    Hi Tannhaeuser,

I really like your art, but I'm unfamiliar with most of these creatures. Could you give me an idea of what their type/category would be so I can put them in the appropriate "bucket"?

    Thanks!

Thanks for the compliment! I think the best way to categorize these monsters would be as follows (I don’t know if you plan on separate categories for Constructs and Outsiders; if not, I suppose the Scarecrow and the Shadow Demon could be lumped under the Animates):

    Animates
    Pĕnanggalan

    Beasts
    Achaerai, Giant Strider, Gorbel

    Humanoids
    Firenewt, Githyanki, Kuo-Toa, Myconid

    Outsiders
    Shadow Demon

    Constructs
    Scarecrow

I love doing these old school monsters. If anyone out there has any requests for a particular favorite 1st/2nd edition creature, let me know, and I’ll see if I can’t cobble something together.

    TANN

P.S.: I should probably re-do the Githyanki; his bottom half is way too short.

I also am up for any requests. I'm trying to have these guys for use in my campaign so I find most of my lunch hour is spent looking at ideas and drawing them up.

Does anyone have the svgs for these? I'd love to be able to edit/tweak some of the elementals (color swaps mostly).

Hmm.. I'm always looking to add to the collection of iconic creatures for D&D. I'd love to see some new dragons or some various humanoid creatures (lizardfolk, gnolls, etc). Really I'll take whatever you're interested in making.

Default And we bring you...the Bulette!

The classic first edition Dungeons & Dragons monster, the Bulette (or Landshark). The monster's original design was based on a cheap Chinese plastic toy owned by Gary Gygax. I have done two versions, one with the colors as I remembered them (or misremembered them) from the first edition Monster Manual (illustrated by David C. Sutherland III), the other with the colors of the original toy. The Bulette is categorized as a Beast.

A while back I did a minicomic thing that involved a werewolf. He's based on a specific character from another source, and so might not quite match the MM descriptions, but here he is.

I've still got the SVG, so if you'd prefer (for instance) that he not be holding the letter I can do that.

I like having a werewolf in the mix, nice! If it's not too much trouble I think I would prefer him without the letter so that the image is a little more general. I did put this one up in the library too.

How about including a zip file in the first post with all the images currently in the library so folks don't have to do a bunch of right-click/save image monotony? Once Rich sends out the first of the monster mini pdf's from the Kickstarter drive one of us could perhaps put these fan contributions in a similar formatted pdf...

Note: I will absolutely make sure that in the zip file is a list of artists that contributed and which tokens they created. Credit is always a must.

Good question. I guess having avatar sizes are easier to show off, but if people are interested in larger sizes then I would say go for it. If it's just easier to do a large image and then shrink it after the fact that could work too.

Also, the recent images look awesome. I'll be adding them to the top in a bit, I got a little busy the past few days so I'm a little behind. Thanks guys!

As long as we are doing plants, please give a warm Order of the Stick welcome to the national flower of Gobbotopia, from 1981's Fiend Folio, the Yellow Musk Creeper!

The YMZ is a Humanoid (not being Undead per se), I guess, but the Creeper is whatever you make Meltheim's plants.

Eh, I thought I might as well add in a couple more from the first Monster Manual. The first one I did in a sort of odd, back-handed homage to the late Davy Jones:

I suppose the second could be, too, come to think of it:

The former is a beast, the latter, an animate. Requiescat in pace, Mr. Jones!

    May as well add:

    It's a magical beast.

And, added another Bullywug for Meltheim:

Heh, thanks, Cofez! They are a lot of fun to do, though I am also trying to get a fair variety of different D&D monsters. (Of course, a lot of them, like Lukers Beneath, Piercers, Trappers, Black Puddings, Green Slime, and Ochre Jellies, are not very suitable to stickification!) I think that last Bullywug must have taken Slimmo or something, though; he seems a little skinny. Let's hope he doesn't end up like my very badly drawn Thought Eater.

How about some of you guys doing some wereboars or vargouilles or something? I can't do everything: after all, it isn't the Order of the Stick Monster Tannual Art Project!

Oh, and on a side note: Thank you, Giant In The Playground, for the Birthday Greetings! (Providing the answer to the D&D riddle, "How is Tann like Tiamat? They're both Huge and Ancient.")

Tann, I'm loving these creatures. I continue to be impressed by your art. Okay, the latest editions have been updated in the catalog.

Awesome idea. The neat thing is, once the Kickstarter monster minis come out, we'll have the dimension for making to scale paper miniatures for a bunch of different side categories. It would probably be possible to start making some of our own unique mini using the art from this thread!
