I think any effort to outsnub someone probably automatically fails.

Well that's one of the bigger cop out lines I've heard from a Reinholdt in a while.

Chione totally tries to outsnub Reinholdt as well. The cat seems entirely uninterested in the other cat now, even though she's also listening intently and with interest.

Reinholdt says, going to such lengths to be totally uninterested as to put his kitty paws together and pretend to be praying.

Chione watches this out of the corner of her eyes, and then goes to pray as well. The cat quickly falls asleep, however, as she isn't too keen on praying to her mother but enjoys a cat nap just as much as any other cat. She snoozes away, probably ending the snubbing contest and conversation.

Reinholdt's victory feels so hollow. He wishes he thought of napping first.

Patrol: The Red Zone

Jean accepts the look with a nod, "I know, that was idiotic of me, you don't have to say anything." He restraps his equipment and disarms his crossbow, stowing it all back under his coat. When he's done he'll spend awhile trying to determine whether or not the victim has any injuries, just using the basic first aid techniques he's picked up.

"Thank you..." he doesn't look up at Tlannae while he says this, but it's clearly directed at her.

Any cuts or scrapes he finds on the woman will be sterilized by a splash of his diminishing store of brandy.

Xifra awakes with a cry, after a nightmare. They were getting worse, every night.

The Objects were angry at her. She had once possessed four, and had somehow, for Salome's sake, found the strength to release one of them.

It wasn't destroyed. She knew that. But it was separate again. And they wanted... they wanted...

"They must not be brought together," she whimpers.

Harnel nods and says, "Jezebel... I know it may not be something you want to hear right now, but if you find something that I could do for you, to even try to pay you back, just ask. I'll be happy to help. Until then... you probably don't want to see any more of me, so I'm going to go. Thanks for talking with me, at least," He fishes into a pouch on his belt and pulls out a few coins; enough to pay for both the hot chocolate and the espresso, and places them on the table, before going to leave. If Jezebel wants to say something before he goes, this is her only chance.

She's more than welcome to come with them in Jean's opinion, and they can probably escort her back into the Grey Zone so long as Tlannae has no objections, "Did I? That's ludicrous, I haven't been drafted since... Nevermind." Jean waves his hand dismissively.

"So I notice you haven't asked me any impertinent questions yet. Don't be shy, we are putting our lives in each others hands after all."

Salome holds Mistress close, not understanding why Mistress was so scared and couldn't sleep, but knowing that it was her Duty as Mistress' Love to make her feel better. "Mistress, what can I do?" She asks with a whimper, needing to be of use.

Harnel nods and says, "Jezebel... I know it may not be something you want to hear right now, but if you find something that I could do for you, to even try to pay you back, just ask. Harnel indeed stops, and will move back to his seat as he talks, "I know. We didn't give you much choice. I didn't give you much choice." oddly he chuckles, "Frankly, I was asleep for most of that night. The two things I remember really well are a lot of hooks and an incredibly comfy bed. I've been in far worse prisons. I don't think there's a need for you to apologize about that at all; it was my fault."

"Salome, my best beloved..." Xifra inhales her scent. "You're worth it. You're worth everything."

For a moment, she thought of asking Salome to take the flower that she wore in her hair and crush it, but no. Xifra never sully her beloved with the Objects. She shuddered that she had even let the thought poison her mind. "Tell me about the Warp, and how we will be together..."

Jean still seems somewhat confused and unfocused, but it seems he's got a bit of a better grip on the situation now. "Hmm, I wouldn't worry too much about it. Sometimes things like that happen. I would know, I'm a doctor." Jean straightens his beret, and then tilts it again.

"That's true though, I was drafted. Who told you that? Quite the story behind that if we had the time."

"It wasn't just yours, but anyone from Watch, really." She explains. "You were just the one who decided to stay behind even though I gave you a chance to run."

Harnel chuckles, "Yeah, and every one of my friends would tell you the same story about me, 'He's a good fighter, sure, but he's missing anything even resembling common sense'. I should have taken your offer to leave right then and there. It might have kept things from getting worse... I don't know. It's something I wish we could change. All of it."

"Perhaps, but things can't be changed that easily." She admits as she sips her drink, pondering. "I've thought of what you could do for me however, and its well within your ability I assume. Several things technically."

"First, I will be hosting a party soon. Invitations will be sent out. It's for charity to try and help rebuild part of Red Zone. I'm sure you've heard of what I've done by now, but I'd like to be able to do more." She explains. "I want you and Cessie to come. Maybe Wenomir too. He can bring a date. You don't need to worry about retribution there. I just want my organization to be left in peace."

"Alright, I'll definitely be there, and I'll try to convince the others to come as well. Should I tell them who you are, or let hem figure that out for themselves?" Harnel asks, not wanting to step on any toes.

"I'd prefer you'd tell no one at all, to be honest." She says, looking through her mask at him. "I'll be revealing myself finally at the party, and I'd rather I weren't met with a mob of Watchers ready to kill me. If there are..." Jezebel starts, leaving the end unfinished. "I have done nothing wrong, at neither here nor Gaze, and this time I'm well within legal constraints. It would get more than a bit messy if Watch decided to try something."

"Number two was making sure Watch stays in line. Number three though..." She pauses to finish off her drink. "There's going to be a "slave" auction. Not a literal one, but one of those figurative ones where you can buy someone for 24 or 48 hours to be your so called "servant."" She says. "You can either step on the platform and be bid on, or bid for people yourself. I'd like you to bid a bit. Even if the money can't be used to Resurrect Maria, it can at least be given to charity."

For a moment, Jezebel will see Harnel staring off into space for a moment. He's imagining Cessie at the moment, and that look he's come to know so well from doing stupid move is there. But this is for charity.

"Alright, I'll step up to be bid on. Maybe I can get someone to use my money for bidding on others as well."
