I don't see why it's "difficult to care" about a cast of realistic and well-written characters, Q.
It's difficult to care (or at least, by me, because I'm apperently a moron who enjoys nothing but copy-pasted one-note characters who scream out the goodness or evilness of their side 24-seven and wear either white robes or black armour and that storylines can't be too well written or they'll make my brain hurt and I think anything that even remotely represents real intentions of realistic people is terrible writing because the only book I've ever read in my entire life is a Sonic The Hedgehog comic book with crayon drawings all over it) because the sides in a TOTALLY PERFECT "grey and gray" story, one in which both sides get equal coverage in the story, they're both the same.
What I mean to say is, do I read A story to see the evil, genociding, humans defeat the evil, child-raping, village pillaging, human enslaving aliens? Or visa versa? Do a read a story about the great, orphan helping, charity-donating angels take on the other great, orphan helping, charity-donating angels? See, what I'm trying to say is that I find when both sides are exactly the same level, I don't care about the outcome of it. Do I worry about how Cindy the orphan is going to die if she loses the fight between Mike the orphan who will also die if he loses.
Wow, these are pretty weird examples.
But it has nothing to do with how well-written and how well-rounded the characters might be. What matters is that one side is one that we want to see come out victorious, and are willing to read long walls of text to see if they do!
Now, if it was "grey against DARKER grey" then we have a greater good to route for. Both sides can have some good intentions and be interesting and all that, but one still needs to be better then the other, otherwise we (or perhaps, just me) don't really pick a side and therefore have no interest in seeing which wins and reading to find out.
Personally, a story where, say, a murdering criminal needs to step up and take out a super-villain before they commit massive genocide sounds like a pretty friggen awesome story.
I liked the show Dexter, if that helps anybody understand what the heck I'm talking about. He's a serial killer, but still is a lovable character who we know is better then the other serial killers he kills.
All of that explaination aside, and the reason I didn't give any particular examples from THIS fancomic is because I'm not reading it too closely and am trying to avoid a research failure. I, in absolutely no way at all, DISLIKE this comic or it's premise. I was simply stating an opinion about ALL perfect "grey and gray" stories as a general rule and what I like more in a story. I think I will stop commenting now, because there is absolutely no need to complain about things you don't like when everybody else clearly does like this. It's trolling, and I am not trying to do that and will not even do anything close to it anymore. Everybody, please enjoy the story.

It's fun to have somebody to root for. There is a reason 99% of fiction out there has a good guy and a bad guy. Sometimes the Bad Guy has his reasons and the Good Guy is unsympathetic, but you usually have a side you're clearly supposed to be supporting because it's fun, it makes a good story, and you get a nice happy feeling when you see evil being thwarted.
I'm not doing that here for a variety of reasons, but I don't expect everybody to like that. If I ever get to the point where I expect universal admiration and applaud for every aspect of my comic please punch me in the face.
Anyway, I'm drowning in work right now and shouldn't be wasting time on the intarnetz.

I would suppose that even though it's gray v. gray (which I think is an excellent premise) most of us have a side which we hope will win simply because of our personal preferences- I know that I certainly have a favorite.
If we took a poll, I wonder if it would split 50/50...
My prediction is that preference for the sides probably would split about 65/35 given that many Westerners seem to prefer anarchy or triumph of the "underdog" and this website apparently has a fair amount of people who live in the Western hemisphere... but who knows.

I vote for the side with the officers and stuff. The not-revolutionaries.
You mean the Loyalists. So Far all named Loyalists have been DSF, but not all of them will be, hence why I don't just call that side DSF.
Speaking of which, this guy has been mentioned, but not shown yet. He'll definitely show up before too long, maybe even in this chapter (I'm not quite sure yet). He's got a charactersheet too, click his portrait to check it out

Comic Up. The title is more for me than anybody else. Crowd scenes are hard to draw when it isn't abunch of people in uniform, so I tend to avoid them, something I found odd considering this chapter is about a riot.

For Rebellion Revolution I decided the best thing to do was to establish a regular update schedule, the idea being I'd build up a buffer. That didn't happen, I'd just make the comic and sit on it until Monday. For me, it's nice in some ways to know that I need it done by Monday, but not before then.
However, if I switched back to a "When I have time to get it done/feel like it" Schedual, shooting for once a week at least, there is a chance that I'll get multiple comics done per week, but it will be on a random schedule.
So, dear readers, should I stick to the Every Monday schedule, or switch to a random one?

I find myself not caring much about those characters 2... But I think that is because it's a complex interaction with both sides and I'm trying to care too much in the first 3 movies of the movie. I believe I will care about some of them in... maybe 10 or 20 comics.

That said, Next week is going to be a two-comic week, finishing up Chapter One: The Jackal Laughs.
After that, I have two options. Option one is to jump right into Chapter 2: The Foxhound Howls. Option Two is to provide some background, a mini chapter called "Why Things Are", that describes the recent history of The Republic of Cardinia, Talk about the Long War, what the Directorate is and why so many people hate it, It would be an Infodump in the style of the one i did for Vox Populi (for those longtime fans of BRComics), it wouldn't be more than a few strips, and I might be able to get them out on an accelerated schedule.
So Yeah, do you guys want some Background Info or should we just plow ahead.

As I said above, you can probably expect a comic this Thursday, wrapping up chapter one. I still want imput for the question above. Do you guys want a short chapter with some background on the Republic of Cardinia (You know, to put some stuff into context, like what the hell the Directorate is, why Cardinia still calls itself a republic, where all these ex soldiers are coming from, ect.), or should we plow straight ahead to the next chapter.

And thus, I bring you COMICS!
...Maybe I shouldn't update in the middle of the night.
So, that was chapter one, what do people think? I'm looking for feedback so I know how to make future chapters better, or at the very least not worse. Do you like the way the story is progressing? Did it move too fast? Do you feel lost? Do you like the art?
This is the end of the first chapter, and with it, the stuff I've really planned out, so if you're ever going to offer opinions, nows the time.
And speaking of opinions, I'd like more than one vote concerning my question above. Do you guys want an expositionatory infodump to help provide context, or do we move straight on into chapter 2: The Foxhound Howls.

As an apology for the potential dely, here's some art for you guys. Major Claude Naymark. In a way, he's responsible for the death's of both James' father and Maria's parents.
