This reminded me I need to change my avatar. I'm a real female, by the way, and have been around the boards since Sept 2005. I began exclusively in the RP sections but after a year or two I got distracted by real life so now I'm pretty much just in FB. I try to get back into RP periodically when life slows down.

Now off to bend my fox...that sounds dirty...

I started hanging out in the friendly banter and media forums during a GB week (07 or 08, not sure I think someone was getting married), so yeah, confusion was pretty constant for a while. And, I'm gonna go on a limb here, but I'd say that the male-centricness of the rpg forums is mostly due to

a: Total population (as in, world total)
b: The fact that the forum is about 3/4 mechanics to 1/4 rp, and from what little I know about female roleplayers (I've met a few in the flesh actually) they tend to prefer rp over mechanics and optimisation.

Welcome to life on this forum. Half the time I don't even look anymore. The understanding that there might be white text is like IRL, when someone has a really good deadpan but you've known them for years so you can sense the sarcasm.

I was soooo confused at first, especially since some people left their GB avvies up longer...

Seriously, like I said, interwebs access is much more popular in places like Europe (gets really cold, even the warm parts get rainy and dark, ya?), North America, and Japan. Add in that these are the places where people are most likely to speak English (Australia again excepted ), and, uh, yeah. I WIN!
