I still suggest splitting (Which I assume can be done because we're an Ooze.) and attacking (sorta) from two sides, so we can eat it and gain firespitting abilities.

Or, we can try to... tackle, like Succubus said, and after it's roasted, we eat it.

Haha, when you said split on the last page. I thought you meant split as in running away. Not split as in.. literally splitting apart.

Anyways, taking the time to try and eat grass with your enemy right in front of you, in the vain hope of getting combat applicable powers from it? Really? Grass? Is that really the first move you guys want to make in our first actual fight? I mean, If that what you guys want. That's what it'll be.

Just seems silly is all. Silly in the bad sense.

A more logical suggestion would be to prepare ourselves to dodge in case it attacks, because, at the moment, we know almost nothing about its capabilities.
When we have more information, we can decide what to do.

You heard the lady. Unless this thing has major hayfever issues, munching grass is just going to provide a side salad to the main course of small tasty ooze.

I admit the charge thing is risky, unless we want to do it the other way round and try to get it to charge us....but then that fire thing looks like a ranged ability....

    Bleh.

The situation was significantly better before being completely surrounded.

My suggestion is to stay on the defensive and ready to dodge any incoming fire spitting, while desperately calling for the dirty fairy ("talking", or its equivalent antenning in this case is a free action ) and/or catching the attention of any creature who may tunnel a way out.

Well... I guess splitting would work in order to split, but then how would splitting help? We tried to split before, and now we are surrounded, so we can try to surround it by splitting.

Yes, I did try to fit "split" there as many times as I could.

Just throwing out there that votes are currently at 3 for eating the grass, 2 for tackling the whisp and two for dodging.

Also, random homid-ooze concept is random.

    Changing my vote.

VOTE: Dodge or evade the first attack from the wisp. If it had been capable of wiping us out in one attack I'm fairly sure it would have done so by now.

I'm cheating and adding my own vote to dodging, because seriously, grass?

On that note, new slightly lower quality comic - Dodge the next attack

    Spoiler
    Show

You've decided to play it safe and get ready to dodge your opponent's attacks for now.

    Dodge the whisp's next attack
It doesn't take long for the mossy creature to make it's next move. The whisp takes another deep breath and before you realize it, the area where you're standing is engulfed in flames. The ground below smolders, and the air crackles with heat.

    Part 2
It doesn't look like you made it..

    Part 3
Which just goes to show how masterfully you dodged that attack. You never knew you could be so nimble. You got a little scorched in the process, but you're standing to the side of the whisp. It hasn't noticed your new location, yet.

However, you're fairly angry now and have come to the conclusion that the whisp is a mean jerkface.

Agreeing with the "from below" idea. Bonus points if we also get the Jaws theme as well.

New comic - Attack from below. Less text, more images.

    Spoiler
    Show

You decide a stealthy attack from below is your best shot. You go down as low as you can and sneak around the whisp.

You approach your pray under the cover of darkness and pull it down to it's end.

You've devoured and absorbed the whisp. Your antennas sink back into you, losing you your ability to communicate with insects. In it's stead, you've grown a small tail with a floaty ball of pretty fire. You're still unsure of possible uses for it. You've also put on a few pounds.

The ring of fire surrounding the area has dissipated.
