Since Darkcomet really really really hates apocaplots, you really should not send your book at his characters, ED. Check the table below and look for players who are more receptive.
Spoiler
How do you feel about apocalypse plots as a player (saving the world), rather than as a GM (bringing teh apocadoom)? Rate your opinion on a 0-5 scale.
0 - I hate them! I would be happy if there were no more of them ever.
to
5 - I love them! It wouldn't be Acro if the world wasn't continually in danger! Saving the world is my favourite plot!
((And no, I'm not suggesting a blanket ban on them or anything. Just gathering data for some nefarious purpose my own curiousity.))
The book is not fully active yet. It is out to gather more power, though. So, everyone has some time... and Random Encounters increases it's options.
It waits for stuff to happen to it... for now...
Great yet you tell us not to get any ideas as it's PL 11. Woopie Quite frankly I find the very idea of such a thing quite repulsive. I have no issues with Apocolypse plots, what I do have an issue with is things that are oh so powerful. Frankly if it's the ultimate book of magic I might as well never play a magic user while it's around. After all won't it just be able to subvert my powers, oh look someone is trying to resist might as well just wipe them away, and destroy them utterly, what avoidance what is that.
I like a good plot but having something that has the potential to be that powerful is just ridiculous. The most fun Apocalypse plots are the ones that are more fragile in the final stages, and it's a desperate battle between heroes and villains to try and prevent something from going off. Sure the villain can be powerful but.. this seems ridiculous.
That's kinda the problem if the players who don't like Apocalypse plots don't get involved and the book succeeds what then, are they just going to keep playing and ignore it? If so as Morty said not much of an apocalypse plot eh?
I try to burn the book. LOL NOE CAN'T DO THAT IT'S MAGIC.
I fire magic lightning at it. LOL NOE CAN'T DO THAT IT'S MAGIC.
I stab it? LOL NOE CAN'T DO THAT IT'S MAGIC.
I inject lighter fluid into my bladder, urinate on the book, and throw a match. LOL NOE CAN'T DO THAT IT'S MAGIC.
Oh, by the way. Spoiler alert...
YET AGAIN, THE APOCALYPSE WON'T HAPPEN.
The plot is a work in progress... I have yet to decide many things about it... How exactly it happens, for example.
I do know that the book is going to be in the center of it. What exactly it's powers are will be determined by what happens to it...
And because it doesn't seem fair to drop a plot on others when you're not wanting one yourself... up my willingness for Apocolypse plots to 4. Drifter will participate in them.
PS: Drifter said "Bored" in the tavern. Is a random encounter coming there? Since the book is away, it's power will not grow unless Turtle takes it there.
PPS: Errr... the markets are in Inside, yes? Because that's where Turtle is taking the spellbook...

You know, it's possible to have Apocolyptic Characters without having an Apocolyptic Plot. I've done it before.

1. Random encounters come when someone has the urge to run a random encounter. They aren't scheduled or anything. Don't expect any from me tonight. Spoons are low.
2. Yes, the markets are Inside. But the player who usually runs them isn't online yet, so Turtle is caught in a batch of deadtime on the way.
The rating system
1.Defensless (Lvl 0)
2.Civillian (Lvl 1-3)
3.Adventurer (Lvl 4-8)
4.Hero (Lvl 9-12)
5.Great Hero (Lvl 13-20)
6.Hero of Legend (Lvl 21-30)
7.Demi God (Lvl 31 plus)
8.Lesser God
9.Greater God
10.God-killer
11.Forget about it
There is a reason why PL 11 is called forget about it. PL 10 is a a god-killer both are ridiculous, and while I enjoy a fun Apocalyptic plot I'm afraid I'm simply not going to be able to involve my characters in this as the most powerful of my characters is between 4 and 5. I see no reason to kill off the characters I enjoy playing by involving them in a plot that seems like it is likely to be unfairly powerful.
Heck I've got a villain now who is in the PL 4-5 range and while their goal may not be to end the world it is to take over the world. So, someone doesn't need to be really powerful to accomplish something. You're book could for example possess the knowledge of a way to end the world, and a ability to try and control people who come near it, this would be a neat plot as as people tried to stop the person who has fallen under the books thrall they risk falling into it's thrall themselves and trying to end the world. And you know there you have a maybe PL 5 character that could pull off the end of the world
Edit: Wait, Ashna's still meant to be Good, right? A member of GloG? She hasn't fallen to the Dark Side or anything without me noticing.
No, she's not. No, she gave some money to help with building the new base and left. And it's more of a slow-walk-down-a-hillside to the Dark Side now that Happy and Runner aren't around to encourage her being good, but yes.

You read as aggressive. But I seem to think you usually do. So that might just be the two of us.

For reference...
Thryza: 4/5
Vocusta: 4/5
Blah blah blah uninteresting four-fives.
Carrion: 8/7.5. To expound: Carrie is a lesser deity of death. She is a kind and compassionate one, a sort of sisterly guide to the next world. I try to use her responsibly.
Uh... I don't think any of my other characters are really much more than four or five... whatever.
EDIT: DC, I'm not sure where to put Dr. Xanthin when I start posting with her.
NOTE: Beans is kind of an idiot. :P
She's finishing up some weapons' designs and stuff, or rather, she will be when I post her.
Erm I added this on after I posted, so it likely went unnoticed.

And you know there you have a maybe PL 5 character that could pull off the end of the world, course PL 5 would assume it had a fair bit of it's own magical power besides just charming. So spells and the like, perhaps you could also give it some way to find out what's happened in the past or something to represent how it's a lore book

Ah. I'll probably make an independent thread for that when it seems to be ready, okay?
So, EleventhHour, since you're the one with a final say in the matter, how is it going to be with the retcon in which Dipsnig is as smart as he's supposed to be and doesn't shoot Elly?

I'm leaving it up to you and Magtok, I've given up on caring about how it will go either way, after thinking about it.
(IE : Stupid Godling War, or no chance to have fun trying to wreck a place.)
So, whatever you guys want is fine with me. I've moved on.
oh , and beans, mind if Yamako and Wenomir join your little infiltration squad? Yamako is a shadowrun character, and infiltrating megacorps is what they do best ^_^_^ ....damn, I think my smiley mutated.....
