[12 player WW] Classic Mafia: Bring out the Noir (Closed)

I sat at my desk, sighing to myself as I considered the fact that yet another of my men had been shot by the Russian Mafia. Why their activity had spiked recently I couldn't tell. However, it had, and I would have to deal with it.

So I looked over my case files, trying to remember who all where here. Who all were important. It wasn't a hard thing to do, but it had to be done if I wished to finish this job.

First, there was the Detective, my trusted second in command. He has access to my case files, and can look up people's crime records in the database, sending in a request to my assistant to search through it at dusk, and getting his reply at dawn. (Seer, can see allegiance only. Team Citizen.)

Second, there is the Doctor, the city's trusted healer. I wish I knew him better, because he does good work. If he arrives at a crime scene in time, he's able to patch up the wounded in time for him to survive. (Baner, Team Citizen.)

Third, there are the Gangsters. They are the reason this city is going down the gutter. My evidence suggests there are three we haven't arrested yet, and I hope that we will be able to get them. (Werewolf, Team Mafia)

Finally, there are the Citizens. They are why I'm doing this job. Almost harmless to the mafia, they are nonetheless vital in exterminating our threat. (Villager, team Citizen)

Now, it is almost dawn. I should go home and get some rest, skipping nights doesn't help with my ability to discover the truth.

Mafia activity in our dear city is on the rise, with more people being killed every week. Regular citizens as well as police officers and medical personnel are being targeted. Today's victim was InaVegt, the chief constable of the police force.

A young man walks through an alley, kicking a rakkoon by his feet as it scavenges in some discarded trash. This place is a mess. Even if we could somehow deal with the gangs, what good would it do? No one has any money, the Constable was probably the last official who wasn't hopelessly corrupt, and we'd probably just attract the drug cartels or something... Lost in his thoughts, he returns to his apartment.

It was a rainy and thoroughly unpleasant evening, but that's no longer a surprise to the lab-coated man shambling down the streets. The city has always had a reputation of being more attractive to rainclouds than the entire Amazon rainforest, especially at night. No, what continues to surprise him is the lack of umbrellas. The populace as a whole seem to have an unspoken dress-code of dark trench-coats and fedoras worn low, and they'll be damned if the downpour will make any difference.

Slipping into one of the innumerable little bars that dot the city, Professor Ghanz Nmi, PhD, sought relief from something much more sinister than acid rain- the recent strings of murders. Settling into one of the stools as far from the chain-smoking clientele as possible, he examined the menu through foggy spectacles.

"Pirate Monk Surprise? What the heck kind of drink is that?"

The new fellow in the neighboring apartment had a peg leg and kissed his prayer beads whenever Hank walked by. There were rumours in town that the Mafia used some kind of Piratemonk for their hits; maybe there was a connection.

[Ramsus]

The man next to him lets out a loud belch. Ramsus scratches his face as he's not shaved in a couple days and it itches a bit. "That's it, on to the next one." He gets up, grabs his coat and hat and stumbles, almost trips, as he puts them on while heading out the door, causing him notice out of the corner of his eye the worn sign that reads M l 's Bar. The letters are all scrunched up so he can't tell just how many of them have been faded away over time.

He heads to another bar he's never been to. He steps into a puddle and shivers. " 's cold. Hope I find someone to keep me warm for the night."

He overhears someone shout something that sounds like Billtodamax through a window as he passes by, though it could have been anything with the rain and the wind.
