Problem with a long weekend, will people have the energy to have a meetup for all this time. I think we should set one day that the Main Meetup happens on (the Saturday, the day we will have most people there).

Well, the Oxford mini-meet went on for at least four days, so I think energy levels won't be too much of an issue...

On the other hand, one day as the focal point makes some sort of twisted sense

From the time I first picked up lesser_minion (Friday lunchish) to the time the last Playgroungers left (Wednesday threeish) I make it six days total.
Almost everyone was there by Friday night, leaving some time Sunday afternoon.
Shortest length attended is held by mercenary Pen who was there from tennish Saturday morning until . . . nine? that night.
Then we had the general decampment over Sunday.
Then I think Tasroth left next - Tuesday lunchish, followed by Serpy and Thufir on Wednesday.

So three days for the Oxford meetup is the . . . mode? Look, I don't do mathematics or statistics.

I believe it's also our traditional length of time too.

We're so amazing the universe has to warm up before our official meetup, and then there has to be a cool down day to allow the universe to adjust to not having so much concentrated awesome all in one place at once.

Well, no-one says you have to be there for all the days, unless I get a lot of time off work, some convenient alibis and a car with an extremely spacious boot....

...but we pick a main day or two and the misanthropes that want to hang around afterwards or get in ahead of the surging crowds can plan their evil misdeeds around them.

I will have enough energy!

But yeah, we'll still have the main meetup over the weekend as usual, and some people may only come for that. However the more extended period is still a good idea for those who want it.


Also, not wanting to derail the thread again, but what did you think of The Grand Duke? (Also, I got your text about it at 11:05pm, at which point the show should have been over for a while, so how did that work out?)

The second act was amazing. From what I heard from the bottom of the stairwell the first act sounded good.

Have to be directed by my brother on the other end of a phone. Get there just as the overture started...

Second act was amazing though, shame I missed most of Richard Suart's stage-time, I like him.

Actually, if Newcastle is the agreed upon venue, then I think I should be able to make it on the weekend of the 7th of July. if I left straight after work, I'd be able to make it to Newcastle probably at around 8:30-9 on the Friday night.
And then I could get back up the road on the Sunday to get back.

...*checks programme* ah, Rudolph. Yeah, he was pretty good. I'll be writing up a bit of a review on my blog soon-ish (Along with some comments on the other two G&S productions I saw recently), so I'll leave my detailed opinions for that.

I have internet again! Yay! Nationals awesome. More might come when I have a laptop, but for the record, Helio is damn awesome and I'm extremely jealous of their clothes. Note to self, need cool swishy coat.

Edit: Some orange juice and a laptop rather than a phone has made me slightly more coherent.

If anyone ever has a chance to take part in the student nationals - DO IT. It's amazing fun, and you meet lots of awesome people. If your university doesn't do nationals, persuade them to send even 3 or 4 people - doesn't have to be a massive team, just enough to be represented.

Heliomance, you are a very charming person with an awesome dress sense, an awesome person to talk to and roleplay with, and if you do not come to a meetup any time soon then I will have to modify my journey so I can find you and drag you by the hair there.
