I've noticed that whenever anyone mentions mind control, a their post appears to be edited to the effect that there is no such thing.

While obviously there is no mind control and I will go back to my fun, I'm really curious as to whether this is:

1. Mods messing about while reading the forums.
2. A joke that has spread enough people create the effects for themselves.
3. A find-and-replace script.

There is no mind control, citizen. Go back to your fun. To be honest, it was a joke started by Roland, and people just copy it now.

The "There is no mind control, citizen. Go back to your fun." meme got started by Roland posting it as part of an official mod-reply to a thread. Because there is no mind control, and we should return to our fun.

This meme is a good deal more tolerated than the fake-{Scrubbed} meme... possibly because Roland finds it amusing.

Ah, so it is similar to the prohibition on discussing long, yellow berries.

If I were Rawhide I would have linked to the relevant discussion which got closed with, among other things, a prohibition on the discussion of Bananas. I think it was in a thread that was trying to discuss the banned, only the OP had misspelled Banned as "Banana."

Some days I think the mods are all having way too much fun policing the playground. Then I notice how much spam they clean up and realize it isn't all fun and games.
