Re: Magic: the Gathering IV: "Burn, Mana, Burn" as they used to say
I don't think it's a viable tactic, either.
It would work, but only assuming that your opponent had no Burn spells to hurt you directly, couldn't remove the enchantment, couldn't Bounce it to your hand, couldn't gain life or couldn't make their own creatures bigger (with +1/+1 counters probably being the least controversial way).
One on One, just running at you with 1/1's would suicide them long before they managed to kill you - although that's probably true of any deck that doesn't do anything else either, Hissing Miasma or not
In multiplayer, it's even less likely that BOTH of your opponents' decks would be unable to manage at least one of the things listed above. The only respite you'd get would be if both opponents attacked you equally until you were down to just 2 life, at which point they would also be down to that little and probably very unwilling to attack you, taking themselves out of the game and leaving the other guy as the winner.
Can anyone rattle off some cards that let you play creatures directly under another player's control from your hand? I was rummaging around in Torment and company, as well as Onslaught and company, and there's a creature that reduces your life total to 1, and then when it leaves play, you gain the amount of life you lost.
...I wanna combo that with False Cure. Like, really badly. It's my new pet project.
An easier way would be to make your opponent gain life without that creature, to be honest. Try Skyshroud Cutter, Reverent Silence, Healing Leaves and Natural Spring - the Cutter being REALLY good because you whack your opponent for 5 damage and get a free 2/2 creature into the bargain. That's easily worth 7 mana of anyone's money on turn 2 or 3.
Having said that, this creature of yours intrigues me - what is it called and what exactly does it do?

Sure, it's currently… 6 avatars long. It's no extra trouble to me to just put it on the list – the avatars (well, the humanoid ones, anyways ) are fun, and I work on them when I feel like it, really. So no problem – fire away!
@Wraith: I want to say it's an Orgg, but I'm not sure.
…
Yeah, Soulgorger Orgg. I think I have that card.
It's the counterpart to Worldgorger Dragon, methinks. Such fun cards. ^.^
Except that they suck. Like, really badly.

Correct, Worldgorger Dragon has been banned in Legacy tournaments for being too powerful of a combo piece. Combine it with Animate Dead (or a few other similar spells), and it's a 2-card infinite mana engine for only 2 mana to start. Many decks can consistantly achieve infinite mana on turn 1 with this combo.
Re: Magic: the Gathering IV: "Burn, Mana, Burn" as they used to say
Is it just me, or does UR have a lot of key answers to the Jund deck's advantages? You have Double Negative for the ever amazing Bloodbraid Elf, and you have Swerve for Blighting. Am I missing something, or should XUR be better than its Worlds showing?

Aww, Uncle Festy got in with the answer before I did. Sad panda. So far the idea is thus:
- Turns 1, 2, 3, shenanigans.
- Turn 4 Endless Whispers.
- Turn 5, play Soulgorger Orgg, sacrifice Soulgorger Orgg, give Soulgorger Orgg to opponent courtesy of Endless Whispers. Giggle about it.
- Turn 6 Either kill the Orgg and then drop False Cure in response, or just Bolt/Shock/Whatveryoudarnwellplease the opponent.
Also hilarious, is the idea of making somebody at 1 life, lose 38 life, with only two cards.
Annnnnd Uncle Festy! It would be awesome to get on your waiting list. Do you already have any requests for Balthor the Defiled?
Re: Magic: the Gathering IV: "Burn, Mana, Burn" as they used to say
Oooh, nice cards. Well remembered, Mountainking.
Apart from, as Uncle Festy said, the Orgg being awful!
Even so, the whole premise seems a little bit flimsy. 10 mana over 6 Turns could be put to much better use, and you'd only ever get it to work once. Assuming, of course, someone didn't just Shock you in response to declaring the sacrifice, and such.
Admittedly... it would be VERY funny to see if that 1 time worked perfectly!
VERY brief update on the 'Obsidian Fireheart' deck: Thinking of a Land-Destroying deck. Load up on Stone Rains and Seismic Spikes so that my opponent has no choice but to sit and be burned by the ones he has left, or struggle even harder if they try to Bounce them and lose the counters every turn.
If I can drop a few Flame Waves so that they have to scramble to replay their creatures with just a few malevolent lands, then so much the better.
Ironically, the biggest problem I'll have is finding Red Sweepers that DON'T destroy their burning lands as well as creatures!

Re: Magic: the Gathering IV: "Burn, Mana, Burn" as they used to say
The thing is, aside from me, there is in fact very little burn/instant "deal damage to player" type effects to be found in my meta; at least, not much at instant speed.
Holycrap! I just realized that, this combo can run out for as long as I can kill the Orgg on board/in hand! Whenever the Orgg dies, regardless of who controls it, it still goes to my graveyard (I think! Say I'm right! PLEASE!)... which will re-trigger Endless Whispers and allow me to pop it onto a different opponent's board! *BOUT OF MAD GIGGLING*
