The buffs really weren't that much.
Lowered mana cost? Nice, but considering that he ran out in the middle of early game fights, more necessary than OP.
Higher ASPD? Really not THAT much of a buff.
Fracture change? Awesome, but more quality of life than a major buff.
And the ult buff? Really not that much.

For context, consider that Udyr reached his metagame peak after they cut his mana costs...oh, and nerfed Tiger stance.

Consider that community opinion of champions is a rollercoaster ride where every change is magnified fivefold.

That's a lot of armor and MR on someone who appears to be a ranged AD. His E is an inverse Akali Shroud, which is cool. He looks interesting, dunno how he'll fair at dethroning Caitlyn, Kog, Trist, Ez and Vayne though.

edit: Not sure how serious Saint is, but he has said like 5 times that "Jarvan is King [in the jungle]" on stream. Arcanoi has led me to believe otherwise. Thoughts?

He's a ranged tanky dps from the looks of it, near 3k health with mallet. Depending on quickdraws AS steroid, Phreak's beloved PD might be unnecessary.

I do have to note, he does appear... heavy... in his model. No better way to put it, but he just seems really bulky, especially compared to the frames they give for their ranged carries (take Ez for example.) So yeah, I think they really wanted to try a tanky ranged hybrid. That wasn't Teemo.


EDIT: Now Toasty, do you mean Jarvan just is not number 1 in jungle (which I would agree with.) Or do you feel like he is a poor jungler? Because I know stonewall likes his jungle very well. And just looking at him, he does have plenty to offer in ganks while being able to handle himself in jungle quite well. Still don't see king, though.

There's a difference between building a Frozen Mallet and being a tanky dps. He has an ASPD steroid, plus two abilities that scale off of AD. Assuming they give him low base damage (which they should) and strong scaling, he'll be pretty ineffective as a tanky dps.

I would say there is a difference between building Frozen Mallet and building Atmallet, since Atmas really is a tanky dps item. To be fair, we have no clue what they'll give him, but I doubt they'd really make a "tanky ranged." It's more like a pipedream. What I mean by tanky ranged hybrid is actually pretty much supported by what they said, which is that they want to encourage Graves to occasionally step up and fire close up, likely then to reposition.

Also, I meant tanky ranged AD. There are, of course, a few tanky options with ranged attacks for lane that are AP.

not sure why. He does downright crazy damage and has an escape. His ult explodes on contact and is super spammable, so it's not like the skinniest skillshot in the game is actually making him all that much harder to play.

I do feel like he doesn't have the same punch as right-click to win carries, though, probably because he doesn't really benefit from delicous criticals.

edit: 2v1 lanes are not fun, I agree. However, if you regularly are facing 2v1 lanes your elo is probably lower than I think a player of your skill, Djin, should be. My solution to anyone who is regularly facing 2v1 is to just play Chogath and get a bunch of defensive runes. Call for ganks. You'll probably do okay. Its not fun, but you'll do okay.

My ELO is definitely lower than my skill should be at...I have to much fun with this game, and haven't yet found a ranked duo partner I'm really comfortable with who is around for games on a regular basis.

And yes...Cho'Gath is pretty much the one guy I can reliably stomp the hell out of a 1v2 with, but that's 'cause I love Cho.

Good advice though.
