Default The Stick Awards II: Second Edition (#0731 - #0740)

Welcome to The Stick Awards II: Second Edition!

The Stick Awards are handed out to the best strips of all time as chosen by our fellow Playgrounders.

This week we are covering the comic strips 731 through 740.

For full details about the Stick Awards, please check out the main thread here.

To read more about the original Stick Awards, created by Nazzo, the 102nd, please read his thread here.

To vote in this thread, simply state which comic of the ten listed is your favorite. Bolding the number of the comic (Like this) helps it stand out.

Voting for this week will close on March 3rd, 4pm EST. Any votes made after that will NOT count toward the totals.

Last week, 723 Generally Relative gave perhaps the biggest surprise twist this competition has yet seen. At least that's what the judges claimed as they sent it on its way to face bigger and more challenging fare.

The stone-faced guards who pointed their crossbows at said judges while the deliberation was going on I'm sure had absolutely nothing to do with their determination of how much of a surprise this really was. That's my story at any rate and (*looks nervously over at the guards*) and I'm sticking to it!

    ...

Anyway, with that strip now receiving its due. it's time to turn our attention to the other attractions this fair land can give us. And what better way to pass the time as we see the sights that to vote on which one is the best of them all. Well to do that all one has to do is vote for which strip is deserving to win....

Hmm. For me, it's a toss-up between "Of course. I prepar'd FOUR Sendin' spells today" and the description of a gladiator's life...I'm going to go with 733: Collect Call.

    737. It has foreshadowing of Malack's vampirism. The argument between Thor and Hel, while funny, also foreshadows what will be happening when Durkon dies. And "the oracle is out" is one of the funniest panels in this set of strips. All in all, 737 is the best because it covers most of the bases of a good OOTS strip.

Several decent ones this time around. While I enjoy seeing Belkar and Roy in the arena, I like the scene at the end of 732, I love Malack and Durkon's relationship more. #737

The Durkon/Malack stuff is great character development, but it must be 736. "Alright, you sons of whores!"

737 - Comparative Mythology is just too foreshadow-y for me not to vote for it.

Surprisingly average set of strips here. I guess I'll vote for 737: Comparative Mythology. It's just... really interesting. Can't think of a better word for it than that.

Voting for 735. I like Durkon's conversations with Malack, and strip 735 is a good combination and of the Gannji-Enor plotline, with an early indication of how unpleasant Tarquin can get. And a Star Wars reference.
