My Little Pony XIV: Boots on Hooves / Bikinis on Top

I personally really like the Rarity/Spike pairing. Sometimes I worry Rarity is taking advantage of Spike's crush, but I don't feel like she's like that. I think it's more likely that he keeps insisting that he do things for her, and because she does care for him (although I don't think his feelings are reciprocated) she tries to tread that fine line.

Also, if she doesn't know about his crush (which seems unlikely) then it would be easier for her to not see herself as taking advantage of him at all.

I felt really bad for Spike in Owl's Well that Ends Well. Not when Owlicious took his job, or all of Twilight's attention, but when Rarity presented him with a bowtie exactly like the one she gave Spike.

I suspect Rarity just has a barrel of those things.

See, I'm torn. I can't imagine a Rarity/Spike relationship ever being one of equals, which is what I always like to see in romance. I want Spike to be happy, but I think he can do better for himself than Rarity.

(not that Rarity isn't high quality. It's more like if the tool for the job is a hammer, the most exquisite parachute in the world won't help you out much, if at all.)

a beat passes, then two, then three. On the cabin floor, Luna hiccups. For a moment, only the soft sound of rope fibers can be heard, as Shimmer swings leisurely back and forth.

SiuiS hands the teacup back to Midnight, and shifts his weight evenly onto both rear legs.

He immediately trips over the chair he was nigh straddling, before getting up with haste and setting the chair a-right. His gaze sweeps the room, very obviously telegraphing a 'no one saw that right?' demeanor.

Er, aye. Well, 'en it looks te be we may make it out o' here unscathed, after all. But we needs some help above, as th' extra weight o' all ye interlopers is keepin' us mired in the whirlpool. Nae te mention-

*KABOOM*

- I think we're bein' shot at.
We can loose these naval no-naughts if we can make it further inte th' Dream, but we're mired an' outmareneuvered. Ye c'n try th' guns, or th' sails-engines-thingies, or ye can do what e'er ye wish; but we're on barrah'd time as tis.

With nary another word (and careful to no trip over anything) SiuiS lopes to the stairs, and is up and out of the cabin in a wink.


SiuiS stands at the helm, watching as the commodore's ship closes the distance. Around him, the sails re-fold themselves into rams, pawing at the sky and snorting somehow.

FOALS! Void cupcakes? Torpiedoes? All these empty calories spiralin' into the dark... Do ye realize what ye've done?! What lies in wait, in these parts?

random particulate bits of crumbs and crust, void and matter drift o'er head, being pulled into the gravity well (severity, not planetary pull) and spiraling down to the depths of the nearest vortex.

Crawling around from the back of that self same vortex, unseen By anypony, black on black, barely noticeable through the fog and gloom, a small army of skeletal ponies begin to assemble, swimming through the dream folds like tadpoles.

Change o' plans, me buck-os. FABIONY! PONYARRRD! git e'ery pony te the weapons bay, an' load 'Em up! We are wi'out life boats, so takin' the main guns is th' only way safely off this boat. I fear the Neo Nemo is lost. The gravity here is th' only hint keepin' the Silly to a miniminiminimum. One way, or another, me ship is lost.

Hooves behind his back, SiuiS swivels his head to watch the Kommodore's ship approach.

We may be goin' fer the long swim wi' a short suck o' air first, but afore then I've got a s'prise, fer ye, Kurgan. And I know how much ye Partiers love s'prises.

Yeah, I kind of see your point. I also still feel like the whole different species thing is a big hurdle, but mostly (since this is fantasy) because of the differing maturation/lifespan thing. If Spike got over his crush, I'm sure Rarity wouldn't be offended, and he could find a nice dragon girl, and Rarity could find herself a nice stallion, and they could all be happy and happy for one another.

(Although I think dragons are more likely to mate occasionally than have actual life partners.)

I liked the interview as well. It gives me hope that the second season will be the best season yet, even without Lauren Faust. I say this because I have seen many a show have a slower start, while the writers are feeling their way around the characters and the fanbase, and then once they get comfortable, the quality improves rapidly.
