Re: PTA: Dusk Island (IC)
Scowling at the attack on his companion, Blake thinks, One more time, Celeste! The Umbreon responds by circling around and rushing its opponent once again. Blake then pulls out a Pokeball and flings it at the creature in hopes of capturing it.

Re: PTA: Dusk Island (IC)
Collin:
Maia's attack just bounces of the Rhyhorn and in return he stomps on her again. Once again he hits, this time dealing 10 damage to the battered Geodude.
Blake:
Celeste's attack works and the pig-monkey takes another solid hit. It seems to be struggling to keep it's feet, the perfect time for a pokeball. Unfortunately, your throw went wide and lands in a pile of leaves 10m away, unbroken. Without paying you any mind, the pokemon drops to all fours and swings a leg around your Umbreon's legs, taking her out with 32 damage. You feel your connection fizzle and fade out as Celeste faints.

Re: PTA: Dusk Island (IC)
Chuck:
You walk away from the gym in a generally western direction, weaving through hotels and diners via an extensive maze of sidewalks and pathways. After nearly half an hour of spotting only Rattata that keep darting away, you smell something that puts your nerves on end: Smoke. Firemane senses your apprehension and together you race after the scent, soon arriving at cafe with smoke pouring out the open door.
A man runs through the door, choking on the dark clouds. He looks at you and almost cries in relief, "Please! I can't go back in there, you have to save them!" Judging from his uniform you deduce that he's the waiter of this establishment. "They're in the kitchen. I can't open the door, the handle's too hot!"
OOC:SpoilerIf you enter, I need you to roll a Strength check (just a 1d20) to open the kitchen door.

Maia is battered but not beaten.
"Keep wearing it down some more!"
She contines the grinding contest to see who's the toughest rock.

Collin:
Maia once again throws herself at the Rhyhorn and her weariness begins to show in how she misses completely. He gets his feet under him and shakily rears up for another stomp, but misses again. Can Maia finish this grueling duel between rocks?

Re: PTA: Dusk Island (IC)
Collin:
Maia strikes again, a final time. The Rhyhorn takes the hit solidly across it's jaw and it seems to stand, stunned, for a second before falling unconscious. "Well damn. I can't believe that just happened," the trainer says staring at Maia. "A deal's a deal. Here's ^300 for both fights." He recalls his battered beast and says in a conversational tone, "Wanna do one more?"
Maia gains 360 XP.

Re: PTA: Dusk Island (IC)
Maia rests on the ground, not far from exhaustion herself.
"Good job, Maia. You've earned yourself a nice rest on that one."
Excited by the prospect of another battle, he says "Sure thing. How about double or nothing? 400?"
Assuming that's acceptable, Collin will bring out...
Ganga!
"Alright, lady Ganga, you ready for this?"Much thanks to Ceika for the poketar!

Re: PTA: Dusk Island (IC)
Collin:
"I can do ^400 more," the trainer says. He goes back to the far end of your little battle zone and releases his pokemon as you release Ganga. A small, blue dog that walks on it's hind legs appears from the ball. Ganga is faster.

Re: PTA: Dusk Island (IC)
biter seems momentarily disappointed at the sudden disappearance of the sneasel but then just shrugs starts eating the unfinished rattata.
dave picks up the ball and sends a text to Fredjust caught a sneasel. I look forward to helping out in the pokeball workshop. I'll be finding my own lodging for the time being for obvious reasons.
P.S. I heard these things can have a bit of an attitude do you have any advice for when I let it out for the first time?

Collin will begin scanning.
"Hm... Ganga hang back for now. Don't want to get too close. I don't trust the looks of this thing. This trainer has some top-notch 'mons."

Collin:
The blue dog seems to laugh at Ganga as it moves only a few feet ahead (now 8m away =P).
Dave:
It takes you a while, but eventually you find yourself back on that dimly lit street that houses the Gym, Trainer school, Arena, and Lab. You take a deep breath and open the door only to come face to face with Ben. A much calmer Ben, but still Ben. The guy that knocked you out with a thought during a fit of rage. "Hey," he says.

"Yeah, I'm sorry too," Ben says sheepishly. "I've been warned about my temper. More than once. That's why everyone's so earnest to keep it hush-hush, Joan isn't having a good day since the Arena and I'd likely get kicked out." He offers his hand, "Truce? Fresh start?"

Glaring at the pig-thing, Blake recalls Celeste and says, "I gave you a chance. Varen, go! Astonish!" The ghost appears in front of the fighting-type, dashing into it with an unexpected burst of speed.

The ground under its feet suddenly bursts forth full of crocodilde! There is rage in the little reptile as it claws at the blue dog.

Re: PTA: Dusk Island (IC)
Blake:
Varen crashes into the Mankey, as your dex informs you, but just flies right through. The angry pokemon seems to understand what this means and instead turns his sights on you. With a flying leap he brings his hand down in an arc, scratching you deeply for 23 damage. (Mankey has Int 4, realized he'd rather hit you.)
Collin:
A moment before she comes out of the ground, Ganga gets hit on the snout with an impossibly quick punch by the small blue dog. She takes 21 damage before she hits her opponent.
Dave:
Ben looks up for a moment, seeming to stare at nothing in particular, before he responds, "Yup, in the training room. Just head into the Battle room here and the door to your right is the one." He smiles as an idea seems to form, "You know what, here's a map." In your own mind a floor layout for the gym seems to form.
SpoilerEvery Gym Trainer has access to this map, think of it as your tour.
As you enter the Training room Fred waves you down. "So, you caught a Sneasel, eh? Well you can release him here. Let's see the guy."

Re: PTA: Dusk Island (IC)
"ok here goes nothing"
Dave releases the sneasel who after a moment of disorientation looks down at its hand to resume its meal. Finding the rattata is gone it looks around the room in anger and confusion before settling its gaze on Biter who still has rattata on its face. Biter attempts to make the closest sound a skorupi can make to whistling innocently.
