Re: Have Steam, Will Travel (OR: Team Fortress 2 is Ruining My GPA)
In Left 4 Dead 2, Valve has definitely added more flavor. The whole place just breaths south, and the enemies, weapons, setting, and even musical cues all express the flavor of the area. I like this a lot.
However, only problem I have with Left 4 Dead 2 so far:
The musical cues are nice in that they all have a sort of Southern Twang to them that adds to the flavor.
The problem is that they ALL have that same Southern Twang.
It makes it harder to differentiate between the Tank song, the Horde song, and the Spitter song, all of which are very similar.
I may replace the audios in that case with the original Left 4 Dead songs, just because I am more used to them. I'll see.

Having not played L4D, I actually found the audio cues.. Eh. Kind of.. Annoying..
...Don't hit me!

I thought of another extremely LP-friendly game: Mercenaries 2! Man, that'd be awesome. The amount of horribly painful things you can do in that game and still live is astounding.
Anyway, I want to see you guys chucking civilians off bridges, and when the police come, chuck them off too. THE LINKER COMMANDS IT.
Re: Have Steam, Will Travel (OR: Team Fortress 2 is Ruining My GPA)
Huh. If you go onto your friend's list and look at the game info of anyone in the demo, you'll see the server information.
Strangely, this shows you what Special Infected are currently spawned.
Just looking at this game Arbitrary, Djinn, Dread and Faulty are in and I can that a Spitter and Jockey are spawned.
Oh no, they're dead now.
It's pretty weird.
Re: Have Steam, Will Travel (OR: Team Fortress 2 is Ruining My GPA)
I don't see any special infected information. Do I have to be in game?
Oh, and I'm bored and want to play more demo. If anyone wants to play just message me.

So umm Expert is hard.
In case you were wondering; the door opened, I moved towards it and hit E to close it, a zombie hit me so I didn't make it in and closed it on myself. Then a Hunter got me.

Yeah, I say that. Rather depressing, since we made it so far. I'm still surprised that we died more in the first stage than the second...
Also, Faulty: Watch where you're throwing those Molotovs!
Yep. I died from Faulty's Molotov when he hit a Charger/Tank combo rushing towards me. Still, can't complain: they did manage to take both out.

It did this in the first one, two. Just not during finales.

Quick hypothetical.
Let's imagine that I have money that I could be willing to spend. On a game. A single game. We could also think about the fact that both borderlands and l4d2 look extremely cool, and I keep hearing good things about both of them.
And please, could we imagine someone offering a recommendation for one over the other?
Or a fair comparison, based of off having played both the game and the demo of the game. That could work too.

Either would be greatly appreciated.
I have played both Borderlands and the L4D2 demo (on 360) and i prefer Borderlands.
But then again, i turned off the demo without even one full playthrough in my disgust.

I'd just like to say that Storm was disgusted because the Survivor AI was not up to snuff. To keep in mind: it's a MULTIPLAYER not a SINGLE player game, and I and others have gotten along perfectly well with L4D2's AI.
I would just take what Storm has to say here with a grain of salt before deciding.

The Tank song is the same and the Spitter doesn't have her own song. Only the Witch and Tank do.
They're supposed to tip you off with the sound effects.

I have both Borderlands and the L4D2 demo. I'd put your money in L4D2. Borderlands is fun, but it's not well ported. In addition, L4D2 will have better long-term support and a more substantial player base, meaning you'll always have someone to game with.
Re: Have Steam, Will Travel (OR: Team Fortress 2 is Ruining My GPA)
I know everyone is excited for Left 4 Dead 2 (And why not be?), but just a reminder that the Death Before Dawn Campaign is out, 5 maps, very well done.

You are asking this in the Valve thread, what kinds of answers are you expecting? :P
A couple weeks ago I played L4D for a few nights straight. I never really got to far into it before, and I was enjoying myself. Then Borderlands came out and it utterly engrossed me for a good 2 weeks. I've almost got a level 50 character and still I look forward to my next playthrough.
Then the demo for L4D2 came out this week and I gave it a shot. Honestly I found the movement and gunplay almost a little bit sluggish in comparison.
But, here is how I would break it down: Have at least one friend dedicated to playing Borderlands with you? Get borderlands. This game is crazy fun with friends. Its how I've been playing since I got the game. Absolutely fantastic.
Don't think you could get any friends to play with you? Get L4D2. Game is still great fun with random pubbies, more so than Borderlands I'm guessing (though I have yet to try it).

Speaking of story-ish stuff: did anyone else read all the banter on the walls about carriers?
Any one else worried about our Eight Survivors because of it?
