Oh come now. There's always some way to survive if you start planning early enough (yes, it's possible to back yourself into a 'failure is the only option' situation, but it's hard).
Quick checklist for you: Do you have any of the following within 20 miles of you: A military base, bunker or silo. A highway patrol station. A marina. A fortifiable building (low glass, easy choke points). A nice roof and a ladder. A road that leads to alaska and that won't catch side traffic from major cities? A prison (pref max security)?
If you answered no to all of these questions, get yourself a map.
