"You said that you're interested in acquiring bodies?", the person on the other end, apparently a woman with a rather pleasant voice, inquires.

The voice is quiet and not all that articulate.

Kareem studies Zifar. He seems to be perpetually angry, and that probably makes him dangerous. Maybe they don't want him in their group. But perhaps they could run a test.

After Maeve is gone, Kareem says, "You seem like a man who wants to change things."

Perpetually? Not really the statement from him to the man was in a friendly sound. Just forgot to mention it. As the man spoke up the desert came so Zefir didn't answer immediatelly. He takes a bite of it.

"Depends. I don't want to change the dessert it's deliciouse."

Calvin is out running, not from anything, just running. He runs randomly at obstacles to see how he can overcome them. He had kicked off his shoes before he started, so he was running barefoot. He leaps over walls, climbs up walls, squeezes through cracks. Eventually though he makes a mistake and slips off a rooftop and falls with a crash into an alley.

Charity Evans, a human woman in her late 20s, is coming home from one of her EMT courses when she hears the crash. She enters the alley cautiously, wanting to check on the person who just fell, but wary enough to be ready to run if needed. "I'm a medic. Don't move. Can you speak at all?" she calls.

Mrs. Bloodplunder turns and sees the creature, though is currently on the wrong side of Ace to do anything about. "Move! I can deal with this!" Mrs. Bloodplunder doesn't mean to disrespect Ace's abilities, it's just that she doesn't know Ace's abilities, whilst also knowing her own abilities and being immensely confident in them.

Letting out a startled curse, Ace takes several quick steps backwards and away from this strange multi-limbed thing. As he scrambles away, he lashes out with his right hand with palm held flat. The seven cards floating around his head whiz through the air, suddenly gaining the properties of card-sized sheets of razors. He's too startled and there's too many cards for them to have much precision, but they're all aimed in the direction of the insectoid thing.

Mrs. Bloodplunder should have plenty of room to get to work now!

A few of the razor cards miss the creature, but most of them hit it... and bounce off, appearing to do absolutely no damage to it. It stops for a split second when it's hit, then continues rushing to Ace, intent on grabbing him. Mrs. Bloodplunder will probably get to it first, though.

There is a slight groan from the boy laying on the ground. He seems to be conscious but doesn't respond right away. Then ignoring her words he sits up rubbing his head.

"Huh, what?"

Charity kneels next to him. "I'm a medic. Please hold still and let me see how badly you're injured."

The knight blinks, what did Alfred just say? "Ah... would you mind repeating that Alfred? I didn't manage to make it out." Correl asks with an confused expression.

Please don't make him say it again. It took all his courage to say it the first time. "I..." he begins meekly, "I wanted to ask about... Her permission... about being your... squire?" he finally squeezes out.

Alfred's mother heard it that time, her eyes widening in the surprise. "His squire? Alfred, dear, I don't know about that."

"Medic? Oh, OK. I think I'm OK."

He blinks a few times staring straight ahead doing his best not to move. Chairty might notice the fairly large gash on his arm from somewhere along in the fall.

"Here, let's take a look at that arm," Charity says. "Talk to me. Tell me your name and what you were doing. Is anyone chasing you?" That last part is good information to know, but mostly she wants him talking so she can try and judge if he has a concussion or is at risk of going into shock.

She attempt to take hold of his arm and apply appropriate first aid. She has the supplies in her messenger bag of holding.

The voice is quiet and not all that articulate.

"Certainly. How many do you need? I should be able to procure a reasonable amount for you within a day or so..."

'S many as y'can, but... s'this gonna need payin'? Don' gots moneys, only gots nectars, an' guy said s'a-dik-tiff an' tha'means I shouldn' givvit to people...

"Calvin, my name is Calvin. No one is chasing me, I was just running."

He lets her take his arm to take care of the wound there. She may notice that there is a large bruise up on his shoulder, old enough where it isn't from the fall.

"I am pretty sure I'm not concussed by the way, didn't hit my head that hard. Thanks by the way."

Besides the bruise he has several visible scars, one under right eyebrow partially concealed, one on the side of the neck that points up to his ear. Two more are on his palms each identical a single line running across the palm, and large like he had been cut several times. Though those wounds are pretty hard to spot and Calvin does his best to keeps his palms out of sight though that might be hard with her bandaging up his arm.

"I'm Charity Evans. This really isn't a safe place for running around in," she says. "The vampire infestation from a year or so ago is mostly died down, but there are still plenty of monsters."

Calvin frowns a bit at the word monster. It might be hard to notice but it obviously struck some sort of nerve.

"Yeah, I know. I am usually better at taking care of myself then this though. You don't seem worried to be wandering around by yourself."

"I have an emergency teleport device in case of trouble." Charity says. "If I didn't, I definitely wouldn't be in this neighbourhood without an escort. Do you live around here?"

Calvin starts to get up to his feet.

"Oh, that is a handy device I guess. Like I said though, I can usually take care of myself. I am tougher then I look."

It is hard to look tough after having slipped and fallen from a rooftop.

"Mmm... I guess most people around here are," Charity says, with a sigh. She really hates the violence in the Nexus, but she's made a home here and can't just walk away. She'll get to her feet as well, watching to see if he's keeping his balance. She's pretty sure he's not concussed, but it doesn't hurt to be sure.

[McBish]

Calvin keeps his balance fine.

"Yeah I guess so. Listen thanks though, I hit a piece of metal on my way down. Probably would have turned nasty before I would have gotten it cleaned up."

Calvin doesn't hate violence, he got over that a long time ago. Charity probably would have noticed that he didn't seem to mind any pain from the fall or cut, beyond the first groan that is. Pretty stoic for a teenager.

"You're welcome. If it starts to feel hot or swollen in the next few days, you'll want to go to a clinic to get it looked at in case it's infected. Actually, you should probably come in anyway to get a tetanus shot. Rusty or dirty metal is the kind that is the worst for that."

Damn. I can't think of a hook for Charity to keep poking around and learning more about Calvin.

"Don't worry I will get it healed up eventually."

Calvin starts to turn then stops. He knows how the night will go if he wanders off now, at he doesn't like where it will go. So he takes a lesson from a well dressed orc and takes a chance.

"Have you ever smoked Hooka? Um, because there is a place I like to go not to far from here, want to join me?"

Charity laughs. "Now that sounds like fun. I haven't smoked in ages. I'll just have to text my boyfriend so he won't worry."

The last bit is thrown in just as a 'hey, just so you know, kid..' though she doesn't think he's trying to hit on her. But she does want to make sure. Some teenage boys can be pretty clueless and think 'I'm talking to you' means 'I want you take me now'.

"Good call wouldn't want him thinking you got attacked by a monster."

He grins a bit as he picks up the message crystal clear. Not that it was truely needed, he understands her wanting to warn him off.

"Yeah I like the place, it's not to far from here."

He will start to lead the way to The Original Hank's Hookas*, which is located in an old part of Inside that doesn't seem to get much traffic anymore.

*Not to be confused with Hank's Hooka of way back when.

Charity sends her text as they walk. "Are you a Nexus native? I've been here about 3 or 4 years I guess."

Mrs. Bloodplunder will charge forward, swinging her flail towards the insectoid creature's head. The flail begins to give off an indigo light as it is swung, but this is not the limit of its magic; it also hits far harder than it should, in addition to being lighter in Mrs. Bloodplunder's hand than it should be.

The Original Hank's Hookahs

"No, I only recently moved here with my uncle, almost a year ago now. It has been an interesting transition. But we are starting to settle in I guess."

He will open up the door to the hookah bar. Inside there are several shallow pits with couches or pillows inside and a hookah in the center. The lighting in each pit varies from bright to almost completely black. The rest of the room is dark except for red lights on the floor showing where to walk. Servers come in and out of a door in the back of the room with different sheesha and new charcoals for the customers. They are free to pick one of the many open pits, menus inside include a wide range of flavors, lots of berries and fruit, then some weird stuff like chocolate brownies or various types of meat. Bacon is listed as a staff favorite.

Why don't you come out of there? I could see about better accommodations at least. Maybe we'll come up with some solutions on the way/

"Oh wow... I've never seen any place like this." Charity says, wide-eyed. And then blinking because of the smoke. "I just used to do weed in college before I dropped out."

She's studying a lot harder now for her EMT qualification than she did then for her art major.

"Yeah I found it one day by accident. I have been coming back ever since when I sort of want to get away from stuff. I usually just read by myself though."

He motions to one of pits with couches that is fairly bright.
