I'm pretty confident Soldier-wise -- he IS my second-played class. I have a theory that I might be able to do better than some at noticing Scouts attacking my teammates to the rear, just because I've always been able to hear Lurker decloaking from thirty feet away.
The ping on that server for me is 100, which isn't great, but isn't horrible, either. Perhaps that's one of the reasons I prefer Scout -- lag will never affect my attacks directly, much less my primary one. I'll be practicing some Soldier today on Chocolate Hammer to try and get more used to it.
As a final note, there's talk of me having to leave the house BY 9:00 EST, making me miss the game entirely. However, and I quote, "Every effort is going to be made" to make sure I don't have to. So we'll see, but if Dispozition is OK to cover me from the beginning (you'd want to spectate anyway, right? ) that wouldn't hurt.

I'm not excellent, but I can occasionally do some good things. I don't have the nuances of him down though, such as knowing when to switch weapons or being able to rocket jump or air shot v.v
If I/Dispozition go Medic, who's going to be our Soldier replacement? What if we had that guy only switch to Soldier when I leave -- then I can be Soldier, that guy can be, uh, whatever-he-is for at least part of the game, and Dizposition can still be Medic?
Now, of course, if the replacement Soldier guy would rather be a Soldier in the first place, that's different. In that case, I'd definitely opt to go Medic.

Either way, I think I'd be more useful as medic since I can counter the lag spikes, and I know how to play it well against other good people. Soldier I'd be like a noob, only getting lag kills, methinks. But I can play either way...I just need to download TF2 by then :P
If I'm sick enough, I can play soldier. Because illness means no work in that time slot
Ok, if not, then here's the basic soldier guides I can find, and some basic advice. Pway a weal cwass, pro soldier video guide. Ubercharged comp solly guide Tf2 wiki article
Random, general tips:
Keep track of your opponent's health. You should have an idea of how much health he's got just by how you hit him. A splashed rocket does ~50 damage, a direct about 100 (half these at long range). If your opponent should be almost dead, swap to shotgun, as it's easier to hit with the hitscan weapons.
Rocket jumping is easy, aim down, jumpfirecrouch all at once. There are some more nuances, like airstrafing (hold a or d, then turn the mouse in the same direction to curve your jump), long jumps (aim shallow, away from the direction you're going), and controlling how high you go (unsync some elements, or don't crouch).
Always take high ground. If you can rocket jump, get height. Shooting down at targets is easier, much easier.
Aim for the feet, enemies knocked into the air are predictable and almost helpless. Switch to shotgun if down to 1 rocket, or none, in a fight. I sometimes swap at 1 rocket, so I have a reserve if I need it (to juggle a pyro, finish off a scout, or whatever).

Yes. It's quite easy, actually.
1) Make him under the 3.5 rules.
2) Have him create and then use an 'edition shift' power, where he transports himself from one version of the rules to another of his choice. With all powers intact, any queries of how new stuff interacts determined by him, of course.
3) ???
Scout/Utility: Scorpionica
Scout/Utility: Shepherd Book
Soldier: Linker [until 9:45] -> Darth Mario
Soldier: Valaqil
Demoman: drolckal
Medic: Darth Mario [until 9:45] -> Dispozition
Team Ramrod (Captain: Djinn)-
Scout/Utility: Lord Darth Paul
Scout/Utility: Nano
Soldier: Faulty
Soldier: Beanie the Grim
Demoman: Djinn in Tonic
Medic: Jeremy
Maps:
Gravelpit
Badlands
Granary
Special Rules:
-No Sandman
Sort out various stuff before the game here, i.e. which Soldier will be pocket, what utilities the Scouts are best at, etc. Seeing as Linker has to leave at 9:45, let's try to get started as fast as possible.
drolkcal and Djinn seem like good people to be responsible for setting teams to ready and for naming them.
When the game starts, the server will be passworded. The password is gitp. The the password is on, you may join, but only join spectator if you're not one of the 13 people playing, and don't give out privileged information in game.
May I suggest replacing granary with gravelpit?
Hey Beanie, do you prefer pocket or roaming Soldier?
Replacing Well with Gravelpit has my vote, since Well isn't suited for standard 6v6 as much (in my opinion).
I do have a microphone, just shy to use it properly. This should improve.
Our team name needs to be E-G-A-A#. Or EGAA#.
As an utility Scout, I can switch to Heavy reliably, if needed. Last ditch efforts and whatnot.
Everything else seems to be in order from what I can see, can't play for more than three hours, but that shouldn't be a problem in any realistic way. Thanks to everyone for organizing this so far, this should be hella' fun.
Will members of my team be available before 9:00? I would like a meeting to sort out some stuff, (who will pocket etc), and discuss some general and specific map strategy for the team.
edit: I don't mind if the other teams joins in, I wanted to make sure people knew map location names and tips on other various stuff they should probably be doing during the match (that you don't in pubs)
As for ultilities, I can churn out a halfway decent Pyro, and can block with a speedbump Heavy when needed. Just say the word.
I do own a mic, I just can't use it. Prime Time TV is somewhat of a ritual around here, and 9 is right in the middle of it; it'd annoy a hell of a lot of people on both sides.
That's good, because I prefer roaming anyway, I think. I get nervous when I have a pocket Medic. "Oh, god, that was stupid. What have I done? He saw that. I know he saw that because he's ALWAYS THERE. Oh god, Demoman. C'mon, kill him kill him kill him crap crap crap crit sticky AGAGH WE'RE BOTH DEAD! Oh god he must hate me now. He'll never Medic for me again. I'm a terrible person, I'm a terrible terrible person I'm going Scout."
Oh, by the way, since I'll be the medic, note that I'm notorious on a few servers for either a) being badass with teh Ubersaw, or b) not healing anyone. I'll make sure to play an obnoxiously defensive medic since this is a 6v6, but just take note, i will make attempts to use my saw.

Well, I learned my lesson. Don't check GiTP at work if Linker is posting. That was hilarious.
Dispozition: So long as you keep people alive, I think that using your saw would be fine. I know I do.
