Good job. she said floating over and kissing him on the cheeck. She still hand't fully managed to make her feet solid, and found it easier to float then walk. As she kissed him, the plate she was holding fell from her hand as it became intangible.

She sighed and went to go get a broom.

O'Connell chuckles and returned the kiss, then waved her off. We'll have to work on that a little more. No need for a broom though, I learned a nice trick recently. He reached down and put the palm of his hand on the floor, which then shimmered slightly - turning intangible and the bits of the broken plate dropping through.

oh. so instead of cleaning up the mess, you're just hiding it. she said, smiling mischievously a bit. That's not much better.

Liriel only smiles and shakes her head, holding back her laughter. The grill is in the back. she says chuckling to herself.

O'Connell grins and carries the steaks out to the grill to stoke the fire.

Celeste's smile wavers, but she keeps it on. "I guess the right answer is too long. She tosses her head, her hair swinging, then settling back into place. "Actually, it's not all that bad. I mean, sure, it's never anything I would have dreamed of doing, but it's interesting, at least." She shrugs, then sets her glass down. Slowly, she unwinds the scarf from around her neck and lifts her chin, showing the long white scar at her throat. "My first husband tried to kill me because some guy gave me a nod as we walked down the street one day. Thought I was cheatin' - and I never had. Cut my throat, left me for dead. I blacked out for a minute or so, came to, found his gun and..." She looks away and clears her throat. "Anyway, after that, I had a record, a reputation. Sure, I never served any time - it was self-defense. But still, people talk. Couldn't get a job. One day, a guy made me an offer. I needed the money - I took it. It just seemed like the best way to do things." She turns her eyes back to James and smiles again. Not a plastic smile, but a gentle, genuine one. "That was...8 years ago. Now I can usually afford to be selective, and I never worry about goin' hungry. The only downside is that it's hard to make friends. People either want somethin' or they look down on me for what I do." She clutches at her scarf for a long moment, then slowly starts to rewrap it, feeling self-conscious about the scar.

Something flashes across James' face. Might have been pity. But, it's gone, and he smiles warmly at her. Well, look on the bright side. You get some of the finest whiskey I've ever tasted. He grins at her, raises his glass, and finishes it off.

And soon the smell of cooking steaks fills the area.

But I'm honestly rather confused how a dead mobster ended up as mayor. Crazy vote stuffing...

We all know that when a bad guy is being bandwagonned, other bad guys will jump on the bandwagon. Selrahc was Northside. I think his post was immoral and cheating, but may just have been forgetful. In any case I doubt he seriously thought it would influence the voting. But clearly Shadowcaller thought that, with a bit of prompting, it might save his leader!

There were a lot of votes for Ranna. I think this was a last minute attempt to save Whitehelm the same way Trixie (I think it was) was saved:

Lastly, Trixie won Mayor on a tie. If we count up exactly how many votes Helgraf and Evnafets had then we can work out how many Northside members there are (assuming they all voted).

I was voting for whitehelm last day and I was the first voting for him now. My post there did not in any way claim that whitehelmet was innocent, he might as well have been with the Capone as the Northside gang.
If I really had belived whitehelm was innocent I would have changed my vote.

That you try to make me look bad for that despite the fact that I been suspicious of whitehelm for some time now is also quite "lame".

Just beacuse I claim a person might not be in one gang don't means I belive he is in the other.

Unless I'm mistaken, the chief cause of believing that Whitehelm was a mobster was his defence of Trixie Deathslayer7 at some point (or something like that).

Stating that Whitehelm is not Northside undermines that logic quite fundamentally as TrixieDeathslayer7 was Northside and so Whitehelm would only defend her (as he did) if he was also Northside (which it turned out he was).

I also think I detect a pattern. Whitehelm made a passing comment about the evidence against TrixieDeathslayer7 being insufficient, and then you made a passing comment about Whitehelm not being Northside which, logically speaking, is the same as the evidence against him being insufficient.

Let me see if I can dig up what Whitehelm said...found it and it was Deathslayer7 not Trixie. My mistake for not paying enough attention:

Given that the Uncle Festy bandwagon started first, I would think that the opposing one was started by people who knew he was a mason, and were trying to protect him.

So I'm not really suspicious of deathslayer7, but I haven't decided yet who I am suspicious of.
