Random thoughts about NCftPB strips
Thoughts I had while re-reading all of OOTS, part 2.
#135: Nice foreshadowing.
#137: Is this from Monty Python too? "Lord Banjo never wanted to be in your stupid pantheon anyway"?
#141: Contradiction? Elan says his first job was being herald for a mighty knight.
Spoiler
But why does he say "Not again!" when Sir Francois abandons him?
#143: There's the GM speaking. "Grr, OK."
#162: I'd like to see that date in another flashback.
#166: Again the "wizards vs. sorcerors" thing.
#182: Purple speech bubbles? I'll have to check the comic for more appearances.
#184: The first Seinfeld moment. (Or the second one? When did Origins come out again?)
#186: Uh. V is still pissed off because they didn't turn him/her back into an elf ASAP?
#189: The proof - Miko > Samantha, Samantha > OOTS.
#195: I must say, it wasn't that smart of Serini to write this diary. But as Elan proves, high levels and high intelligence don't necessarily come together.
#199: It's true in some way - it didn't rain in the strip before (OK, they were in a dungeon most of the time), and neither in Origins.
#203: Roy is definitely lying about Belkar's evilness. Can he do that as a lawful character?
And in what way has V tempered with the forces of nature - at least, how was s/he different from all the other wizards out there? We need a prequel for that.
#208: If I didn't say it then: It definitely makes sense that very low negatives become positives - in computer programming.
#210: Are the Flumphs eaten?
#216: AoO again. :D There must be one in every book.
#224: "No rules for sleeping" - from Rich's other comic.
#228: Despite being Chaotic, Belkar certainly knows how to use Law.
#231: Roy and his Dad both like good-looking women. (But which man doesn't?)
#261: "emotional duress" - so Miko didn't forget how Belkar ordered his own room in the Inn? That's ironic revenge.
#276: Hey kids! Note that foreshadowing! We'll see those landscapes again! (And in better style too!)
Serini once loved Girard, but now she seems to have become fond of Kraagor. How so? Yes, we need an OotScribble prequel.
#300: Er, ghoul horde? Xykon doesn't make them zombies anymore?

Re: Random thoughts about NCftPB strips
OK, for some reason I had thought that he was Elan's first employer.

Re: Random thoughts about NCftPB strips
1. I know Erfworld isn't from Rich. But he made another, more realistically drawn comic - unfortunately I lost the link. It's about some gamers, one of them a powergamer who finds out that D&D characters don't have to sleep because there are, as said, no rules for sleeping. :-D
2. The other OOTScribble chars aren't that sad.

Re: Random thoughts about NCftPB strips
I'm sure I'll feel stupid for this, but what did #135 foreshadow?
Yes. None of us have ever tampered with the fundamental natural order when bored. That would be wrong.
Personal assassain for House Kato.

Re: Random thoughts about NCftPB strips
I'm not sure exactly what you're talking about, but there was a Dragon OOTS strip in which the Order met a Monk who doesn't sleep or bathe, and only eats a terrible gruel once every three days, because there are no rules for those things. Maybe you're thinking of that? I've never heard of any other comics drawn by Rich...

Re: Random thoughts about NCftPB strips
Ah, I know the strip you're referring to. Can't remember the name at the moment. It only has about ten strips. I found it a few months ago. I forgot about that joke.
Alas, google searches are turning up nothing.
I thought Lirian was pretty sad, and Girard just seemed to be channeling his mourning towards anger at Soon. I just see Sereni as being the overly emotional halfling type.

Re: Random thoughts about NCftPB strips
The other comic Rich briefly drew was called Five Foot Steps.

Re: Random thoughts about NCftPB strips
The Historian: This DM has the history of his world written out millenniums back. It is intricate, complex, and most importantly, incredibly long. Moreover, everything your characters are doing is based on the previous history. It also tends to lead to loudmouth NPCS who will explain hundreds of years of history at a time while the players try to gouge their eardrums out with mechanical pencils.

Re: Random thoughts about NCftPB strips
!99: It definitely rains in a sequence of Origins pages. But for dramatic purposes, of course.
There aren't really any exclusive or original ideas on TVTropes. That's kind of the point.
