That's what deegansnark does. Words get ruined. 'Save' the last 'dance,' indeed.

Re: Dominic Deegan: Oracle for Hire, MK XVIII - At the Mountains of Madness
Man, Mookie loves having a character call Dominic out on being a jerk, and then Dominic responding by, well, being a jerk
Political Sidenote: Putting something in your Internet Sig is equivalent to putting a bumper sticker on your car.
TV Tropes Sidenote: I just stay away from the examples on any of the Subjective Tropes pages - though I freely cite the Tropes proper. Although not any of the Crowning Moments pages - that's needless fanboyism.
Anyhoo, Mookie still can't write dialogue or a believable plot, and the Arc is still going on. So, nothing new to say

And lo, we bury Thuen Gor's outrage toward Dominic in an unmarked grave beside Stunt's dignity and Jacob's villain cred pants.
It will be missed.

From the Ghosts of Guest Strips Past: Link
I can't tell if that's Luna or Donovan - and frankly, I'm not sure which is more disturbing. I didn't remember this strip from my archive trawl, I must've repressed it.
Hopefully I'll be able to do so again...

Actually i found that guest strip pretty funny. It's a reminder of better times, sadly. Times where actual effort went into the whole thing.

Re: Dominic Deegan: Oracle for Hire, MK XVIII - At the Mountains of Madness
I dunno - the resemblance (panel 8) is uncanny. I guess my issue is less the writing, more Mookie's inability to distinguish between characters.
Also, it seems almost Out of Character. I mean, this is exactly what you'd expect from BM, except that if it were a Clevinger strip, the universe itself would contrive some way of making him suffer - like instead of Fighter, we have WM holding a hammer rapidly descending upon BM's skull. Also, I wanna say Fighter is OOC, but that just might be the Flanderization talking.

Really, Mookie, think about that for a second.

You know what I hate about Szark? He's a psychopath who for years had to kill people to get it up. That's a pretty serious perversion, right there. And anyone who holds this against him his homophobic.
What the hell?
I am fine with gays. I have friends who are gays. But I am not fine with the idea of someone so hedonistic they get of on murder.
But, according to Mookie, making this plain is not allowed if the person is also gay. He is so perverted, the fact that he likes other men should be incidental. He kills for fun. For no reason, other then he enjoys it in a sexual way. But he's gay, so it's OK.
Double standard much?

So, that's actually pretty likely, isn't it?
Anyway, I actually liked this strip (well, more than most others, so I dunno how much it counts for). My only real problem with it besides Dominic being an idiot in the third panel is that Outrage Chief is carrying his mortally wounded son. Is that really a good idea? Shouldn't he have, like, a litter or something? OC can't carry him forever, and it's gotta be pretty painful being jostled around like that . . .

Hmm? Oh yeah, Mookie has done some great guest strips. I mean, look at the effort he put into BM's outfit - actual shading!
If we're picking character designs, White Mage looks a lot like Pam, while Fighter reminds me of Early Bumper.

Well, I was reminded of Chuck and Jayden. At least I think they had those hair cuts early on.
Black Mage clearly is the scorched merman that pulled a prank on Luna.

Well, Greg said he still found Szark creepy while also acknowledging that being corrupted by a demon lord is a pretty good excuse. That was actually a lot more realistic than how...other cases were treated by the characters.
What I always found disturbing was that Szark was bisexual when he filled his days with ****ing around and killing people and only realized he's gay after the demonic influence was gone. I mean, maybe that was intended to be about him coming to terms with his own self, but the whole depraved hedonistic bisexual thing is a stereotype I'd rather avoid either way, yet Mookie walked right into it. And Celesto doesn't help here, either.
On a completely different note, what do you all think are the odds that Dominic is actually helping the Crone RUIN EVERYTHING! by telling Outrage Chief to let his son die and whatever he'll do next?
I mean, it would be inconsistent with the usual seer power of sensing any demonic presence, and it would require the main Sue to be duped, but I somehow expect a twist.
Of course, I also think that I should know better, seeing how this arc is an endless string of anticlimaxes connected by random crap and exposition.

Well, he is keeping his son alive with the Nakta, that requires some degree of physical contact.

Highly unlikely. I think we're in the final stretch. Dominic's working his way down the checklist of hanging plot hooks as fast as possible in an effort to wrap this thing up before the New Year.
Because of this, I'm betting that the Big Bikta Battle is going to be extremely underwhelming. There's not enough time to do a big fight against the Bikta and Neilen, not if all the other plot elements need to be brushed upon as well. Admittedly it does seem that he story is geared up for a big Dragonball Z style fight, with multiple parties closing in to get clobbered by the Big Bad until the designated Goku/Gohan steps up to finish him off. But I suspect it's going to be a week of talking heads before someone (Outrage Chief? Stonewater?) just punches the Spirit Father's head clean off.

I've gotta say I agree with Mookie on the outcome of Maine's vote, but saying any more would be transgressing on forum rules.

True. I bet we'll see the worst pacing yet as Mookie rushes to finish before his holiday break and then suddenly slows down as he realizes he's going to finish too soon, then speeding up, slowing down . . . it's going to be great.
Also, as a side note, I named the main villain in the story I'm writing (for NaNoWriMo) Dominik. I'm still not entirely sure what to do with him though.

Hey, I was just explaining why other people might do it.
Me? I try to leave my social-political commentary (including bumper-sticker stuff ) to other boards.* I find that if I go down that road on this board I might get in trouble by speaking my mind.
* Emphasis on the word "try". Every so often there is a thread over in the OotS section of the board that is just begging for people to devote 'attention' to it.

But he already HAS altered his work to preach his chosen morals. Can you change the moral and retain the preachiness? Goodkind stuck to his hand-picked ranting guns most firmly indeed - switching streams midnutso would be a sign of COLLECTIVISIM or something. Maybe it'd work for Mookie, since his chosen morals are more bendy and squishy...but then again, he certainly doesn't show a lot of give in them, does he?

The tragedy of the act of Outrage Chief having to let his son die is slightly diminished by the knowledge that the aftermath will involve Jacob and Adrak standing in the Nakta awkwardly trying to avoid eye contact.

Update.
I don't know what the hell is going on with Outrage Chief's head in the last panel.
Still, somewhat sad. I can feel some sympathy for Outrage Chief, as he's now lost both of his sons.

Yeah, and its proberly not making it any more fun to have 1 of them die in your arms.
Still, i suspect he will get though this alive in the end, if nothing else then because i dont think its time for Jacob to die, and i suspect he made a deal with Dominic to pick his soul up on the way out.
