L-Space WW
It is a truth universally acknowledged, that books, particularly in large collections, can change the universe. Not simply in that they influence people, but directly. The reasoning, as first expounded by Professor Sir Terry Pratchett, is as follows:
Books contain knowledge; knowledge is power; power is energy; energy is equivalent to matter; matter has mass; and large masses distort spacetime.
Additionally, books, as mentioned, influence people. Including, and often especially, people who write books. And therefore, through certain pseudo-scientific, pseudo-magical means of analysing these influences, in both directions, one may attempt to determine the contents of future and past books by examining the contents of present books.
The natural result of combining these two principles, is that from any sufficiently well stocked library or bookshop, anywhere with a high enough concentration of knowledge, by manipulating the interplay of spacetime distortion and bibliographic influence, one may travel to any other such location, throughout all of space and time.
Unfortunately, this can happen by accident. Given the difficulty involved, this may seem unlikely, but if enough of the books are works of fiction, narrative causality may be partially invoked, making such an incident a practical certainty. What’s worse, this area has not yet been particularly widely researched in our time-frame. It is believed that a system to organise it has been devised, is being devised, or will be devised, in 1885. However the precise nature of this so called ‘screwy decimal system’ is as yet unknown to any of us.
We are lost in L-Space. It is a highly dangerous environment. We don’t know how to find our way back to any library or bookshop, let alone the one we started from. And we are not alone here. Here, if such a word may be used to describe this place (If such a word may be used to describe this... this), the written word has a certain degree of life and sentience all its own. And not all the writings are benevolent...
Game starts here.
And finishes here.
Rules and Roles
SpoilerDays 48 hours, nights 24, votes must be in red, changed votes must bestruck through, and new votes must be made in a new post. Autolynches after three days.
Roles
Library patron: You were unfortunate enough to be in the library at the time of the incident. Now you're stuck in L-Space and the malevolent writings, disguised amongst you, are picking you off one by one.
You win if you eliminate the malevolent writings.
(Villagers)
Book Club: You were at a book club meeting when the incident happened. You are in the same position as the regular library patrons, only with the advantage that you know your fellow Book Club members.
You win if you eliminate the malevolent writings.
(Masons)
Priest: You are a priest of Curly, Goddess of the Written Word. By praying to Her each night (And PMing the narrator), you may protect one person from being slain by the malevolent writings.
You win if you eliminate the malevolent writings.
(Baner)
Archivist: As a skilled archivist, each night, by referring to records (And PMing the narrator), you can determine whether someone is a real person or an avatar of the malevolent writings.
You win if you eliminate the malevolent writings.
(Seer)
Malevolent Writings: You are various negative sentiments, expressed through the written word, and now embodied to wreak havoc amongst the humans. You do not know each other. Each night, you choose a target for a kill (And PM this choice to the narrator). The target with most votes dies, unless it is one of you, in which case you are put in contact with each other. In the event of a tie, the target will be randomised between those with the most votes.
Additionally, as you are embodiments of knowledge, you can absorb knowledge or abilities from your targets.
If you kill a Book Club member, some of you will be put in contact with each other.
If you kill the Priest, you gain a one time extra kill for each time someone was successfully protected, to a minimum of one extra kill. However you may not make more than 2 kills per night.
If you kill the Archivist, one of you gains a scry ability (Which gives specific roles, not just human/writing).
You win if you reduce the numbers of everyone else to equal your numbers.
(Wolves, with an extra ability)

Re: L-Space WW
The problem I'm seeing is that the wolves won't necessrily know each other when they kill the Priest (and they may not get it at all if the Priest is lynched).
I'd say something like night kill or day bane with a cool down (3-4 days or so) and a majority of the wolves have to vote to use it that day (with the kill/bane going to whoever got the most votes).
I'm in as well.

Re: L-Space WW
Heh. After reading through it, it almost feels like a case for Thursday Next.
Maybe the wolfs could get a random daybane after killing the priest? They're the written word, so they should also be protected by Curly shouldn't they?
You could have an equal chance of any wolf receiving it until down to 2, then it could be 1/3 chance for each wolf and 1/3 for none and at the last one just a 1/3 chance of a day-bane.
Luck would play a part this way, but haven't it always been so with the favour of the Gods?
