Fantastic answer! One of the finest pieces of cinema out there, I say.

For me it's unquestionably Terminator 2. The only thing I don't like about this movie is that it has more sequels.

I have so many favorite movies, its so hard to pick only one.

Instead, I'll mention that my favorite movies always include good characterization. And that I tend to go for animated movie a bit more then real life people.

I think instead of picking " my favorite movie", I'll go with the one I would suggest to anyone to watch:

    Coraline

Yes, even childrens should be allowed to watch this I believe. This is a wonderful piece of art, interesting characters and really creative.

As a kid, it was Hoodwinked!, no question. A surprisingly complex plot for a kid's movie, catchy songs, a couple of fun action sequences, and plenty of jokes that still make me laugh to this day made a perfect recipe for ten-year-old me. We used to watch it yearly as a family and enjoyed it every time, and both me and my parents still quote it now and again.

Nowadays I'd have to say Moonstruck, which is ironic considering it's so far out of my normal sci-fi/fantasy wheelhouse. But it's extremely well paced (until the end, at least), has an impeccably strong sense of place and tone, and does a really good job of distributing dramatic weight among its cast, which is a feat just about every other modern ensemble film I've watched struggle with in a mighty way. Just... top-grade filmmaking across the board. Helps that it's super quotable, too.

    Goodfellas.

Also, love anime, yet never cared for any of the movies (...which i've always found strange).

I'll have to second the Blues Brothers. Hilarious, endlessly quotable, almost singlehandedly responsible for reviving the popularity of the Blues, and even the 'making of' documentary is funny (as an example, when they got Cab Calloway into the studio to record his track of 'Minnie the Moocher', he apparently went in, delivered a middling performance, and when he came out, he was like "So how was that?" and the producers were going "Er... it was kinda okay, but... you're Cab Calloway, man, it should be GREAT!" At which point Cab gives them a look, goes "Well why didn't you TELL me you wanted great?", stomps back into the studio, and proceeds to absolutely kill it.) One of the only movies I can watch over and over.

... and now I've got "She Caught the Katie" stuck in my head, heh. Great driving music, that.

I'm sure it's been suggested to you in the past, but on the offchance that it hasn't, have you tried Miyazaki's Studio Ghibli body of work? It's some impressive cinema (with incredible soundtracks)- some standouts would be Howl's Moving Castle, Princess Mononoke, Spirited Away, Laputa: Castle in the Sky, Nausicca of the Valley of the Wind, and Ponyo on the Cliff (yes, those are just the standouts. Hayao Miyazaki has been a busy boy).

Watched Princess Mononoke and it felt really flat to me.

I just don't think the movie format suits anime that well. (visuals aside...)

Ghibli's Castle in the Sky has a damned good shot at the "single favorite movie" for me, really.

Also, ellenate, you seen The Iron Giant? Not anime, but animated, and another of the contenders for the top spot in my list.

Aww yeah, T2 was a masterpiece action movie. It does everything right that a sequel needs to do (plus cheesy Arnold lines FTW) :3

I don't know what you're talking about... The franchise clearly ended at T2 and no other movies were ever made.

Nope. Not a single one. No, sir.

I don’t really have a favorite so much as a core group of movies.

    Godfather Part 2
The Lord of the Rings, but mostly Two Towers
    The Dark Knight
    Duck Soup
    Arsenic and Old Lace
    Die Hard
    Jurassic Park
    Captain America: Winter Soldier
The Good the Bad and the Ugly
    Unforgiven
    Ran
    Pulp Fiction

I think I watch these movies every couple of years. Which is interesting to me, since there are movies that on an initial watching I would rate my enjoyment higher than some of the above listed, but I never feel the need to go back and rewatch.

And also I once loved "Aliens" a lot. Specifically the second part, not whole series.

Flipped for me. I wasn't a big fan of infinity war. Endgame just felt like a better film. I could care about the characters, and the choices made by them made more sense to me. Infinity war felt like a bunch of action setpieces with little emotion connecting them.
