Hinjo was the master, and Miko was the apprentice. That is why she killed him, she let the hate and self-righteousness flow through her, like a true Sith.

That is true, but Thor would know, and maybe would have told Durkon.

    That is not true.

And I do not get why people suggest that Rich does shaggy dog stories.

Where, exactly, do you find this "very OotS" "The thing that was built up and had a great deal of emotional weight put on it--it was never actually there, ha ha?"

Go on. Point to one strip, just one.

Ok: point taken. However, there are moments when OOTS subverts expectations, but they are usually smaller than something like Durkon’s son.

Darth Hinjo executed a classical sith apprentice grab of power, and used Miko as disposable pawn and scapegoat.

She did not fell for executing Darth Shojo, but for failing to realize she was a tool in the plans of Darth Hinjo.

After her demise, Soon's Force Ghost told her she performed adequately, but failed to redeem as she did not acknowledge her mistake. Had her recognized her mistake, then after escaping the prison, instead of bolting to protect the Gate, she would have run a beeline to kill the remaining Sith Lord, Darth Hinjo.

A better refutation would be: There are moments when OOTS subverts expectations, but always in the direction of making the emotional impact greater than what we were expecting.

Back to the topic at hand, strip 1147:

Need to know was in panel two. But we, the audience, aren't in on the things that Thor shared with Durkon(panel 11), since we don't have a need to know, yet. My previous discussion about a certain ruler of a blue land was almost on topic as we addressed the secrecy and security elements of the-plan-that-didn't-quite-work-out-but-eventually-will-by-the-end-of-book-seven-since-it-set-the-order-on-the-right-trail ... law of unintended outcomes, I suppose.

    No, no, no.

Miko didn't stand accused of killing Hinjo (although she did try), and she didn't swear it was in self-defense either.

The bottom did definitely drop out of the metaphorical bucket, though,.

Lol, the song was the first thing I thought of. However, can we really say Miko shot sliced in self-defense?

Eager to be getting back to the main crew. There's something about this whole cutaway that I'm just not very satisfied with, but it's hard to put my finger on. Something to do with the tone, maybe. There's just something lacking... but I've pretty much had that feeling about the comic after the Blood Runs in the Family book, so who knows. Maybe this'll all end up being so satisfying that I'll consider this the best arc yet.

No-- although she might try to say it-- it's not perfect. We can say that she shot the sheriff, but she did not shoot the deputy.

Just as a quick solution for the red slaad/blue slaad problem; it's possible the red slaad isn't the parent, but the midwife. And (as I said in another thread) why is everyone expecting slaad reproduction to be so predictable?
Just to divert the thread back to being about the comic, fool that I am

Slaad reproduction varies a lot from edition to edition (in 4e for example, both red and blue slaadi have "implant" rather than "disease" and produce offspring the same colour as themselves).

In 3e, the easiest way for the "tadpole chewing its way out" to be red (hence implanting the nurse) rather than blue (inflicting disease on the nurse) and for the slaad talking to the deva to be parent rather than midwife - is the Slaad Brooder PRC in Savage Species. A 7th level Slaad Brooder can choose the color of their spawn.
