Battlestar Galactica WW
Battlestar Galactica, werewolfThe year is 5072 on the Kobol calendar (I have no idea when this took place, canonically. It doesn't say on the BsG wiki-page. ), and the Cylons have just reignited a war against the human population with a surprise nuclear attack.
Begins 14Mar15
Narrator: Lex-kat
Only one Battlestar, Galactica, survives the mass-destruction of the military force and retreats. You are one of the few surviving members of the crew onboard at the time of retreat. Let the fight for survival begin.
~~~~~~~~~~~~~Mechanically, this game begins right after the Battlestar Galactica initially leaves Caprica in retreat. They have not even picked up the civilian fleet, it's just the Galactica and it's raptors and vipers.
You are the unnamed crew: the pilots, mechanics, bridge officers, cooks, etc. Whatever you think most likely would have been on the ship just before the cylon attack. This does include reporters and construction workers, as the Galactica was undergoing renovations to become a living museum, if you remember.
~~~~~~~~~~~~~
Spoiler: RULES25% plurality rule: During the day the players need a 25% plurality for anyone to be lynched.
Striking Through Votes: Please strike out old votes, when changing to another. This helps out the narrator when counting the votes. When I tally the votes, if you do not do this, I will count your first vote.
Autolynches: I will be autolynching players only if they do not vote for 3 days straight. Of course, if you let me know that you will be gone for more than a week, I will give you a pass.
No Lynchs: Votes for No Lynch do not count, for anything.
FC's Rule of Narrator Invocation: If you claim that the Narrator made a mistake, and the Narrator is asked about it, the Narrator will answer honestly. So don't use the Narrator's name in vain.
Dead Remain Dead: After you have died DO NOT TALK TO THE LIVING PLAYERS ABOUT THE GAME, even if you have access to another's QT.
Have Fun: If you are not having fun, please let me know so we can change your mind.
Spoiler: Roles
Spoiler: The GalacticaCrew Member (Villagers)- Mechanics, Bridge Officers. If you're not part of Violet Flight, you are one of these.
Radar Officer (Seer)- Scanning space for incoming attacks. You are the only trained officer at the position. Each night you scry for Cylons. You can only read active Cylons, not sleepers.
Marine Lt. (Baner)- May bane one player during the night phase, saving that person from a night lynch. If a sleeper is baned AND attacked by the assassins, the sleeper will be awakened.
Violet Flight (Masons)- The best, and only, full compliment squadron to stay with the Galactica. Because you have been together for so long, you easily recognize each other in the ensuing chaos.
Spoiler: CylonsCylons- There will be one Cylon for every five players (actually, it's more like 1-7= 1, 8-12= 2, 13-17= 3, and so on.). Except, at the beginning of the game, only two Cylons are active. There is only 1 night kill, per night.
After a Cylon is killed, one of the remaining Sleepers is PMd, letting him/her know that she is in fact a Cylon.
The Cylons will all be picked at the beginning of the game. But some will be sleeper Cylons. Not knowing what they are until one of the active Cylons dies, or they are targeted by a night kill.
If a sleeper Cylon dies, it will not be mentioned to the players.
If, the Cylons attempt to kill a sleeper Cylon, the Cylons lose the night kill, and it is announced that a sleeper has awakened.
If there is more than two Cylons awake at any one time, then another is not awakened until...
a) He's targeted at night.
b) There is only one awake Cylon at the end of the day (unless that is the last Cylon, of course).
Sleepers scry as villagers, until woken.

Re: Battlestar Galactica WW
I'll be in. Are there any events in the game or just standard play? Just asking because it seems like it'd be a good setting for interesting events and such.
Edit: My character will be a Viper pilot. I'll think up more details later.Last edited by Ramsus; 2015-03-01 at 03:33 PM.

Re: Battlestar Galactica WW
I saw BG and got really exited!
Could someone explain exactly what this game is, please? That first post says "Mechanically, this game begins right after the Battlestar Galactica initially leaves Caprica in retreat" but it doesn't really say what the game actually is....Last edited by calebrus; 2015-03-01 at 04:15 PM. It is a WW game. You can check the central for the full rules on how WW games work. It is the stacked thread at the top of this subforum.

Re: Battlestar Galactica WW
OK, I looked over the thread (and some of the ridiculous number of links provided therein) and I think I get it.... Thanks.
I'd like to play if I can. And I'll look over some of those links more carefully to see if I can't get a better grasp before this starts (in a couple of weeks if I'm reading it right?).Last edited by calebrus; 2015-03-01 at 05:30 PM.

Re: Battlestar Galactica WW
In a couple weeks, yes. The most important link to read over, for this game, is Assassins. This game's mechanics are based directly off that game. So, check it out. See if they make sense to you, and ask questions if they don't.

Re: Battlestar Galactica WW
Do we have to pick an occupation? Is it going to affect the game at all or is it just fluff? Or will I figure out the answer to that when I browse through the other thread?

Re: Battlestar Galactica WW
I'm in, as long as my knowledge of BS coming entirely from the boardgame doesn't matter? I'm always the woman that gets thrown in the brig at the halfway point through the game - Boomer, I think her name is. Saves the cylons the bother of doing it themselves.

Re: Battlestar Galactica WW
It won't. Thematic role-play is nice, but being fully informed of the subject matter is never necessary unless the Narrator clarifies otherwise. Besides, a significant continent of the fan base doesn't acknowledge parts of the canon like the ending. Or everything after season 2.
Hmm. My hesitation for joining is things are kind of stacked against the town. A normal cult at least can be tracked, but sleepers mean it's entirely possible (and very probable) that a player who everyone trusts as town because she was town suddenly betrays everyone in Act 3, and we don't usually see enough activity to note raw tonal changes, a lot of analysis comes from factoring in past actions. Especially if the final sleeper awakens near the end. Actually, with this mechanic, it's entirely possible the town enters into a un-winnable scenario several days before the climax. Having an unmitigated Seer offsets that somewhat, but the fact that the Seer can only verify a players actions at time of scry is still quite a nerf, to the extent it arguably makes Masons the most potent faction at the beginning. I'm assuming the Cylons can only awaken from Vanilla townies?Last edited by Legato Endless; 2015-03-02 at 10:05 AM.

Re: Battlestar Galactica WW
It's just fluff. I try to use the RP to enhance the narrations. If you don't RP (optional), I'll just make something up for you.
Your knowledge is only less than mine, apparently. I have watched the whole series, minus The Plan. Also, as a bonus, I also watched the entire 1978 season, and don't remember any of the 1980 disaster.
It may seem stacked against the village, but I promise you, this game has been won by the villagers. There are only two wolves to start with. They can, and have, helped lynch sleepers because they don't know who they are any more than the villagers do. The villagers have the help of a baner, seer, and a small contingent of masons. The game is actually balanced, amazing enough.
As proof, read the first two games and notice that although the village loss both times, they were very close games, coming down to the last one, and then two, assassin(s).
I don't remember the third game and beyond quite as well, unfortunately. Though they were fun, for everyone, I believe.

Oh, I should probably be a different character from the CoK to try and keep these guys straight. I'll be Technical Officer, 1st Class, Gavin Adoni.

Re: Battlestar Galactica WW
Nope. I never even realized the Assassin Creed series existed until perhaps Assassin's Creed II, perhaps III? Not really sure when I discovered they existed. Again, I haven't played any of them. *shrugs* This was before I ever played Battlestar Galactica or S.E.U. WW. And I never played Paranoia, the werewolf game nor the RL game.
So yes, it was all my own imagination. I'm not 100% certain how the game idea came to me, but I think mostly it was a mix of trying to find something new and interesting, and wanting a mechanic where the wolves were literally wearing villager-suits. The Sleepers don't even know they are assassins, so how can they act wolfy?
I wonder if there is some psychology at work though. I mean, when the Sleepers awaken, do they start playing differently? I think the game also makes players have to pay attention. You can't relax. You shouldn't trust any vanillager. The Seer isn't 100% all-knowing.
To make sure everyone understands, only "Villagers" can be Sleepers. The Masons, Baner, and Seer are all trustworthy.
At the end, the Seer, if they are still alive, has to scry even those villagers they have already looked at.

Re: Battlestar Galactica WW
Oh yes, a name. I'll be Sharon "Boomer" Valerii, in homage to my continuously awful performances in the BSG boardgame. I should probably point out that I have never once been a cylon in that game, despite you know, being the character that is actually a sleeper cylon.
