The Stick Awards II: Second Edition (#0201 - #0210)
Welcome to The Stick Awards II: Second Edition!
The Stick Awards are handed out to the best strips of all time as chosen by our fellow Playgrounders.
This week we are covering the comic strips 201 through 210.
For full details about the Stick Awards, please check out the main thread here.
To read more about the original Stick Awards, created by Nazzo, the 102nd, please read his thread here.
To vote in this thread, simply state which comic of the ten listed is your favorite. Bolding the number of the comic (Like this) helps it stand out.
Voting for this week will close on November 11th, 4pm EST. Any votes made after that will NOT count toward the totals.
Last time, 200 - The Confrontation fought off a flurry of challengers to secure its spot in the Best of the Thousand tournament. And while there's a few more hoops for the current entrants to jump through before they can get that far, they all aspire to take the first necessary step.
How do they do that? By being the winner of.....

Re: The Stick Awards II: Second Edition (#0201 - #0210)
So many of them are brilliant...
but I can only vote for one so #203 gets it.There must be some sense of order - personal, political or dramatic - and if no one else is going to bring it to this world, I will.

Some nice strips you have collected there.
Despite imo starting kinda weak, Thor is just to great to pass up on 201 - Seeing Signs

Most of these draw pretty even in my book. I think I'm gonna have to go with 209: Multiclass Discrimination, but it's close.

Lots of good ones. 202 very nearly gets my vote, but I'm going to have to go with 209.

Re: The Stick Awards II: Second Edition (#0201 - #0210)
Ooh, No. 206 is tempting me, with a Green Bullseye Lantern ( "In Brightest Day! In darkest night" "I dunno, I kinda liked Kyle."), a paddlestick, roller skate, squirrel and grape jam.
But there can be only one choice:
202
"Stop oppressing my culture you ethnocentric bitch!"

Re: The Stick Awards II: Second Edition (#0201 - #0210)
I have to go with 207, "Ummm...it's scales weren't all shiny?" "Ah, Then its destruction was just and necessary."
The ridiculousness of that statement and its profundity is one of the most hilarious and poignant panels in the entire comic. The laws of physics are not crying in a corner, they are bawling in the forums.

Re: The Stick Awards II: Second Edition (#0201 - #0210)
Ooh, this comic is so hitting its stride right now.
Should I vote on drunk Thor?
or the first lead sheet gag?
Or Elan weakening the fabric of the universe?
Color coded dragons?
or Miko learning what Roy puts up with when he deals with Elan?
I think I'll have to go with Drunk Thor: 201 scraping by over the lead sheet.Last edited by littlebum2002; 2013-11-04 at 05:35 PM.

202 because of the fight against discrimination against halflings.

202; it not only was a hilarious gag, it became used at least half a dozen times throughout the whole story. Facesheet, revisits hundreds of strips later...202 wins the money.

Re: The Stick Awards II: Second Edition (#0201 - #0210)
Very strong batch, maybe the funniest since the beginning. There are some great last panels, such as:
201 - Drunk Thor
202 - the classic "stop oppressing my culture..."
203 - classic Elan - "The valley of Roy being really pissed..."
204 - "then you admit you want to bone her!"
206 - classic Elan 2.0 - "I'm on an adventure"
but I think my vote goes to the best dialogue of the bunch, 209
"Truly, this journey shall be the greatest challenge to my alignment yet"

I like #205's buildup and punchline the best, but #203 also has a good punchline and more jokes spread throughout, so
#203

Re: The Stick Awards II: Second Edition (#0201 - #0210)
There are so many good strips, in this round.
Anyway, i was almost going for 201 - Seeing signs (absolutely brilliant), but in my book, nothing can beat "Stop oppressing my culture!".
So, 202Do I contradict myself?

Re: The Stick Awards II: Second Edition (#0201 - #0210)
A lot of good jokes here, and it's all plot-relevant. It's a hard choice, but I'm going to vote for 202, solely for Belkar's quote.

Re: The Stick Awards II: Second Edition (#0201 - #0210)
This is a really strong set of strips; quite heavy on exposition, sure, but with some great character moments, the introduction of one of my favorite running gags, and uniformally solid punchlines. It is a toss-up between the two Belkar with lead sheet strips for me; both are great, but the timing in the final three panels of 208 tips the balance for me.
The prison was full of British officers who had sworn to die, rather than be captured.

Re: The Stick Awards II: Second Edition (#0201 - #0210)
There are a lot of great strips here, including poor, unloved #210 (which in my opinion is an underrated classic). But I think I will go for 202 as well.
And with that.....
VOTING IS NOW CLOSED!
202 - Scanning... is the winner this week! It now moves on to the Best of the Hundred tournament.
