I just found this neat tool for viewing exported PMs. So you can easily export (in XML) then delete every one of your PMs to keep your boxes nice and tidy. It's searchable too.
It says it is for phpBB, but I have tested it and it works on this forum (vB).
This thing is basically an .xml reader, so that's the format that you'd have to export your PM's in. And remember where you put them.

Reason: I can't read :P
Whenever I click the link, a login screen shows up. Is there a more direct link to the program you're describing?
Apparently the program vanished altogether.

I believe this means that I should be able to distribute the program without alteration or charge and without claiming ownership. I think that I personally (nothing to do with GiantITP) will find a place to upload the file and provide a link for it unless someone can provide me with a legal or ethical reason not to.
I have this program as well (or one very similar). I've put it up on one of my sites, but I don't think I've got the bandwidth to put the link up publicly. I can send the link by PM if anybody wants it.
This is fantastic. I've been having so much trouble keeping my PM box empty but not losing old info, and still do delete old stuff sometimes. This is perfect!
When you go to your Private Messages, down at the bottom on the right it says "Download all private messages as" and then links for XML, CSV, and Text.
