"Not very good wine, but it's what I have." Vinny informs her as he grabs a bottle and pours a glass for her. "Suppose ya probbly figured out what I am to Billie then, Ma'am."

"I have," Elaine says, reddening a little. "Billie and I have very different values."

Outside of Trog's

Vincent was waiting for Caroline to give a suggestion, but then remembers she can't talk in the middle of dialogue choices like this. On one hand, fighting might cause a cool item to drop or something. On the other hand, quests are almost guaranteed to do that. And it's not like they have to do whatever it is if they don't want to, if crazy fish guy is any example.

Vincent chooses accept quest and presses A.

"A wise decision. Now then, I was out in an area away from the city, doing a bit of research, when I was attacked by a creature. Normally, that wouldn't be much of a problem, but when it left, it took with it a device of mine. I would really like that device back, so if you fetch it for me, I will reward you."

Mr E goes back to leaning against the lamp post.

Oookaay. Do we get a better description of the device and the beast who stole it? Caroline asks, stepping closer.

Vinny shrugs at that and proceeds to turn on his record player to the sound of slow smooth jazz. "Maybe, but she's a perfectly nice dame and I'm sure you are too." He admits before he starts to fill his sink with hot soapy water in order to do dishes. His night's plans were probably ruined so he might as well get something done. ""Is there anything else ya'd like, ma'am? Just because yous was unexpected doesn't mean I shouldn't ignore ya."

Oookaay. Do we get a better description of the device and the beast who stole it? Caroline asks, stepping closer.

"It was a device similar to a camera, only designed to take pictures of auras. As for the beast, well... I did have another recording device with me. Let's see."

Purple-Hat reachs into his pocket, and pulls out a small device.

"Here we are." He presses a button, and an image appears from the device.

"Which area outside of the city?" Vincent asks.

"Hmm, what was the name? The Hunting Grounds? Something like that."

Purple-hat shrugs his shoulders.

"Oh, sorry. My player thought you were on the other side of the bar." Ekkehard nods at Kareem's words. "I don't think he's coming back. Called me a 'meanie-face'." The last is said in a sort of bewildered manner.

Zefir takes another nip of his drink before speaking up.

"Yeah I saw him outside as I entered. I just wonder why they still enter. There is a sign outside and it seems most non-humans can't read."

He giggles a bit like making a bad joke.

Elaine relaxes slightly when Vinny starts doing dishes. She'd been afraid he'd expect her to pick up where Billie left off - some of her paramours did. Some of them had to be dissuaded violently, but even with the self-defence classes that Henry had insisted she take, she could tell that she wouldn't have been able to stop Vinny or even slow him down.

"I should probably try to get home." Elaine says. "Is this the city of Inside?"

Kareem just shrugs. "Maybe he couldn't. Didn't seem too bright."

Well, that doesn't seem too hard a quest. Caroline looks at Vincent. I think we should do it.

"It's more straightforward than any of the fish related quests we got." Vincent says with a shrug. He doesn't see why not.

"After I cycle through this guy's conversation options of course."

[Blue Zone Streets]

Calvin staggers a bit as he walks down a sidewalk on an footbridge over a highway. He had been in a bar watching some men for his uncle when it had hit. He wasn't drunk but everything had started spinning, it was hard to focus on anything. He didn't remember leaving the bar but he felt like he had been walking for awhile. He wasn't sure how he had ended up walking down the street but it didn't seem like a big deal.

The fact that he should be more concerned about all this does cross his mind. He pulls out his cell phone and dials the number Charity gave him. He sure hopes she picks up.

Charity picks up. "Calvin?" Of course, her phone knows the number.

"Charity, oh good. Hey are you busy?"

Calvin sounds a bit weird having a hard time getting his thoughts to match the words he is saying. And Charity might hear the noise of the highway below him as he leans over the edge of the bridge looking down.

Charity is actually rather busy studying for an exam, but she is concerned enough about Calvin to downplay it. "No, just a bit of studying. What's up?" If she knew he was leaning over a bridge, she'd be far more concerned.

"Um, I think something is wrong with me. I think someone might have slipped me something. I don't know what to do."

Calvin leans back up and starts to pace back and forth on the bridge.

Charity is immediately alert. "Where are you? Do you know if you're near any of the emergency clinics? Stay on the phone, tell me where you are."

[McBish]

"I am on a footbridge over the highway."

He gives her brief directions to where he is.

"I don't know where a clinic is near here. I am not to fond of going to hospitals."

"Okay, get off the bridge. That's not safe. Get off the bridge and sit down on solid ground and I'll be right there, as quick as I can, okay?" Charity says, while she's grabbing her messenger bag and keys, moving towards the door.

"Charity that is just silly. People use this bridge all the time. But OK, I will get off the bridge."

Well pretty quick. He takes another few seconds of leaning over the edge of the bridge just staring down at the cars driving down below him.

"Thanks Charity."

"Most of those people haven't been slipped a mickey. You might pass out. Get off the bridge, and stay on the phone." Charity says. She's already out the door and headed towards the Riftline station. It will be 5-10 minutes before she gets there, but she'll try to keep him talking the whole time.

Calvin walks off the bridge and finds a patch of grass to sit down on. Keeping him talking doesn't seem to be a problem. Though the conversation may not make too much sense and seems to jump from random topic to random topic. One second he is talking about being followed in the city, then he is talking about hunting deer. Very hard to follow.

Charity still has the phone on one ear when she arrives. In the other hand, she has a bottle of liquified activated charcoal. "You need to drink this. It's pretty icky, but it should absorb what's in you."

Calvin takes the bottle and looks at it skeptically. Then he opens it up and takes a drink and manages not to spit it back up.

"This stuff is terrible. How much do I have to drink?"

"It's 1 gram per kilogram of body weight. That means the whole bottle for you." Charity says. "The charcoal binds to whatever drugs are in your system to keep them from affecting you, okay?"

Calvin makes a face showing he would much rather just toss the bottle and just trust that he could ride it out. But he knows he is in no mindset to really be making that call. So he downs the whole bottle gagging a bit at the end.

"Charity, I think it somehow messed with my mind. I am not thinking straight. Or I am, but I am not thinking like myself."

Charity sits down next to him - close enough to take hold of him and hit her teleport recall if she thinks he needs to be immediately taken to the infirmary. "How is it changing you? Keep talking."

[Red Zone - Just a Park]

There are several corpses left of the Chrysalids' victims. Eight of them start to rise as zombies and try to find a target.

The Chrysalids are fast and have quick reflexes, and are fairly spread out. The Fast Response Squad is going to have their work cut out for them. The SMG fire ricochets off a Chrysalid's carapace without doing any damage to it. Another is hit by two assault rifle rounds that sink into its body. It stumbles, but doesn't fall. Two grenades catch a few of them off guard as they're caught in the shrapnel, and those are slowed significantly as their legs took the brunt of it.

The bolts of fire and lightning are dodged by most of the Chrysalids, but two are hit and killed outright. Whether that's because they're weak to fire and lightning or magic is difficult to tell.

Sophia is able to hit a Chrysalid with two pistol rounds. Even enhanced, they only slow it down and grab its attention. That Chrysalid turns towards Sophia and screams before dashing towards her at speeds unexepected for a creature like this.

Of the remaining Chrysalids, the wounded ones start to scatter in an attempt to escape the park and kill more people. The five unwounded Chrysalids rush for the Remnant squad - three to the left and two to the right. They each try to inter dpt a bike and knock its rider to the ground with their bladed legs. Noah the dog is not noticed.
