in that they imply that everybody is a helpless puppet directed by sexual impulses, seeing them as a child isn't all that bad.
And it's a safe object lesson you can use to show how deceptive online banner ads can be. Immunize them early to the temptation of clicking on them out of curiosity or because of the flashy Flash games on them.

I have my own TV show featuring amazing songwriters and musicians. YouTube clips here.
I'm still very much with you on disliking it. That's why I linked the song, the first three lines totally mock Evony, as Evony advertising is a perfect example for what it is about. Although on a second listening I noticed that there are two swear words, and one is actually pretty early. It probably won't be noticed if you don't know about it or know the song decently already, but it is there.

While I agree with points 1 and 2, I disagree with 3 and the assertion that the game has no redeeming values. While I am as disgusted with their business model and advertising campaign as any, the actual game itself is pretty good and you can do very well without paying a dime if you are active and aggressive.
Check out my review on page 2 of this thread for more details; but for any that assert that Evony is garbage as a game, I invite you to point me to a better free MMO browser game with a graphical civ-style interface. If you do, I'll check it out and get back to you with my comparison.

Do you know if Travian is any good?

Travian isn't too bad. There is also Tribal Wars, and I'm trying to remember a sci-fi one that wasn't bad. I don't really like the genre, so I don't know much about it and only know about a few games.
From what I've heard its much more protectivist of people, and full of political nonsense when you actually want to do things like attack people. Its much more of a game for pansies from what I've heard.
One of the things I liked best about Evony, is that after beginners protection is up (and you can leave it early), it didn't get in the way of my owning people and taking their stuff. Assuming you don't care what alliance you cheese off (I dealt with my share of whiney alliances, who I generally told to stuff it) and your alliances doesn't have too many friendlies to lower your target posibilities, you can have a grand old time. I know I did, I still miss it sometimes.
Here's what I'm wondering: Is the advertising effective? Because, assuming I had no idea what the ads were about, I would think it was some kind of porn and be afraid clicking those ads would download tons of viral bugs into my computer.
In other words, at least from my perspective, those ads are effectively warding me away from even trying the game.

Travian drops Beginners Protection early. You can now start to sack cities, take all their resources, and eventually build siege weapons and start damaging buildings. After that you can expand into more cities, from there you can start to permanently take over other cities. However the advantage is on the defender if they bother to buy up their wall at all.
