He means that the series that caused all this pony craze is the new one, not the old one, and so people's avatars are inevitably going to be in the new one's artstyle, so a banner in the old style is likely to be misleading.

I'm not a big fan of pony either, so I'm in for the Anti-Pony Avatars

*A Griffon
*An (accurate) cockatrice
*A hydra
*A Pony-wrangler
*A large, evil-looking horse

These are the option introbulus gave me and I go for the Hydra thing. You know eating 5 Ponys the same time^^.
