Angelic Wings?
On my next character I am going to be playing an Aasimar Cleric, and I was wondering if anyone knew of a legit way to get him to have angelic wings. I am hoping for something in a book I don't have, but I could go for some homebrew too.

Re: Angelic Wings?
Favoured Soul gains feathery ('angelic') wings. Its like a Cleric. Sort of.

Re: Angelic Wings?
There's the Winged template, but it's +2 LA.

Re: Angelic Wings?
favored soul (Complete Divine) gives out wings. Alternatively theres the spell Aspect of the Deity (greater?) that turns you into a half celestial/fiend which gives wings either way.

Re: Angelic Wings?
I think it's a 3rd Edition book, but there's a feat in Races of Faerun called Outsider Wings that let you grow wings and fly at your land speed with average manoeuvrability. The prereqs are to be an aasimar or tiefling, have the Celestial/Fiendish Bloodline feat (whichever applies to your chosen race) and all of your base saves have to be at least +2.
Again, I'm not sure if the book's still valid or not.Avatar of Gnar'tigor - former Star Player of the Hellborn Hooligans Blood Bowl team - by Savannah

Re: Angelic Wings?
You could also try Rainbow Savant (Complete Divine). However, two problems;
You need to be a a Wizard (Sorcerer might be better) to get into the PrC. Not such a bad deal. Since it gets Cleric spells as well. Second, the Rainbow Savant is flavour/world-specific. Your DM needs to be reasoned with if you want this class. Especially since the text of the class (not the table) makes it fairly powerful as the text says the class gains +1 arcane spellcasting every level. Wheras the table skips a few levels. Official word says text trumps table.

Re: Angelic Wings?
Is there any reason not to buy the Wings of Flying rather than the LA templates? Speed/maneuverability might not be so good, and costs 54k, but it's just trading $$$ for flight. Not sure, but it doesn't actually takes a slot too right?

Bird wings are feathered, so you could go for Dove wings, and pass that off as Celestial wings.

Re: Angelic Wings?
Wow you guys responded really fast. This is a low level campaign we are running so at the moment the prestige class does not seem the most optimal, same goes for the very expensive item there.
I am looking into the Races of Faerun thing, I happen to have that book, but Favored soul and Winged Template seem to be the most tempting at the moment, any other suggestions?

Re: Angelic Wings?
If you can swing the two feats, Outsider Wings will work as soon as all your base saves are at +2. Winged template is +2 LA, which means you'll be 2 class levels behind everyone else. Favored Soul is a decent class, but you don't get wings until level 17 -- that's probably not going to fit with your low level campaign.
If you're an Evil Aasimar Cleric you can get Feathered Wings as a Fiendish graft (Fiend Folio, page 210) for 10,000 gp.

Re: Angelic Wings?
Yeah the Favored souls level of wings really dropped its rank on the totem pole, and with the Winged template thats another two levels on top of the Aasimar one level adjustment.
Thanks for all the help I am sure one of these will work, just need to figure out which one, maybe see if me and the dm can come to some kind of arrangement, I just really like the idea of the holy warrior with angelic wings thing right now, so thats what I was going for.

Re: Angelic Wings?

And if you don't mind +2 la, go Saint. And that template works better with Lesser Aasimar than Aasimar anyway (redundant abilities, and Outsiders can't be Saints). And you get the outsider native type back.
So, for a total of +1 la, get immunities to 3 energy, more resistance to fire, some Su abilities, more +Cha Wis. (Also needs 3 exalted feats and lvl 6 though)Last edited by 2xMachina; 2010-01-03 at 07:57 AM.

Re: Angelic Wings?
There are the Infused Spellcaster/Warrior PrCs in Dragon Magazine 321, p19. They are basicly the same, Spellcaster gets spellcasting 5/10, d8 and good will save, warrior gets good BaB, good fort and d12.
They only need +2 will and BaB +4, you choose a good outsider from a list and get corresponding abilities and some other stuff. You can get wings as soon as 6th prc level.Avatar by Serpentine.

Re: Angelic Wings?
Thanks for all the help guys, I think I am going to either use the Winged Template or the Saint Template way of doing it now.

Re: Angelic Wings?
Technically you don't hafta be evil. If your nuetral you turn evil but if your good you only go mad through ability damage. So if your somehow immune to wisdom damage then you can get the graft as an exalted character and not suffer any ill effects. The Fleshwarper from Lords of Madness can gain the ability to do fiendish grafts without being a fiend or evil so you don't even need to compromise your morals by buying stuff from evil people.

Re: Angelic Wings?
If you take a dip in Binder, or take the Bind Vestige feats, you can bind Dahlver-Nar and get immunity to Wisdom damage, Wisdom drain, madness and insanity effects.
Speaking of binding, the vestige Andras gives you two grey feathered wings as his sign, but you can't fly with them.Last edited by Thurbane; 2010-01-03 at 08:30 PM.
