As for grunts, the main problem with them is who is going to roleplay them? If no player is willing to do it, then they shouldn't be introduced at all.

I have also noticed that we have a Cathy, a Kate, and a Kathrine, so I propose that we put the Alex rule into effect and refuse to accept any Katies, Cats, or Kitties.

If I remember things from Oblivion right, we could use the ranks that are in the Mage's Guild. I can' remember all of them but some of them are:

Also, Kathrine could possibly be considered a specialist because she's a dragonslayer who's way better at slaying dragons then she is fighting people.

Not a good idea, i think. putting formal titles to it is kinda in defiance of the non-formal nature of WATCH, even if we are trying to make it a bit more organized.

I disagree. I think rank names are fun. Though I'm not sure a bunch of different names for mages and wizards is going to be terribly applicable.

Maybe. There's a lot of diferent guilds in oblivion that we can draw name inspiration from. we should also probably come up with our own, if we're doing this, but it's not a bad thing to look for inspiration somewhere.

actually, the fighter's guild titles suit pretty well. most of them revolve around defending something.

Well after all it's just a test of beeing good. It could allways include fights and such, but beating one member wouldn't be good. Just think of someone choose Sakura in her crren status.. I don't think that's an good idea.

I don't think Watch members have to be good. They have a Nazi in their ranks, after all.

Master DC or Mistress KR I just can't see working out. Champion sounds kind of cheesy. Warder isn't bad. Defender, Sentinel, Protector, Guardian, Watchman... I kind of like sticking with the Watchtower theme and having all the names based around that idea.

System: Everyone new starts as peons and works their way up. Running around naked on unicorns or getting yourself arrested at another member's wedding hurts your progress.

Hey guys, a little note about the future for Remnant. From now on, I'd appreciate it if you PM'd me before sending a PC there to join up. The reason for this is that it's getting extremely boring and monotonous to RP the same scene over and over, even with different people. That said, Remnant also won't be actively recruiting any more, except for the rare case(which should be PM'd to me so if it's a No, it's just assumed to happen offscreen).

The big thing is, and I probably should have said this before, the more powerful the PC trying to join Remnant, the less likely they'll be willing to trust or hire them due to security issues and the increased likelihood of ulterior motives. But, to help people who are wanting to take part, here's a list of things I do and don't want.

Don't:

1: Scientists/Inventors/Artificers: Remnant is already riddled with them. Whether it's science or Magic, there's enough of them.

2: High Powered Arcane Casters: After TE's PC, which I do have a plan for, there's going to be only a very low chance of high powered mages of joining. Part of this is due to such people being extremely hard to control, but also has to deal with how I seem to have a decent sized influx of them recently.

3: Psionics. The reason for this one is mostly IC. Most of the higher up people in Remnant dislike them for what are likely obvious reasons, and would have a hard time accepting them into their ranks, even if Remnants are trained to resist such things to a degree. Security issues would be at unacceptable levels.

4: Gods and Godlings. Kinda obvious, and while it hasn't been an issue so far, I figure I may as well explain why. Remnant is a place for mostly mortal (or "mortal") people. It's kind of the theme. Also, Security would likely be a pain when trying to think of counters for them as well since most Gods/Godlings tend to vary quite a bit, and those in charge of security would have to compensate for each one.

That said, here's what I would be willing to let in provided the person checks out.

Do:
1: Squad Leaders and Investigators. It may seem like a minor thing, but I'd actually like to have a few more PCs to help lead squads into combat, and preform investigations into complaints and reports of violence and other such things. It'd help quite a bit. The person can be a low/mid power spellcaster, high-tech user, or low-tech user. It'd all be useful there. I can't be on all the time, and if a couple more people did this, then they'd be greatly appreciate it.

2: Administrative Personnel. It may seem like it's boring, but I could use a lot of these types. Anything from diplomats to Aides and Liaisons. A few investigative types could fit here as well.

3: Lone Wolves. Figure this should have it's own portion apart from the Squad Leaders/Investigators. There are some things that squads can't handle and there's a need for a bit more subtlety. I could probably use one or two of these. They'll be watched somewhat closer than most others due to the nature of the PCs.


As for Divine Casters, I'm neutral about those, as healers always tend to be nice. Those who can lead squads are even better. As long as the person isn't too powerful. They can even be the "preachy" type.

As a bit of extra advice and warning, those with external ties are likely going to be heavily scrutinized and watched closely for their length of time there. Clerics have commitments to their gods, Magtoks are Magtok, and other similar things need to be considered.

I hope this clears up a few things. If I'm missing anything, I'd appreciate you guys letting me know.

I posted this a while back, a couple months now, but it still applies. While I'm still restructuring the OP for Remnant(which will take a while), I still want people to PM me about wanting new PCs in Remnant. Especially brand new characters with no prior connections.

So, Recruitment is still closed technically.

Also, Murkus, the PC shouldn't be able to appear within 10ft of the gate, if I'm reading that right.

Anyways, to Wolfy: We discussed a character that I might be able to implement for Remnant before; an investigator type of guy, specifically a low powered divination specialist mage. are you still willing to go with that, or do you feel I shouldn't?

Also, Murkus; the dimensional lock goes to about 100 ft. outside the building. It's been there for everybody trying to warp in, like ever. My Diplomat guy? he had to be out that distance, as he opened his portal as close to Remnant as he could get. just add an extra zero to that 10 and it should be fine

The OP is still being written, Murkus. But in general, it's best to assume every place of significance is dimension locked unless told otherwise. It's the Nexus equivalent of having locks on your doors. Yes, that means both GLoG and HALO are irresponsible and unlocked.

Some of the people from the early GLoG days will remember how Kael's supervillain gang used to teleport in and out of the place like it was their own personal playground. We finally got fed up with it, IC and OOC and that's when dimension locking happened, though we left the Rose Garden unlocked so villains could still port in there and then break into the compound.
