Ahhhh! My Internet-connection went dead for three days. The horror, the horror.

Congrats, Coffee! The good news is that it gets easier. The bad news is that it doesn't get much easier... and the strange thing about love is that you always believe the first is the last and the last is the first.

Now, an evening when your parents and ESPECIALLY your little brother is out of the house (the dog can remain), you invite him over to watch a movie. A horror movie. Drag Me to Hell is a good choice. This gives you plenty of reasons to sit very close to him and hold him for comfort.

Edit: Oh, and BTW, grats on the physics quiz! We'll make a physics-lover of you yet! You just need to read up on some of the more brain-bending physics, like Relativity and Quantum Mechanics.

A lot of good ideas. Zanaril suggested fanfiction as a plot device. Hmmm…Tsukiko writing bad self-insert fanfiction of her interpretation of undead, staring Xykon…has potential. Maybe, later.

Sstoopidtallkid’s idea of Belkar x Roy BDSM intrigues me. I’ve got an idea for the beginning, but I’m not sure what to do next.

ShinyDelusion appears to want “in a musical” as a plot device…of course she’s doing “Cats”.

I’m looking forward to seeing Coffee’s “5-star protection” fic.

Tsukiko x Crypt Thing is also one which is gnawing at me…

But this one:

Is just to reality warping for it not to be written. I think I’ve got the plot for my next multi-part work. Stay tuned for “A Twisted Tail”. (Sorry for the pun) Help! I’m drowning in plot bunnies. Well, more like plot kittens (because believe it or not baby rabbits are also kittens. So know you know. And knowing is half the battle. Hmmm…Vaarsuvius x G.I. Joe from strip 145…Aaaaaaah! Give me some time to write the others first, brain!)

Incidentally, I’m curious as to how long the pun and plot took to become evident in “Maybe He’d Do This”.

Once again, thank you for those who like my fics, though…The Odor…”classy” is an unusual complement to give a crack pairer. I mean, thanks…but I’m a bit confused.

She acknowledges that she's just a toy to Xykon, and then starts almost flirting with Reddy, trying to get a reaction out of him. And she keeps steering the conversation back to what she's going to do and what Reddy thinks of her.

Then when he doesn't react to the bait the way she wants him to (by indicating he hates her or lusts after her or both): glass to the face.

I asked, and he said that they'd prefer it if I didn't. I'm probably just going to move my 'base of story-writing' over to FF.net. Maybe we can start a forum there or something if Roland doesn't like where we're going here? It could be a good compromise.
Seems like a good idea. I only just noticed that FF has a option for user-created forums...

What do you say to changing the thread title to "No, we're not gonna stoop to shipping"?

Taekwondodo, I thought the IanXSnarl fanfic was adorable, in it's own odd way.

Sereg, loved your little bits as usual.

Water-Smurf, I regret to admit I haven't gotten to look through your newest works recently. I will soon, though, as you're easily the best writer here.

EvilRoeSlade, nice first piece, and welcome to the madhouse.

Finally, after a lot of delays and false starts to make sure everything sounded right, I have

All in all, I was pleased with how this chapter turned out. There is one thing that bothers me though.

That wouldn't work; the dog would try to intervene.

Pfft. Wisconsin just wishes it could be Minnesota. And nice fic. I'm really enjoying it.

And congrats, Coffee! I say since October is an acceptable amount of time to like someone without telling them. It took me two years, and when I finally worked up the nerve, I found out he'd left five minutes earlier. D'oh.

Nathander: Very well done as usual, enjoyed it thoroughly. A few minor nitpicks, though.

First, as much as it was a sweet moment when Miko realized how soft Therkla's hands were, they probably wouldn't actually be soft. Not because she's a half orc, but because she spends most of her time holding weapons, pulling herself up over walls, climbing, etc. Her profession is really hard on her hands (and the rest of her!), but on the other hand (ha! a pun!), magical healing may remove scars and other blemishes, which is usually how I run it in campaigns. Judging by how O-Chul looks, it doesn't seem to work that way in the OotSverse, though.

Second, just a formatting issue. The little girl voice in Miko's head is a bit confusing to read. Personally, I think it'd look a little cleaner if the things it was saying were in italics, while everything else wasn't. example:

Run back into your hole, a small girl’s voice echoed in the depths of Miko’s mind. Hide and don’t come back you sinner you fool you murderer

Although, looking at it again with what seems to be an intentional lack of punctuation, maybe this is just a stylistic choice on your part. It still makes it a bit harder to read, though.

Meh, just minor complaints. I think it's way better than my attempts to make Miko likable, which means I'll probably drop that fic for now in favor of finishing It All Started With A Kiss.

I suggest getting one. The signing up is easy, and then you can post your stories up there. The OotS section is a little barren. And that way, you can track the stories you like.

Quote:
It may be for the best, but how about trying to see if you can stick within the rules first too.

And in any case, oftentimes allusion and implication can be so much creepier and squick-inducing than saying it outright.
I speak from experience when I say that I don't do well with censors. I'm going to keep pushing the line, whether I mean to or not, and my sense of politeness dictates that I shouldn't do that if the people who run the place ask me to stop. It's their playground, and the Internet is vast--the OotS forum isn't the only forum that I can post my stories. I chafe under censors, there are kids running around here, and I've been asked to keep it PG-13. If I can't do that, the only polite thing to do is to sweep all my stuff over to FF.

And I don't want to try staying firmly in 'completely family-friendly' zone because I've noticed that I'm already on the verge of a breakdown, so I don't want to encourage it.

Besides, it's not like I'm leaving the playground. I'm just moving my writing.

On a related note crack pairings had invaded my dreams! Dreamed about cross between "Dumped on the Rooster" and "Of All the Ways to Lose Someone" (hmm... both W-S fics). Deidre was at the assembly and recognises Redcloak (dunno how she got there). She panics, wonders if she really killed him and so goes after him to kill him. Felt like a good story at the time and I actually dreamed I had woken up and wrote the idea down. Then actually woke up and said "Did I just dream I wrote that? Crap."

Tell me, is that a bad sign?
Cool! I'm invading people's dreams!

Don't worry. I'm sure there's a room in the nut house next to Deirdre. We can share it.

It could be easier. That way, we wouldn't have to be worried about kids stumbling on us. (Or at least not as much...) And it offers a format more designed for writing and the discussion of writing, though I'm not sure how the visual artwork would be displayed... maybe a connected community on DeviantArt? That way, we wouldn't have to worry about stepping over the line and the mods wouldn't have to worry about keeping an eye on us.

Just an idea to throw out there.

Come with me! To FF.net!

Or you could just sign up and get email alerts when I update. That works too. Besides, it's only my writing that's moving. If you guys don't want to start a forum on FF, I'm still going to be talking here, but probably not as much, since it would be in poor taste to discuss my own work when I specifically moved it so the forum wouldn't have to worry about possible censor-slippage.

Actually, the only downside to moving my stuff to FF is that I worry if I'll be able to stay motivated if I do or not. Part of the reason that I was able to keep it up here was because I always had encouragement, comments, and support to help me. When I don't have that sort of environment, I usually go through 'bad self-esteem' fits, stop writing that particular story for a while, then abandon it. I'm a little worried that it will happen with this.

What you could do is post your work on FF, like you said, and then post your PG-13 friendly stories here as well. That way, you're still contributing to this thread. I mean, look at how many stories you have made on the index.

Let me tell you that it was your Orphans stories that kept me coming back to this thread, well done.

You know, I just realized that despite being presumably sexually active, Lien has no canonical pairing. This requires further contemplation.

Wow. Just... wow.

Woooooow....

I just spent the last hour reading this thread, starting at page 10 where I left off...

Again... Woooooowwwww......

Okay... Let me try to... find words...

Um... Right. So. I'm still here. And I'm still willing to write regular crack fics. Within the rules, of course. I forgot most of my ideas, though... I do recall Celia x Thog, and of course, V x Cain.

Anybody got anything they'd like to see me take a crack at? If only to get this thread back on track and make things less awkward?

Edit: I made a hot pocket over an hour ago, right before I started reading this thread. I just rediscovered its existance... XD

The Eye of Fear and Flame has a hot pocket just waiting for Tsukiko to discover. XD

Alternatively, Sabine/Crystal while a tied-up Haley watches.

I don't know what's stranger. The fact that I actually tried that, or the fact that it worked...

Okay, I'm afraid I can't come up with anything for that. At least, anything allowed on this site...

@Nathander Thanks for the compliment, I enjoyed your latest chapter as well. Don’t worry about Lien, while she came off as a little harsh, that harshness is understandable.

@Closak It was funny, you made me smile.

@Lycan 01 I’m…not sure what a hot pocket is (though I get the basic idea). Still a fun fic though.

Alright. This morning I got another idea that I just had to write. Technically, this kind of thing has already been done by Mariel Dragon but this went in a different direction, though I will admit that I got inspiration from the same source. Warning: This is exactly what it says on the tin:

Mary Sue’s Adventure with the Oots:

Spoiler

Alright my promised part one of “A Twisted Tail”:

Spoiler

Ok. I’ll admit that I chose to end there for my own convenience, but more will come.

A hot pocket is like a stuffed pastry (Freezer food) that you heat up in the oven or the microwave for a quick snack.

...Unholy abomination that is Mary-sue! Kill it with fire! The cleansing fire!

Yeah...it was cathartic to write something that terrible, but don't worry, she won't return in any of my fics (at least not intentionally)

As for the hot pocket, thanks for the info, there's certain things that we don't get (or call a different name) in my country.

Are you sure we can't beat her to death with a blunt object?

Can't Haley use her as target practice?

She's already been brutally bludgeoned to death with a blunt instrument, no worries. *hides petunia pot* [/Whodunnit reference]

You call that a snack? I'd call that lunch.

Tasty lunch.
