Re: LGBTAitp - Part Fifteen
I'm sorry if I didn't make it clear, I'm looking for a GitP-specific banner. Thanks though!
I'm using it to mean queer. Also, at least in my experience, if there's only one "Q", it's generally used to mean queer. Though I could, of course, be mistaken. My preferred pronouns: they, them, their

Re: LGBTAitp - Part Fifteen
I think sexual minorities kind of works. "Sexual" doesn't mean "that has to do with sexual orientation" after all. Gender issues are usually an issue when put side by side with sex (you're trans only because your sex doesn't match your gender, so it's related to your sex). But I guess it could be "sex and gender minorities" or something.

Re: LGBTAitp - Part Fifteen
I'm bashing my head against a deadline, therefore I can't make a proper version of it, but I quickly hacked my LGBTAitP banner to change the A to a Q.
You have to cut the one you want from the image, and probably resize it too. Sorry.

Re: LGBTAitp - Part Fifteen
But how can you be trans with it having nothing to do with your sex? If you're a transwoman, operated or not, transitioned or not, you're trans because your sex is male. Otherwise you would be a woman, but not a trans one. Right? Am I missing something? I mean if sex isn't taken into account, nobody's trans.

Re: LGBTAitp - Part Fifteen
Shiny, thanks a lot!
And I've generally heard it called gender and sexual minorities (GSM), so as to reinforce the idea that gender=/=sexual orientation, as well as to make LGBTQ more friendly to kink and poly folks. /2 copper
EDIT @V: I'm genderqueer and do not consider myself to be transgender.Last edited by cycoris; 2011-07-24 at 04:05 PM.

Re: LGBTAitp - Part Fifteen
I feel I have to say... Hawflight's avatar inspired me to seek out what it was about. And I found out what it was. A movie called Arashi No Yoru Ni. And then I found out the name in English is One Stormy Night. And THEN it turns out that some fans got permission to dub it in English and put it up on YouTube. And I watched it. I must say... it's rather beautiful. I loved it.

Re: LGBTAitp - Part Fifteen
Seriously? So you're transgender if you don't fit gender stereotypes? Doesn't that make most of the people transgender then?
It seems weird. To me there is cisgender, transgender and genderqueer, just like there is, say, straight, gay and bi. So it sounds like you're saying "oh, no, bi counts as gay" or something. Is that a recognised definition, people? And genderqueer people really trans? I mean that makes me trans and I totally don't feel comfortable with that label at all. My only struggle is people telling me I should shave my legs, I don't feel it has much to do with what a trans person goes through.
Anyways, I added the gender thing especially because of gender things, but I didn't think of it as part of the trans community.
EDIT: my last sentence is probably confusing lol. What I meant is, I added "gender" to "sexual minorities" especially because being agender, neutrois, etc, has nothing to do with sex, unlike other gender issues.Last edited by Lissou; 2011-07-24 at 10:47 PM.

Re: LGBTAitp - Part Fifteen
What book is this?
EDIT: it isn't the same one that says having an intersex condition means you're "trans," is it?
I've never really looked at it as one being a part of the other, I've always seen them as two separate things. One can be one, the other, both, or neither.

Re: LGBTAitp - Part Fifteen
About whether IS is trans... It seems to me the only way the be cis IS is to be agender, bigender or genderqueer. I mean if your sex is neither male nor female (because it's either, both, or whatever), and you gender is one or the other, then you have an established gender that doesn't match your birth sex and might want to use hormones or surgery to get your sex to match your gender. Isn't that what trans is?
On the other hand if you only take it as being born the opposite sex, then true, it doesn't apply.
In short, I can understand it being fuzzy. I don't see why IS people would be immune to gender disphoria though.

Re: LGBTAitp - Part Fifteen
My view: Intersexed people are of intersex sex, and may exhibit tertiary personality traits more commonly found in either sex. Scientifically speaking, it would be interesting to observe which of such traits they tend to lean towards. That's it.
