Tomorrow, I'm going to sit down, and try to figure out some way of configuring A Midnight Nightmare into googledoc format. (I haven't *quite* figured out the best way to separate the excerpts without making it too annoying for the reader.)

Seriously? Here's what I'd do if I were a 6th level or higher villain.

Use chain-binding to get violated cursed blazing radiant sonic-admixtured Psychic Poison cast and rendered permanent on myself, my belongings, and any areas I plan to frequent.

Use divination to find out the next time someone will divine you.

Keep a cache of scrolls to counter-divine when you are divined upon.

Use brute-force planar physics to have a bunch of specially prepared shock troops curb-stomp the now stat drained, damaged and blinded foes whilethey try to figure out how to undo the damage thy just permanently suffered.

A lot of people seem to speak from character design theory, rather than actual gameplay experience. A wizard can be pretty good by simply scrying weaknesses before going on an adventure, as I understand, and they can have a pretty good "general" spell selection for just about anything. However, I've never played in a game where everyone has unlimited time to do whatever they want before running off for adventure.

And there are plenty of ways to avoid scrying. Mind Blank, as a single spell, pretty much renders the strategy ineffective. Sure, you could scry on the location rather than the person, but how do you find out where they are located if you can't scry or get any information about them?

And as you point out, some scrying trap + Detect Scrying works just as well.

I'd imagine that she thought it was some sort of vegetable juice blend, like V8.

Of course, the real question is why in the world somepony would put the hot sauce with the drinks?

Hmm.... V8 is actually a good answer. I just don't drink that or anything like it normally (I stick to mostly water and milk)so I guess it just didn't occur to me.

"Shut up!" Tirek punched him in the solar plexus, and for an instant there was nothing in the world but pain. Something had snapped inside of him, and it felt like his ribs were on fire. When everything came back into focus, Tirek was in mid tirade. "... sick of you other beings! The incessant talking! The thoughts, the beliefs behind those thoughts, all of it! Just shut up and die with dignity!"
It was hard to think of a response, though the demon was obviously holding off another attack because... why? The demon hated the talking and thinking of others; why was he waiting for him to answer? Did Tirek, deep down, really care about what other beings thought? Was this all a desperate cry for help from a being who felt so isolated and picked on that he assumed that everypony's thoughts and words could only be intended to hurt him?
Wow, Tirek must have hit Soarin pretty hard if he was taking that idea seriously.
