Ongoing Games (In-Character)Play-by-post games are going on in this forum as we speak (well, read). All threads on this board are actual games, so please, only post on a thread if you are a player of that game.
You have no frickin clue what that is beyond a general idea of 'it has existed before and really shouldn't ever have existed at all'. Which is probably a given, considering it looks something like a cross between a human with a bad rash and an octopus.
"Let's try gently, one last time, before we enter by force" Audric says "Why don't you try calling to them? They might recognize your voice" As he says this, however, he steps closer to Llaars, hand on the pommel of his sword.

The door opens, and a thin blue-white mist sparkling with multicolored lights pours out of the door. You can see a tall, stately woman in a blue robe standing in the center of the hall leading in. To her side is a shorter, plumper, woman, lying there as still as a corpse. The tall woman is incanting something. "-ewha, ssur ORTUN." Her voice echoes and resonates in your minds as well as your ears.
The flesh begins to slough off the shorter woman's corpse. She gets up. Or rather, her skeleton gets up, leaving the empty shell of flesh and skin behind like a disgusting rag. Bits of muscle still cling to the skeleton, and it's eyes burn with infernal blue fire.
"Is this all the resistance the brave and powerful paladins can muster?" the robed woman says, laughing coldly in that odd voice that speaks through your mind and ears simultaneously. "Pathetic. You think you have a hope against me? You are wrong. I am Iil'ssaran, Disciple of Iil'xaatha! I have waited a thousand years for this battle, and you will not deny it to me!"
"If you wish a battle, I'm not the one who'll deny it to you, abomination." Audric says, preparing to attack. "Still, a thousand year? To battle one single paladin?" he taunts "There is a temple full of us - you just had to come knocking, you coward."

The skeleton moves forward and slashes at Llaars with its claws (shown in the above post). And misses horribly, slashing about 5 inches in front of Llaars.
Rowan's blow connects, and the thing, whatever it is, panics. It makes another attempt to sunder Rowan's greatsword. It misses by a mile, and the blade of its greataxe hits the ground with a thunk. Now fully panicking, it moves backwards, provoking attacks of opportunity from Rana, Rowan and Shadow.

Antal's turn, but Rowan, Rana, and Shadow can make AOOs.
Audric moves past Llaars, stopping on the right of the skeleton.
((Ajadea, apply the following only if it makes sense for him to know-I figured it does, with the paladin training and all , and undead being one of the effects of powerful magic - otherwise he'll make a standard attack.))
"Stand back, in Aldaran's name" he says, with a clear and authoritative voice. He brings his hand forward to touch the skeleton.
((touch attack - (1d20+4)[16] If it hits, Lay on hands for all 9 hp.))

As it attempts to back away, Rowan smashes into it's chest with the flat of her blade, sending it flying back 5 feet before it collapses, very clearly unconscious, in a heap of slimy armor which, now that you notice, is slick with purple-tinged blood.
Audric and Llaars
Spoiler
The skeleton crumbles to dust in a flash of golden light.
(1d8)[3]
Iil'ssaran doesn't seem to care much that her skeletal minion has just crumbled into little pieces. She merely laughs and points at you. "Esardun metom." she intones, flicking her fingers. Four missiles of crystalline blue force spring into existence. Three slam into Audric, the fourth hits Llaars.
Llaar's fist connects squarely with Iil'ssaran's nose, and the cartilage and bone snaps, breaking her nose. She howls in rage as blood begins to flow down her face.
It's an abomination against the natural order and all that is pure in the world. It might have been human at one point, but now it looks like a badly beaten up human with a squid for a head that ran through a field of poison oak.
Rana wrinkles her nose in disgust. "Whatever this is, it's not human. At least not anymore. I don't know anything more about it, but I suspect that it is related to the magic we're investigating."
(OOC: the cat is still in the alley, right? If not, ignore this next bit.)
She turns back to the cat, and seems to speak to it again.
Ajadea
Spoiler
"Do you know anything about this creature? Have you seen something like this before?"
Oh, okay then. (wait, that's a bad thing, why am I smiling? )
Ajadea and Llaars
Spoiler
Audric staggers backwards when he is hit by the bursts of energy: it's pretty clear that he has been hit hard. Hovever, he doesn't think for a second about retreating - not with Llaars still in the fray. He draws his sword, running towards Iil'ssaran and stopping on Llaars' side.
"Aldaran guide my hand" he prays, as he has been taught, swinging his sword with all his might towards the woman.
