Yes, well, that's why I've put mine on hold. Every time the meme's originators start running hard again, a whole whack of imitators spring up. Which is fun, but it crowds the front page and people stop voting.

Hopefully everyone will get a taste for it again soon.

One big problem I've noticed is that people seem to avoid general brainstorming threads in favour of going to the Vote Up threads - although I have seen a few people say that they aren't really too into homebrew and come to the forum mainly for the VUAx threads.

Anyway, yeah, I have noticed the kinda drop in the voting and I'm planning to hold off on my VUA Magic Item when I get the current one finished.

I'm more surprised than anything. It was actually quite an interesting idea.

A Base accepts protons (unipositive hydrogen ions), whereas an acid donates them (according to the Brønstead-Löwry theory).

Because water is amphoteric, and acid-base reactions form a dynamic chemical equilibrium (which will shift so as to oppose any change made to it), mixing an acid class with water will cause less of it to dissociate, and more of it to accept protons, forming H₃O⁺ ions.

Adding a base class to water, on the other hand, would result in fewer H₃O⁺ ions forming, as the water instead dissociates into OH^- ions and protons in order to replace the ones being removed. It will achieve an equilibrium with a much lower H₃O⁺ concentration than before.

The pH of a solution is calculated by taking the common (base 10) logarithm of the reciprocal concentration of the solution (thus, it increases as the hydrogen ion concentration drops) - DracoDei's concern is that the pH of this forum may be growing too high because everyone posts base classes. Groan now, please.

Bear in mind, however, that I only did A-level chemistry, so my understanding of this might not be spot on.

Yeah, I did the Vote up a Tavern. It should have been interesting, but a series of crazy votes turned it into not much of a tavern (seriously, a tavern in a dungeon in the sky? Run by Troglodytes?).

I have considered doing another, but can't find the original. I think the forum might have eaten it, or something.

Also, I can't get to the first Vote up a Campaign Setting discussion thread (the one you have listed as #2).

There are actually several others - a lot of them were abandoned, however. I wrote up a comprehensive list a while ago and sent it to afro.

Off the top of my head, of the ones that were completed you're missing the Don't Vote Up A Monster contests - the first major reaction to the VUAx meme.

On a more serious note, I would like to apologise for the lack of progress on Vote up a Dungeon (4e), which has been plagued with issues including more urgent issues in the real world and a bit of writer's block. I hope to get back to work on it soon, but I can't yet offer any timescale in which it will be finished.

I updated the VUAVUA Class so it links to the winner. Stupid of me not to have done that a lot earlier.

VUAVUA sequels are going to be held until the meta dies down long enough for it to become retro (probably indefinitely.) That and there's no reason to add to the list above unless you're more devoted to it than I am right now.

Hey, thegurullamen, I had an even meta-er idea a while back. Basically, it starts as a VUAVUA. Then, over a period of a few days, anyone who wants to try their hand at it submits an x, according to what we voted. Then, we vote on which are the best. And give awards. And then do it again. What do you think?

At this time, there are seven active VUAs on the first page, and two related threads. That's 18% of the front page's capacity.

This seems to have ballooned out of proportion. I'm going to hold off on VUAV X until the air clears a bit.
