I think that what consenting yeast cultures and sugars do in the taproom is nobody else's business, and as long as it's not harming children fermentations of all kinds should be readily available to those who want them.

Fermentations of all kinds are available to those who want them. That's why we have both ale and lager, in addition to whatever other types of beers may or may not exist. Fact is the beer freedom movement is long over.

Yeast colonies aren't sentient. And even if they were, top/bottom fermenting is well defined. I don't get to just decide I'm African American when I'm clearly not, so yeast colonies shouldn't get to decide they are top fermenting when they are clearly not.

It was suggested, but no one likes being reminded of Kentucky.

Come to think of it, I'm-a be visiting some distilleries soonish...

I find it amusing that our offtopic ramblings have provided an actual allegory to what the thread is ACTUALLY about. XD

Also, can I quote that?

The following message is deliberately silly. It isn't meant to be aggressive, offensive or even serious in any way or shape.

Why do people always underestimate fungi ? Well, I don't want to hear you complain the day a mutated slime mold destroys the human civilization in a matter of months and takes over the world as a single, self-sufficient, hyperintelligent, planet-sized superorganism. Though I guess you'll be too busy anyway, screaming in terror and pain as the deadly spores invade your organism and lead you to an unspeakable doom.

You don't realise that there's a difference between fermentational orientation and fermentational behavior. They do not always correlate. What if the yeast is closeted ?

Well, on a slightly more topic-related note...

I usually don't call or communicate with my direct family unless absolutely necessary. This being during a tropical storm, I made an exception because, jerks though they may be, they're still my family.

What I got were some...pretty precision-targeted types of insult from my brother.

I'm thinking he's starting to get privy to my situation.

But oh well, that's what private property and guard dogs are for.

*hugs*

I don't suppose you could break them separately? So tell your mum you have a girlfriend and then say later that she's transsexual?

Also, Lioness has decided to study gender studies at uni :)

I don't have feelings? ;~; That makes me feel really sad.

*Hugs Jacklu* I can't say that I know your mother, but I know mothers in general, and they are usually very understanding of their children. That said, Serp is possibly right, and it might be easier to first tell her that you are in a relationship, and then later you can tell her the rest.

Plus, as someone attracted to more than one sex, I am definitely attracted to everyone. Ever. Even inanimate objects, like radiators. They're always so... hot.

Didn't you know? Gender studies is supposed to be biased against men unless they're queer unless the queer studies department has managed to escape from the gender studies peeps, in which case, yeah....

Universities...

It's a matter of self selection. Who really wants to teach gender studies? Misogynists and misandrysts of course! For some reason the later get hired.
