The outlook is rather bleak. I have tried on several occasions this evening just gone to engage a villager on the subject of the seemingly impending tragedy, but none could be drawn into such a conversation, and in the end I simply retired to headquarters, to await the next death.

I hear the howls once more. I have not been observing them so closely for some time, yet my skill at so doing seems greater. I believe I can tell from where they are coming. I will go and investigate - someone of us must do something to halt this wanton slaughter.

...and so I return. The wolves have killed once again. I called them out to fight me, but doubtless they were glutted with the one death they already had that night, to say nothing of the disdain the group clearly showed to me some nights past. The pack seemed not even to observe me as they passed.
I tried to call out the other villagers to give the poor victim a proper burial, but they would not stir, so I did the deed all myself, hard graft though it was. Tired as I was, on completion of the task, I paused momentarily to catch my breath ere I thought to speak the last rites, and at this moment I saw standing over me a dark figure, my mysterious benefactor and encouraging correspondent, whose voice and handwriting seemed so familiar to me. He spoke the last rites, and then stood silent for a time before saying:

"She should have been here soon. A few more days at most."

"Oh my! Of course, 'tis- 'tis-"

Perhaps my brain had been dulled by some supernatural means on previous occasions, thus inhibiting my recognition, but this comment was at last enough for me to draw the obvious connection between this stranger's voice and my own experiences. I let out an exclamation of recognition, but he silenced me with a look - I could not see his face, but yet it was clear that he looked at me, or such was the distinct impression I had. Then he spoke again:

"The meeting will not take quite the form I anticipated when first I wrote her. Much has happened, though I shall still have quite a story to tell her." He turned to walk away, but said as a parting remark, "I am sorry to leave you thus alone, but loneliness is your part in this, my friend. You watch, alone and unknowing, and record the details for those to whom you may not speak. While I watch all-knowing, though equally incapable of acting or influencing, but bookend the tale with my words."
As he walked away he spoke, not to me so much as to the world at large, a short rhyme - some little doggerel which ran somewhat thus:

"Deaths have passed and time thus ran,
Some would mar and others mend,
I was here when this began
And shall remain beyond this end..."

"He's alive... he's alive... he's alive... he's alive... he's alive..."

Summary: Ghanz Nmi was killed. He was a Villager.

Hmm. Personally, I'm suspicious of Griever.

I know I can't just say something like "I've got a feeling", since today is pretty important. Here's my logic:

Well, to begin with, after our seer died he pointed at Lex-Kat instead of The Fiery Tower (who we lynched. He was a wolf). Then he didn't post on the day we lynched Zanshin, another wolf. By the way, notice that he's been under the radar for the entire game. Then, he was third on the madeyegeorge bandwagon on Day 19, when we barely lynched Tydude (who was a wolf).

He doesn't have a very good track record.

So we're down to about 2 wolves?

As a narrator, I know that many autolynches are power roles, but a little more on average are Villagers. Don't quote me on that for this bunch of remaining players, but I know my role...

Anyone that was not an autolynch replacement has a slightly higher suspicion for me - but that means diddly sqaut as my track record is terrible.

If we lose a Villager today, and another tonight - that takes the wolves down to another nail biting vote for them, before a potential win with a night kill. And that's if I'm right with 2 wolves. If it's more, then we could already be screwed.

I'm suspicious of Lex-kat leading the vote off with me, and support lynching Lex-kat or Griever.

Someone with more vested interest - please show me some trumped up evidence, and I'll roll with a better vote choice.

VA_Beds, I really have no defense against your accusations and agree that my actions could be conceived as wolf-like, although I've been so busy recently, almost all of my points have been random, and I've always been one to not follow bandwagons.

Lex-Kat, do you have some evidence or analysis as regards Griever? I'd really like to know sooner than later if you do.

Or are you just pointing VA_Beds randomly? He's the only guaranteed villager left right now, because he swung the Tydude lynch on Day 19. Because of his vote, we lynched a werewolf instead of a villager. So are you really saying that he's a werewolf, at this point in the game?

It is all so perfectly clear to me now, the handwriting, the mannerisms, everything is so clear, just as it was to poor Captain Sanderson - everything but the references he makes to his so-called 'role' in the course of events. That I do not understand. But nonetheless his identity is unquestionable. He is alive, as I said."
"We can only say with absolute certainty that he was alive, ma'am. True, this record is fairly recent, but under such fantastical circumstances as we read about in these accounts, we can be sure of nothing it seems."
She glared at him.
"Very well, the next day. Is there any mention of him?"
"Um... the townsfolk lynched the one griever at the grave... reasoned he must be a wolf since how else did he know about the death and the grave since no-one knew who dug it... no mention-"
"The next record, then!"
"They were correct, it-"
"Next record!"

Summary: Griever was lynched. He was a Werewolf.

He visited me again tonight. He asked me:
"Why do you sit here so complacently as one of your fellows is slaughtered? True, you could do nothing to stop it, but a little show of emotion would not be entirely out of place."
I responded, "Our numbers have so dwindled. What are the losses we suffer now compared to those which have already passed? Besides, I do not know the people who remain, and they do not know me. They do not even acknowledge my presence any longer."
"And you would pass over their deaths callous and apathetic for that?"
"There is no bond between us. We may as well be of separate worlds. I observe, but I feel nothing of their pain any longer. And who are you to take this moral high ground with me, you who stand so aloof, who watch and lurk and do nothing and care nothing either!"
"I care."
"But you do not act."
"I may not act. Until the end which is near now."
"Truly? This crisis is nearly over?"
"One way or another, it cannot last much longer."
"Thank God... yet I will still not accept your moralising over me."
"I do not mean to. I question out of curiosity more than an intent to moralise. Your part in this is near played out as we approach the end, and I wonder how you will take that end."
"Truly, I do not know. With all our other companions dead before us I feel scarcely part of this world any more. Perhaps the end will recall me to it... but I cannot say for certain."

On that note we stood silent for some time, the passage of which I could not track. Neither of us spoke, nor did we move, but yet as dawn began to reach above the horizon, the light cast into the shadow where my friend had been standing revealed that he was no longer there. Such, it seems, is now his way.

Buh, Lex-kat. Sorry for not posting very much, work has been nuts and holidays don't help at all. I'll probably be out 'till the 2nd of January (so I'll most probably be out for the next day cycle, we'll see how it goes), but it looks good for us in any case. Sorry if your not a baddie, Lex!

How? How did I miss this point up to now? In the L-T papers:

It is also laid down that with each group of werewolves there shall also be one like but not like, allied but not truly one, though perhaps of greater power and providence of evil. One whose role it is to know, and to learn, what is dark, and what is hidden, a fiendish spy, set to discover the best targets among the human populace, those of power and discernment, those who would be the greatest threats, those who must die soonest. This creature would weave webs of intrigue and deception, manipulation and betrayal all abounding, calling the citizens to aid in their own damnation. This demon would take their very souls from them if it could, and perhaps sometimes it can. A Prince of lies, fallen from grace and banished to the lower places, but dwelling not in fire, but rather in fae-like trickery.

Fae-like trickery. There is a young lady in the village with a great love of pixies. And as to 'what is hidden'? How else would one explain the fact that no other in the settlement will now so much as acknowledge my existence? It must be the trickery of this wicked individual! I shall go and confront her.

She denied all knowledge of the strange and depressing circumstances in which I find myself. Or at least, she denied responsibility for them. She spoke somewhat of the mythical 'Trickster', acting through me, or some such nonsense. That I am some 'avatar' of this Trickster - a vessel for this game of his, to feed his amusement! I asked her, then why was I previously acknowledged by my military comrades, she said merely that it was the will of the Trickster, or that they were somehow special, and likewise for why she could still see and hear me. Utter nonsense, I was certain of it. But then the villagers burst in, seized my infuriating interlocutor and dragged her out to the gallows. She died screaming that one more human would die tonight. A brief post-mortem examination revealed little out of the ordinary - mere subtleties, small horns almost concealed by hair, and eyes glowing red and malevolent. A definite victory for humanity, though it comes too late to save many. And I find myself desensitised to it all. I retain my apparent invisibility, suggesting that after all, she was not responsible, and as my fellows no longer perceive my existence, I feel a great disconnect from them, despite my obvious former loyalties.

Summary: Lex-kat was lynched. She was the Devil.
