I'm not sure what standard name we've been using for Tarquin's Ioun-Stoned Companion. Also keep an eye out for Tarquin's Triceratops Mount, which is likely to make more appearances.

Is it consistent to assume this Allosaurus is the same one we've seen before when we didn't give the Ranch Dressing Elemental two appearances because we didn't have any evidence that the first one was the same as the second one?

Plus, remember the other allosaurus was being held back for a few weeks to stop it from getting overplayed. I doubt they are the same.

This doesn't follow. If Tarquin has decided that the arena/circus-goers aren't going to see the allosaurus for a few weeks, it makes perfect sense to use it on a military operation away from the city - it would be a waste of resources just laying around making no profit. If you know the circus ain't going to use it, you might as well loan it out for the period.

I don't think it's the same one from before. Well, could be, but there's no evidence.

After all, there are two allosaurs on this page. We know for a fact that one of them is a previously unseen allosaur. Why assume that the other one is the one from the games? Just by its color? If we can see one new allosaur, why not two? Have we heard about an allosaur shortage in the EoB?

If four more allosaurs come out of that gate, will it still seem like one of them must be the one from the games?

(I'd also question the wisdom of using the same large dangerous carnivore in military operations and the circus -- seems like the latter might undermine the training from the former. But perhaps not. That's just speculation.)

I would agree that the allosauri are sufficiently generic that we can't identify them. If Tarquin were seen riding one, and then again seen riding one in his next appearance, sure, that's his personal mount allosaurus. But not just one that happens to look similar to one we've seen in a completely different context.

Honestly, I see no reason to not add this. There is no reason to believe they are different persons, considering they are similar in every way.

Well, I think The Giant would use same Allosaurus design twice (like what he did with all other dinosaurs) if that's just standard design. Instead he created another with a distinctive design. I'll delete it if see another one with same design, but for now I prefer it to stay. Ofcourse, it's just me...

That's a good argument with respect to creating distinctive designs. Still, it seems to me like they have the same body shape, stripe pattern, etc, with the only difference being skin color...?

But, again, I do think you make a nice point.

    Agggggg.

Knew someone would beat me too it. I'm up to Pg 16 on my count.

    Sigh.

Suppose I could do a double check. Especially on that <EXPLETIVE DELETED> masquerade.

Here's what I have so far so we can cross reference. Especially that masquerade scene:

    Spoiler
    Show
Pg 1: Elan, Haley, Durkon, Vaarsuvius, Blackwing, Belkar, Roy, The Dragon, Xykon, Celia, Durkon's Pony, Roy's Horse*

    * Can't find the character's actual name in the index.

Pg 2: Elan, Haley, Lien, Hank, Jenny, Crystal, Mr. Jones, Phil Rodriguez, Inkyrius, Fruit Pie the Sorcerer, Linear Guild Kobold*, Thog, Kidnapped Dirt Farmer, Dirt Farmer's Wife.

    * I don't know which one it is, and I don't think it's been said in the KS thread yet. If we can't figure it out, we'll have to come up with a descriptive name for him.

Pg 3: Jenny, Hank, Linear Guild Kobold, Crystal, Thog, Dirt Farmer's Wife, Inkyrius, Celia, Nale, Lockpicking thief, Ian Starshine, Tarquin, Sabine, Chuck, Zz'dtri, Empress of Blood

Pg 4: Celia, Jenny, Crystal, Ian Starshine, Hank, Empress of Blood, Sabine, Linear Guild Kobold, Tarquin, Nale, Thog, Zz'dtri

Pg 5: Celia, Haley, Sabine, Nale, Tarquin, Therkla

Pg 7: Hank, Celia, Vaarsuivius, Haley, Crystal, Nale, Tarquin, Malack, Miron Shewdanker,Ioun-Stoned Ally, Ice King, Linear Guild Kobold*, Pompey, Tarquin's Catgirl Ally, Yokyok, Crystal, Kilkil, Zz'dtri, Phil Rodriguez, Phil Rodriguez's Dance Partner**, Mr. Jones, Leeky Windstaff, Robot From Origins***, Thog, Hilgya Firehelm, "Kaboom" Redaxe, Turbaned Leader***, Gannji, Enor, Tarquin's Spiky Shoulder Ally****, Shadowdancer, Shadowdancer's Date**, Skeletor, Tarquin's Spiky Shoulder Ally's Date***** Amun-Zora, Gourntonk

Plus two characters in the upper right hand corner on the balcony who I don't believe we've seen before

    * Uncertain of this one since he might have 'died' when the Empress of Blood sat on him on Pg 4 (there are no X's to denote death in this play)

    ** Don't recongize the character.

*** This marks his second unnamed appearance, thus worthy of entrance.

**** Can't find the name in the index

***** Have we seen this character before?

Pg 8: Tarquin, Nale, Sabine, Haley, Phil Rodriguez, Phil Rodriguez's Date, Tarquin's Spiky Shoulder Ally's Date, Therkla's Father, Skeletor, Elan

Plus a character with a mask on a stick that I think is only appeared here.

Pg 9: Tsukiko, Shadowdancer's Date, Haley, Elan

One thing we need to discuss in this thread I think:

    Spoiler

As I said above, we see one of the Linear Guild kobolds in the beginning. Is there a way to differentiate them? Especially since one seems to die with a different one in the masquerade ball?

Yokyok has facial hair like in the main continuity. The other kobold is first seen with a weapon similar (identical?) to Yikyik's, and he's always wearing the same clothes so I think it's him all the time. He also lacks Yukyuk's speech patterns (what little we saw of it).

And I already see you have something I missed: Phil's date appearing on another page.

Also, the turban guy actually has 4 appearances already.

Well, I know about the facial hair, which is why I included Yokyok from the ball scene. The question I have is that Yikyik or Yukyuk?

I suppose since Elan hadn't met Yukyuk yet, it might not be him. But that's might be too beholden to continuity.

Is there any way to tell the difference between Yikyik and Yukyuk at a glance? Though the weapon bit you mention is a good point.

If the list agrees it's Yikyik in all cases, I'll concur.

Anyway, here is my updated list:

I've thought about that. But then how do we know it's not just a random skeleton?

Besides, he's 'on duty' so I don't think he'd be dressed up in costume. I just peg it as one of the many cameos that Rich puts into his work.

ETA::: Actaually, he is drinking though isn't he?

On the one hand, that means he's not 'on duty'. OTOH, Xykon is famous for not being able to drink. Makes me think it is Skeletor in that case.

AHA! That's who they were talking about in the discussion thread. I'm unfamiliar with the character.

That is who I had marked as a shard of glass, since I couldn't make it out very well.

Yes, that's definately right there. Thanks for the correction. I'll go edit it in.

    ETA::::

A correction to my masqurade scene list, which I will edit in my other posts:

    Spoiler

Someone mentioned that Hilgya's husband was in the masquerade scene and I took it as given without checking. But as was later noted that isn't him but instead is "Kaboom" Redaxe.

That's what I get for not checking.

When the kobold first appeared, he had a (shortsword?) like Yikyik, and his brawl with Hank mirrored Belkar vs. Yikyik. When he later appears at the masquerade and final shot, he has the exact same clothes. Yikyik and Yukyuk never wore the same clothes, and Yukyuk never used a bladed weapon so I maintain that the kobold is always supposed to be Yikyik.

Well, raising people was shown as an option in-comic, so fair enuf on all counts.

I knew that. Just missed it on the count. Gift Jeraff had it anyway.

    Fixing.

Where those people we saw in the balcony in the masquerade new? Like I said, I can't recall them.

I don't think we count inside title pages, do we? I seem to recall it being disallowed before. That's why I didn't count it on my list as a page number.

A couple other things on the masquerade:

    Spoiler
    Show
The character you have listed as "Therkla's father" is more likely the Grand Larcenist, who tried to hit on Haley in 425. Also note the aftershadow, which Therkla's father doesn't have.

The lizardfolk talking to Amon-Zora on page 8 is Ambassador Gourntonk.

I also don't recognize the people with Rodriguez, the shadowdancer, or Tarquin's shoulder-pad-wearing ally. I think they're new characters.

As can be most clearly seen on page 9 (the first panel with Elan in the pineapple suit), Skeletor does not have a red glow in his eyesockets. This makes me think he's not Xykon.

I'm not sure the guard next to Elan should be listed at all, as he's a generic mook, but if he is, his first appearance was actually on page 8.

The people on the balcony on page 8 and the masked woman on the other side of Elan on page 9 appear to be new characters with only one appearance.

Also, some of the masquerade costumes should probably be listed (e.g. "Nale as Bizarro"), but I can't recognize most of them myself.

EDIT: I was counting the title page as page 1 for these numbers.
