Re: [Nexus] Nexus OOC XX: The Land of Pokings
I am kind of waiting for iElf to react, but I can have the one-armed girl react tomorrow if it takes too long.
Or I could summon Silent Hill to teach iElf to never ever leave their computer again. Both work.Last edited by Mina Kobold; 2011-07-09 at 04:29 PM.

Re: [Nexus] Nexus OOC XX: The Land of Pokings
Looking at GLoG's title, or more accurately the thread number, and I notice a mistake. The Ancient Romans didn't have subtraction; or rather, if they did (which is likely) then V - I + IIII rather than V - I = IV. A Roman would look at IV and see a grammatically incorrect VI.
Isn't that a fun and useless little factoid?Terrowin Avatar by HappyTurtle. Much thanks!

Re: [Nexus] Nexus OOC XX: The Land of Pokings
Whilst it is hardly a trustworthy source, especially about the more obscure subjects that might be editted without notice, Wikipedia says that Roman Numerals started as a tallying system; IIIIVIIII meaning eight. The V is evidence of four before it so they were dropped off eventually leaving VIIII meaning eight. But as it evolved, and especially after the Fall of the Roman Empire, it was presumably adapted and changed.
Also, my wireless mouse's battery has died. Not bad going, given that I don't think I've changed it since I got it at Christmas and is therefore my most used present. But the batteries are kept with the Wii in my sister's bedroom as the Wiimotes need battery changes more often than anything else and her room's locked as she's asleep. So I shall Deadtime now; goodnight. Type tomorrow, probably.Terrowin Avatar by HappyTurtle. Much thanks!

Re: [Nexus] Nexus OOC XX: The Land of Pokings
Nope. I like my Roman Numerals. When you make the thread, you can use the hindu-arabic.
And through my lifetime, I've never seen VIIII = 8. I have seen IV or IIII = 4. But V has always = 5, so VIIII would be 9.
Now, if we wish to travel in time, and find out how the Romans really did it; get me a TARDIS, and I'll happily do so.
Discussion ended on my side.
EDIT: And I used a Roman Numeral generator. So that's as accurate as I can get it.

Re: [Nexus] Nexus OOC XX: The Land of Pokings
Internet outage presents me with two options: slog through posting on my phone or wait it out.
For this reason I'll be off for a while, possibly napping to pass the time. Or I might end up actually sleeping 'til morning. :J
Either way, sorry to anyone who needs me.🔜 🆒️ 🚰

Re: [Nexus] Nexus OOC XX: The Land of Pokings
As expected, I have crashed hard after arriving home. I'm just glad the crash waited and let me have a couple of frenzied days with the family as we rushed to get everything done (including a very last minute mexican meal on Sat lunch, from which we left directly for the airport!) and two trips to the fabric store in two days! I'm also grateful that I didn't crash while travelling.
I won't be posting today. I may not be posting tomorrow either. We'll just have to see how it goes. As always, if my characters are in the way, feel free to godmod them (within reason) to allow rp to progress. Though I can't remember at all if that's a factor.
