Something has been bugging me for quite some time now. In comic 722, Elan pulls out his trusty rapier to try and fight his way out, but...where does he get the rapier from? Back in #714, we see him clearly get knocked out by the half-dragon, and he drops his rapier to the ground and it is never picked back up (despite the fact that the rapier is somehow missing from the very next panel of art).
You would think that, even if he did have a spare rapier, he'd have been searched by the bounty hunters and the guards before being let into the kingdom, let alone into the Empress of Blood's Throne Room. There is a non-core spell that lets a bard summon a mundane weapon, but that's both non-core and a spell, which Elan does not appear to cast.
Likewise, Haley does not have her weapon (the bow), even though she actually had the opportunity to pick it back up off-screen; somehow I doubt Elan suddenly invested enough skill points to out-do Haley on a slight of hand check made to conceal a weapon.
So, where does he get the rapier from? I'm curious.
hammerspace. (its diffrent from trouser space becuse hammerspace is a pocket dimetion often used by anime folk to draw random objects out from nothing behind their backs)
Enor picks up the rapier between panels, Elan steals it back while he is confused.
Easily believable. Weapons tend to sell nicely.

The theory of general relativity postulates that space and time are contiguous, related dimensions; at fast enough plot speeds "hammerspace" disappears entirely.
So when Elan pulled out his rapier, those events were occuring in hammertime.

Owwww.
Anyway, I thought the "grabbed it from the confused Enor" was a good theory, but a quick WoG and "HA" he had a hidden rapier.

Epic win.
...or should I say, Giant win?

Hey, we actually got the Giant to post. I'd call that a win for us overall. :)

Well I was just going to say "Just repeat to yourself 'it's just a comic strip, I should really just relax." but given that The Giant has already provided a response I'll just keep quiet. Which, of course, required an entire paragraph to explain for reasons unbeknownst to me.

Oh, man.... now that the Giant has posted definitively on the matter, I don't get to expound with great detail on how this could have easily been explained by the previous work of the 'Rapier Fairy'.
Somehow I'll have to carry on.
That being said, I'm now hoping Elan will be able to retrieve his second rapier once this business with the Blood Empress and his father has been taken care of (or as a part of it)!
You mean his "No celebrating over your victory of drawing the Giant out" comment? Followed by the locking of the thread?

What kind of stupid bounty hunters don't disarm their captives? Well Enor I can understand, but Gannji seemed kind of smart for a second.
Gannji was preoccupied and Enor was in charge of Elan.
