Most Intimidating Spaceship.
What spaceship in movies and TV (or just artwork) do you think has the most intimidating, the most scary and the most “run, run away and hide, now” look to it. Post pictures if at all possible.
I’ll start of with the "torn from your nightmares" look of the Shadow Battlecrab.
Spoiler
Edit: I am only asking for intimidating looks, if you have to explain something about the ship or the universe the ship is from for it to be scary then it is not what I am looking for.Last edited by Quezovercoatl; 2007-11-11 at 09:47 AM. Reason: clarification

The starship from Spaceballs: "We Brake for Nobody." (Sadly I can't seem to find an image of it).

Star Wars' Executor has made me go "holy crap that's awesome" - in several senses of the word awesome - since I was about seven. Size matters not, sure, but once you realize how much weaponry that thing must have...
The Eclipse, from the Star Wars Dark Empire comics, however, borders on the ridiculous and godmodish. Just...don't get me started.Spoiler

Aww, Rahl stole my answer. The Reaver ships were the first thing I thought of.

I'm most scared of the Borg. They're so fearsome that they don't need to overcompensate with pointy bits and tentacles.

The Cloak of Untrammeled Dignity, just because it's so freaking BIG (When a ship is 1000 kilometers long, you know you're screwed)

1000km long? That's no space station, it's a moon.

Actully, it terms of volume, it is roughly 200(300?...) times larger then a Imperail 1 class star destroyer.

Re: Most Intimidating Spaceship.
I find the new Cylon Basestars to be reasonably intimidating. Particularly with the way the fighters attach along the spine, and the sheer number missiles then thing can pump out.

Then there's the ship from that motivational poster. It fires from an ammo-belt of SUNS, and focuses it's beam through 7 SPINNING BLACK HOLES.

Re: Most Intimidating Spaceship.
Everybody know what an Imperial Star Destroyer looks like, so when you look up in the sky and see one, your first thought is "Oh $#!*".
BTW, on a related note, I was watching some TV, some program about UFO sightings, when they showed some sketches some people did of them. It frightened me to see that they had a dagger shape, with three engines in the back. Ya know what else is dagger shaped with three engines in the back? Imperial Star Destroyers. Re: Most Intimidating Spaceship.
well, there's the magog ship, but besides being it's own solar system, it's more of what's on the planets.
also Wraith hive ships are fairly intimidating.

Re: Most Intimidating Spaceship.
The Sword of Inevitable Justice/Post Dated Check Loan from Howard Taylor's Schlock Mercenary. What makes Tausennigan Thunderheads so frightening is the incredibly sophisticated AI running the weapons and such, and Petey was stated to be able to turn five-dimensional combat into a simple game of checkers.
Closely followed by a Battleplate from the same source; the only reason Battleplates, with their superior firepower, don't rank first, is because you're more likely to run into a fuzzy koalaoid's insanely powerful battleship than you are a Battleplate while traipsing around space.
After that; The Death Star. I don't care if some farm boy and some gambling runt managed to destroy them, nor if the power to destroy a planet is insignificant next to the power of the Force; destroying a planet in one shot is still pretty awesome, and I mean awesome in the "horrifying" awesome. Now if you don't mind, I am somewhat preoccupied telling the laws of physics to shut up and sit down.

But when you think about it's size compared to everything else around it, It's the largest ship in the Star Trek Universe. I mean then Enterprise can fly through one of the open sides with a lot of room to spare.Grinning Purple Gelatinous Cube avatar courtesy of Lord_Herman

Re: Most Intimidating Spaceship.
In that case, I submit the Lexx.
Capable of destroying a planet with a single shot as well, but can shoot every few seconds. Also much cooler looking in my opinion, but that part is, obviously, subjective.

Re: Most Intimidating Spaceship.
Imperial Star Destroyers. They're not stupidly big, they don't have bodies hanging off the side and they don't have ridiculous wings/ribs/protrusions. They are just sleek, effecient, and impersonal warships.
The Omnians were a God-fearing people. They had a great deal to fear.

Re: Most Intimidating Spaceship.
Hmm, for me, gotta be the Proteus from the [I]Lost in Space[I] movie. One, it's a dead ship floating in the middle of nowhere. Two, if you watched the previews, you know what's inside it(flesh-eating spider creatures.)
It's the simple things in life you treasure.
There are some things in life worth making a fuss over. This probably isn't one of them.

Re: Most Intimidating Spaceship.
Please explain, I don't see anything wrong with the engines, perhaps i missed something....
I'm going for my vote for..
"I maintain that the effectiveness of the Star Destroyer stems from not only its massive firepower, but from its size. When citizens look at a Star Destroyer and then compare it to the craft which might be mustered to attack it, they have a tendency to dismiss such a notion as suicidal rather than approach the problem tactically."

Re: Most Intimidating Spaceship.
Star Destroyer engines are only in the rear and cannot change the tilt, pitch or yaw of the ship, only move it forward and turn it left or right. A Star Destroyer cannot even slow down without turning around.
I realize this is applying Newtonian physics to a universe that staunchly ignore them, but even ignoring the Z-axis, a Star Destroyer can't cut its forward speed easily- plus they don't seem to mount many weapons on their underside.

The Death Star. The sheer simplicity of it's appearance is intimidating.
