    Default Wanda Firebaugh

...How long did it take you to realize this was a pun?

I am rather embarrassed to admit that I only just now got it while on my way to the bathroom a few minutes ago. And I've been reading since before the first Parson's Klog...

On a scale from one to ten, how obvious was it to you?

    It's a stretch.

I see "Fire Bough" every time I see her last name though. So the association with boughs and wands is pretty obvious. Fire is associated with magicians.

Basically, it's a vaguely mystical sounding name. I hesitate to read into her name's significance any further than that.

Maybe, but I've interpreted it as a ray of DEATH. But Fire works too.

    Just today? Wow.

...O' course, I had it spoilered to me while browsing places like TV Tropes and Erfworld wiki...

Who wants to bet Wanda's recruiting cost was something like 22500 Schmuckers?

This is how the second part is pronounced. Accents don't really enter into it.

Really? Because so much in Erfworld is exactly this kind of pun. With names like the Barbarian named "jillions of muscles" and the prince named "handsome", I think it's not a stretch at all to have the mage named "wand of fireball".

I alway though ball was pronounced, well, BALL, with the ls at the end.
    Well thanks.

I could be wrong here, since I don't have my source books at hand, but I think he's talking about the list price for a Wand of Fireballs from the 3.5e DMG.

It does match the price for a 10th level Wand of Fireball. I can only assume that's what he means.

I caught on to them all except Jillian and Wanda's.

    - Pronounced Zamussels "Zah-MOOS-ells." The closest I could get was "lots of moose."
    - The lack of 'Ls' at the end of Firebaugh meant that it didn't sound at all like fireball to me.

    Heehee, clever!

Huh. I always pronounced "Bough" like "Bow," as in the piece of archery equipment. The two words have a similar origin.

Except that it's spelled with an "a", -baugh, not -bough.
