Re: Elemental's Excitingly Excellent Random Banter: No.CLXXVII
This is my first avatar. Lots of little details some won't notice (runes on the robe, a super-small smile on the hood) are present. Of course, I haven't changed it in the two years I used it.
Also, how do I merge an account? I had an old one that was pretty much lost in the passage of time, made a year previous. Forgot the password, don't use that email anymore, etc.Steam username is Triscuitable.
I got VAC banned in COD: Ghosts for using an FOV changer.
I try not to think of how sad that is.

My first avatar looked pretty bad, but I tried to make it in photoshop elements. No vectors at all. This is my third I think. I liked it and stopped making them.
Four As and a B this semester. Pretty stoked to get an A in my political philosophy class. I have one class next semester and I get my degree. I'm having a really good day! despite getting locked out in the freezing rain and breaking into the house through the window with an AC unit.

After becoming indolent on rapid transfer devices and having re-installed a DVD-drive, I now recognise how utterly plodding and atrocious DVD-drives are in comparison. Or maybe it's just my one which sucks monkey balls.

Re: Elemental's Excitingly Excellent Random Banter: No.CLXXVII
For a little bit, I was the leader of the Valkyries. We were trying to protect our king - in the past, we had fought of Leonidas of Sparta. However, something was turning my Valkyries into apathetic useless people. So I had to go trying to find who was doing this. Turned out there was a little fairy muttering to himself about how he wasn't sure whether to call our place a kingdom or what, because in his mind when he took over he'd make it socialist - but then what would he call it? Kingdom is a monarchy...
Then I woke up. Dreams, wat."I'm just going on motive and opportunity here and the fact that if the earth got swallowed by a black hole, I'd look suspiciously in your direction first."

Re: Elemental's Excitingly Excellent Random Banter: No.CLXXVII
You can train that ability. It requires some dedication, which be hard in the morning, but this was how I did it:
Keep a notepad and a pencil by your bed.
Drink a glass of water. (this should be in any guide, always. Water is the spice of life)
As you lay yourself down to sleep, remember that you want to remember your dreams. Try and hold that thought as you drift off, but don't focus too hard on it to let your consciousness go.
When you wake up, remember that you want to remember your dreams.
Write down anything you thought about/dreamt since you started drifting off last night.
In the start, it might simply be thoughts from before you fell properly asleep, but soon they should start mingling with your subconscious stuff and, with time, your dreams.
The hard part, I find, is keeping focus in the morning. When I wake up, I'm usually either bone-tired or completely focused on getting my morning over with so I can be a daytime human being.
That is how I do it, but most of the time these days, I don't really need it. Then again, I have a very powerful (read: Occassionally medicated) subconscious.
Good luck!We are older than music / what we bring is light / what we bring is a star / what we bring / is an ancient sea.

Re: Elemental's Excitingly Excellent Random Banter: No.CLXXVII
Speaking of dreams, I had an unusually long one a few nights ago:
SpoilerIt started with me wanting to show an old friend of mine around the University (or rather, the part of it that I'm studying at), so we headed off (in what in reality would be the wrong direction), but she was walking while I had a bicycle, and she insisted on taking "the long route", so I grew impatient and went ahead.
When I got to Uni (which actually looked more like my 7-9 grade school), it was getting a bit dark. I walked around a few ponds that apparently were there while I waited for my friend to appear, but she didn't (I can't really blame her for that), so I started to go back home when a friend from DV (the bachelor course-program-something-thing in computer science. My master(-ish) c-p-s-t is called IT, and we're mostly reading our courses in parallell so far) suddenly came out of a door and pulled me in.
It turned out DV had a party there, and I assumed that my friend hadn't realised that I'm actually from IT. Everyone were wearing light blue T-shirts with cons cells (the emblem for DV, but their colour is red, not light blue) on them, and I felt really out of place in my ordinary shirt (I don't think I was wearing any fleece jacket in my dream, which is weird, because it was quite chilly in it).
I was lead to a table with several bowls of sweets on them, and even though I didn't really think I was entitled to it, I still took some (I can't say no to sweets), but I was scared to death that someone would realise that I wasn't from DV, and decided to try and leave as fast as possible.
I left the building, but noticed that I was followed by a large man that looked pretty much like the stereotypical overweighty nerd. I got to my bike, but before I could go, I had to grease some truly critical mechanisms down by the pedals (no, I have no idea why someone put a gearbox on my bicycle), and while I did that, the other guy caught up with me.
He took out a bottle of what I later read on it was brake fluid, and started pouring it into the mechanism. I tried to cover it, but I couldn't cover its entirety and the fluid ran between my fingers. Then he took a fistful of sawdust that he held in his other hand, and blew it straight into the mechanism so that it would seize up if I tried to use the bicycle.
I asked him why he did that, to which I think he responded that I wasn't allowed to leave the party. I stated some reason to why I left the party which I can't remember, and he returned with accusing me of never having used a "Babylon Dungeon Tower" (I assume it's some sort of dice tower). I responded that no, I hadn't, but I know what it is.
That answer made the other guy suddenly turn friendly and he presented himself as "Björn", to which I responded that that's my name as well (it is). I then revealed that there was another reason to why I wanted to leave the party, namely that I'm from IT and not DV. The dream ended promptly after that, so I never got his reaction...
I've become better at remembering my dreams lately. They can be quite something at times, sometimes even helping me draw a conclusion about myself or how I likely would act in certain situations.Clouddreamer Teddy by me, high above the world, far beyond its matters...

Re: Elemental's Excitingly Excellent Random Banter: No.CLXXVII
WHAT THE HELL!
I have a photobucket account, and I've been using it a lot recently. And today I wanted to continue on with the project I was working on yesterday, and one of the things I'd not done was to upload a screencap to Photobucket.
Except now it seems that it doesn't exist.
I haven't forgotten my user name or password, but on the offchance I decided that maybe I'd just reset my password because it was easier.
Except now it seems I've 'forgotten' my email address in that my account doesn't exist based on that information.
So I go to my email and log in. Still works. And I double-check to make sure Photobucket is tied to my usual account rather than one of my others.
It is.
And then I searched for myself on Photobucket.
Doesn't exist.
But my photos and uploaded things do.
So I click on the hyperlink below the photo clearly saying CurlyKitGirl. Which takes me back to the front page of the site.
why don't i exist on photobucket any more?!

Contact info links can generally be found at the bottom of a webpage (especially those that provide a service of some sort). It seems they have some online support as well. This seems relevant to your problem.
And now I can't stop imagining how all these attrocious bugs and errors you encounter in you everyday business simply is the computer trying to be a bit social. It's so tragic that I almost have to laugh.Clouddreamer Teddy by me, high above the world, far beyond its matters...

Re: Elemental's Excitingly Excellent Random Banter: No.CLXXVII
Might as well explain my sig somewhere...
Okay, this is actually an old signature; a few years ago, I was flipping through a Weekly World News issue (which really shows how desperately bored I was at the time), and came across an article in which the roving WWN reporter was interviewing Sisyphus.
Yes, that Sisyphus.
Apparently Sisyphus had finally finished his titular task of pushing a boulder up a hill, and was now free to share his experience with the world.
Weekly World News was missing the point so hard. Sisyphus was rolling the boulder as punishment - he's not supposed to actually complete his objective!
I mean, why don't they check in with Tantalos, then, and see if he's gotten his drink of water yet? Or stage an interview with the bird that eats Prometheus' liver, to see if he's planning on switching to a fad diet? If Zeus had wanted Sisyphus to get the boulder to the top of the hill, he'd have just given him a truck!
Of course, that last sentence of the mini-rant stuck in my head - it seemed an inherently-hilarious image, so I PMed Phase and asked if he'd be willing to illustrate exactly that.
(As for why I'm using it now, I was just going through my Photobucket account, found it again, and decided to brush the dust off. )It is inevitable, of course, that persons of epicurean refinement will in the course of eternity engage in dealings with those of... unsavory character. Record well any transactions made, and repay all favors promptly.. (Thanks to Gnomish Wanderer for the Toreador avatar! )

Re: Elemental's Excitingly Excellent Random Banter: No.CLXXVII
The idea with Sisypeus here was that he was tasked with rolling a boulder up a hill, but instead of there being a a sensible top to this hill, there was just a steep edge for the boulder to then roll back down. THAT is the punishment, not the actuall pushing of the boulder. He has to get it to STAY up there.
As it is, yes, they're "missing the point" but since the Weekly World News is clearly a parody or joking magazine, I would not say they did it without KNOWING how inaccurate an idea it is. As a joke, it's actually pretty hilarious, so I'm not bothered by it.
However, your sig is also hilarious.

Let me guess, the number of identical posts you managed to create is equal to the number of refreshes required to load the page + 1.
