No need for an achronological* viewing for one thing (and episode 4 is one of the better ones as it is), but also while Suited for Success is great its too similar to Ticket Master in terms of character writing. Need to see more of these ponies good sides. Instead of another episode where 5 out of the 6 look like *******s.

It also didn't featured others much like 1x03, it's more like Fluttershy/Rarity combo episode.

I have to say, it's not really about harvesting apples at all. It's more about Applejack as a character, and...well for me, "tired" Applejack is one of the most hilarious moments in the whole series.

My favorite episode is still Bridle Gossip though...and yes, I have watched them all now. ._.

...but some caution is needed when letting her play.

If we assume 4th edition...

Fluttershy is a Druid so that she can talk to animals. (this isn't a strict Druid power as I recall, but she'll make big eyes at the GM and BAM, talk to animals). Not sure about race.

Twilight strikes me as a wizard, for the orderly sorts of magic. She'd also play an Eladrin so she can teleport.

Pinky Pie is a total bard.

Applejack would be a tank, most likely a fighter (Ah don't need no fancy mathe-magical powers to kill no orc!)

Rarity is a Deva... hm. I'm gonna say Paladin. This one I'm the least sure about. But it just seems fitting.

Rainbow Dash is a Rogue multiclassed as a Ranger so that she can have a quarry and do even more damage. She'll be completely min-maxed as well. If it doesn't help her get combat advantage or sneak into position to GET combat advantage, she doesn't care.

2) I loved Dash after that. It was a jerky thing to say, but she is a bit stunted. She lets her Id run free, to use outdated, nonscientific Freudian ideas.

If it was 4th ed, Fluttershy would probably actually be a cleric of a nature god. Pacifist cleric is a reasonably workable build, and she'd really just want to help people.

I guess that's where the Nature part of Nature vs Nurture comes in. I think on some level, Dash acts that way, but knows that she shouldn't, but it's too ingrained in her. It's her default behavior mode which she has the consciously resist.

Gilda, on the other hand, doesn't have that bit of conscience.

It makes me think that Dash had a good upbringing up to a point, then had the world turn on her (related to her flying school days? but if flying school was so terrible, why was she so eager to say the old school chant for Pinkie?), so she got selfish and defensive, with a "me against the world" attitude. But, because she was raised with good morals (friendship, loyalty, etc) up to a certain point, once she's in a good environment (Ponyville after the gang forms) she can adapt.

Actually, her defining magical trait of loyalty WOULD explain why she didn't see the problem with Gilda. Gilda was her friend, and Dash doesn't like (noncompetitive) conflict with her friends.

Like I said before; this show is making me care about animated pony jewelry.

It also made me care about the costumes those animated ponies would wear. Costumes that they normally would not wear, because they do not need clothes, because they are ponies.

This show is VERY well written to make me care about any of that.

As for Dash, I'm guessing it went something like this:

1: Had a great time learning how to fly as a young pony, hence her love for all things flying.
2: Enrolled in flight school.
3: Hated that most of the schooling was just boring academic stuff, and blew it off in favor of flight practice.
4: Met Gilda, who had the same attitude.
5: Failed in all of her classes and got washed out. Gilda did too, but never really cared for school spirit, whereas Dash always wanted to be the best flyer ever, which is why she still has some school spirit despite her washout.
6: Went back to ponyville, and started practicing her routine while keeping the sky clear, deciding to opt out of flight school.

I'm not sure where along those lines her attitude changed, though I suspect she was actually always the way she is now. The reason she's not like Gilda is that she never had a sense of elitism - just a competitive, athletic spirit and some real natural talent. Gilda liked her because they both had the same attitude towards things, regardless of how they treat others.

And, sadly, sometimes we don't really see the negative side of our friends because we like the part that we know.

- Gets accused of 'flunking' flight school by the Simpsons bullies, with stuff along the lines of "Not enough nap time". She immediately retorts that she wasn't kicked out.

To me that implies that she left voluntarily, but the buildup to that was not pleasant. Sounds sort of like a 'you-can't-fire-me-I-quit' kind of deal.

So she tells herself she mastered the school and didn't need it any more, which was why she left. But Rainbow Dash is so obviously talented a few more years in the place could have had her graduating directly into a military position, possibly not far removed from the Wonderbolts. It's because she quit which is why she's hanging out in a backwater like Ponyville.

Gosh darn this speculation on Rainbow's past is depressing
