Re: Dwarf Fortress III: Instant Fun : Just Add Magma
Dwarf Fortress is ruining my life. There once was a time I went to bed. That time is in the past now. I'd say more, but, the more time I spend typing, the more time I'm not playing.

A brave soul by the name of TroZ_shack over at the Bay12 forums has created a mod that export DF maps into Minecraft, wherein which you can explore your first in a first person manner. To echo what has been said repeatedly over there, My head just exploded. For the first time since I found Minecraft, I actually mourn the fact that i cant afford the pay version, due to being broke and in the process of moving. Many of the older EPIC forts have already been converted and screen-capped. Including Bloodfist and Nist Akath.
TL;DR Minecraft as a Dwarf Fortress Visualizer!

Re: Dwarf Fortress III: Instant Fun : Just Add Magma
Hi guys!
Anyway, help! I'm playing in a succession game, and it seems some of a dwarves have a bad case of the herpaderps. They are hungry, but they keep canceling eat: could not find path. It started with just a few, but it's spreading. I've tried forbidding and unforbidding doors, drafting and undrafting them, giving them burrows (which actually got made it worse), and forbidding all the cavern levels. What should I do?
Re: Dwarf Fortress III: Instant Fun : Just Add Magma
One prominent food room in the center of my base, with several open doors leading to it, and with a score of barrels with prickle berries, plump helmets, horse meat, and other stuff. I've disabled all burrows.
Spoiler
Here is my fort so far. This is the only floor I have used, the other one just has a couple smelters. (the aboveground also has a small prickle berry farm)
Re: Dwarf Fortress III: Instant Fun : Just Add Magma
Is the food room the one with all the X's in it? Because if so, its only entrance appears to be blocked by the structure in the room immediately above it...

Stairs where? The ones on the barrel pile are the ones that are hungry. Does constructing stairs reset pathfinding?

EDIT: Sorry, I don't use tilesets. The X's are bins, the division symbols are barrels. There are some bins in the food pile, that's because I don't have a gem stockpile yet. I don't know why they're there.

The "Edited in magma for convenience" might be the root cause of this bug. If nobody has given a good answer for how to fix the problem by the time I have the time to do so, I'll take a look and see what I can find.
Re: Dwarf Fortress III: Instant Fun : Just Add Magma
I loaded it up and looked at the error log. They are trying to path somewhere else once they have the food and it is unreachable. I think whoever added teh magma fubared the dining room designations. Unfortunately my old DF cheat tools were for 40d. I have no way of locating those coordinates to tell you for sure what building it is. All I know is that it's calling it Mill Building. Not sure what that is means.

Re: Dwarf Fortress III: Instant Fun : Just Add Magma
Would a new dining room fix the problem? Since I have tried cheating all of once(and that world was filled with flying ambushers who would get stuck and have to be killed by firing a bajillion bolts at their faces, so I don't even know how it works), I have no idea of the scope of things going wrong(aside from that people who hack the game tend to make things screwy. I believe Maxymiuk mentioned pacifist militaries and forever children.)
Re: Dwarf Fortress III: Instant Fun : Just Add Magma
Guys, I found the problem. I discovered that the guy in the succession before me forgot to deconstruct the wagon. It was still assembled, and on a z level and area far removed from the main base. I deconstructed it and the dwarves started eating again.
I had to facepalm, but everything seems okay now, except for the trolls. Thanks for the help!
Edit: also the meeting hall/sand collection area was messing people up, apparently. Don't get that.
Double edit: I reloaded and the problem was back, and deconstructing the wagons and eliminating the zones didn't help. I then destroyed some of the stairs leading into the underground caverns, which fixed it (and saved me from troglodites) but I lost a dwarf in the process.
Re: Dwarf Fortress III: Instant Fun : Just Add Magma
I've got a small pile of corpses on my weapon traps, and I've designated the bodies for dumping, but the dwarves aren't dumping them. Are they just busy, or is there something I need to do. Any ideas?

Are the traps inside or on the surface? If they're on the surface you'll have to set the general order that allows your dwarves to pick up stuff from outside before they'll do anything with them, I think.
