[Nexus] MURDER II: Actual Levels of Murder May Vary

[Operative's Office]

"You wish for the death to be painless? You feel sentiment for a target?" When Crossbones crouches, the Operativtries to do a few things. He tries to yank Trissy to her feet and drag the sack off of her, then he tries to stab the knife through one of her eyes.

[Hattish Thing]

Operative's Room

Crossbone lets the operative scoop up Trissy without argument. Just...her...she's so much like...No. Crossbone watches blankly as Trissy most likely gets stabbed in the eye. No...you're right. I feel no sentiment. She is meat.

[Dark Elf Bard]

A naked, pregnant drow is hoisted out of the bag. The knife opens a small cut under her eye, but a small burst of pink light opens and deflects almost all of the damage.

[Front]

Evan, Trissy's dad and Marty should be here by now.

[Devixer]

[Operative's Office]

The Operative doesn't visibly react to Trissy somehow not dying from the stabbing. Instead, he does two more things at once. He tries to determine any psychic defences, and attempts to snap her neck, something that requires little to no effort for the Operative.

[The Front]

The bar looks like any other bar. Patrons are at tables with their drinks, and there's a bar with a bartender.

Evan steps up to the bartender. He looks different than when he left the Sleeping Goblin, not physically, but in the way that he carries himself. There is seeming lack of any concern in his bearing as he sits down. His eyes are the real change though, they are empty of anything, positive or negative.

Afternoon. Come on you two, lets sit a minute.

He calls back to Marty and Trissy's father.

Operative's Room

Crossbone watches grimly, still looking rather glum. He's swallowing his snide remarks, valuing his job to be greater than the drow's life. However, he does let a confused look show on his skull. What isss....going on....sssir? Isss Ssshe....alive?

Meanwhile...

Marty follows Evan, looking frightened and very worried.

[Lobby]

Sarah is in the lobby, reading a rather saucy-looking book she picked up while in town. She intended to let the Operative know that she's fit for duty again, but does not want to interrupt whatever's going on in there...

[Lobby]

Fade who was here all the time steps out of the dark. He looks emotionless as ever, but as he notice Sarah his eyes widen for a moment. He keeps standing there for a few moments befor he speaks up.

"Hey." he says while waving at her. "What are you reading?"

It's not like Fade really wants to knoe, but she has helped him a while back and Fade tries to be gentle.

Trissy's dad sits, worried. He looks up and down at the place, seeing the green trail lead into the bathroom.

Trissy has extremely powerful magic defenses. Her neck is not snapped, as another flash of pink deflects it. She does start to wake up.

"Oh!"

Sarah appears visibly startled by Fade's appearance from nowhere, and perhaps a bit more given the bright red flush to her cheeks.

"I, um, nothing!"

The book is quickly and rather poorly hidden behind her back.

Operative's Room

Crossbone grimaces. Each time the stupid drowess wouldn't die, made him look stupid. This drow was starting to be a pain. He was sure he'd feel bad later, but instead just stated. Here...let me....sssir. He'll move to Trissy and try to lop off her hands with his very sharp black dagger. Maybe the ssspell will not work if we kill her indirectly...

The knife is warded off as the pink flashes again! When Crossbone hits the magic, Trissy is out off balance and falls into him.

Evan looks up at the bar tender with those same empty eyes.

I want to see the boss. I have a contract.

Chesslyn puts a reassuring hand on Marty's shoulder and stands, stretching.

[Lobby]

"Oh!"

Sarah appears visibly startled by Fade's appearance from nowhere, and perhaps a bit more given the bright red flush to her cheeks.

"I, um, nothing!"

Well Fade was here all the time he just likes it a bit darker than other people.

"But you where reading a book a moment ago. I still see the edges from here."

Sarah inwardly scowls. That lie is supposed to always work on people!

"Erm...

...It's a spellbook that I was studying. Really!"

"Contract? What are you talking about?" The bartender doesn't react beyond that.

[Operative's Office]

The Operative tries to grab Trissy by her throat and pull her off of Crossbones in an attempt to just strangle her, with the aid of his psionics. This convenient magical protection was beginning to irritate him.

There is allways one out of thousands who don't fall for it.
Fade stops walking staring at Sarah and the book.

"Must be some kind of forbidden magic, right? Otherwise it would be stupid to try to hide it, since this draws even more attention than just going on."

"Um, sure. Let's go with that."

Office

The light flashes again, much, much weaker. After a few tries, the Operative is able to close his fist around her throat. As she chokes, she wakes up quickly with wide, scared eyes. She takes a swing at him with a small fist as he chokes her.

Evan rolls his eyes.

"Please don't play games with me. You'll meet Jormungandr if you do. All I want to do is meet the boss."

[Lobby]

"Go with that? Does that mean I'm wrong? It's not like I would realy use it against you or such."

Operative's Room

Crossbone frowns at the drow, as she aims to punch the Operative, Crossbone stands there. He figures the operative could handle a poor, undefended drow. Ssshe fightsss for her life you sssee...Ssshall you end it? Or am I to do the deed...I am getting tired of sssstanding...

[Lobby]

Sarah sighs.

"...Why do you care so much? Are my hobbies your business now?"

...Now you're just changing the subject!

Some moments of silence pass.

"Kind of. Let's go with that"

Again another moments pass just to watch the reaction of Sarah. Maybe this scares her or amuse her. Either way, et's get back to topic.

"And what's your answer?"

[Devixer]

[Operative's Office]

"I already told you to get out," the Operative says to Crossbones as he deflects Trissy's presumably weak swing with his free arm.

[The Front]

"You know, threatening someone isn't a great way to get what you want," the bartender says as he keeps cleaning the counter.

Op's Office

Trissy again swings at him weakly, and chokes out a sound. Why? Wh- acck... who?

((Wow, a naked attractive drow woman standing around and no one even blushes! ))

More silence. Sarah just kind of stares, slightly slack-jawed, and blinks twice.

"...I'm going back to my room. Now."

She stands up and is about to walk into the elevator when she notices she's missing something important. Meanwhile, the book is just sitting in that spot where she was hiding it with her torso.

Helpless. Unprotected.

"...Oops."
