There's two beds, and heavy breathing can be heard from under one of them. It seems that the monkeys were after something else in the chest.

One of the beds has a small child hiding underneath it, hugging a plushy squid tight to his chest. He looks to be half elf and half orc, and he's crying slightly.

Cassidy sighs in relief when she sees the child and puts an incredibly rare smile on her face. "Hey. It's safe now, those things are gone. Why don't you come out of there?"

"OK. If you insist." The child will clamber out from under the bed, holding his cuddly squid tight.

Cass makes sure to hide most of her weapons, as she doesn't want to appear too intimidating. "Right, I'm here to get you to a safer place. What's your name, kid?"

As might be supposed, Michalson doesn't find her along the river, though he might cross the path of Gordon who is walking away from the river.


As Winston heads towards the Riftline, he'll see and hear one of the trains going by. Since there are no settlements in the woods, there aren't any stops here, so it just speeds through without stopping. It's possible she leapt aboard a speeding train - people do crazy stuff like that in the Nexus - but without superpowers of some sort it'd be a fairly deadly stunt to try.

The child roars in Orcish for a minute, before returning to Common. "But Daddy calls me his little Thistle." He was named by his mother, despite living with his father. Although I suppose an orc settlement isn't the best place for an orc/elf hybrid child; they're more fragile than true orcs. But can't stay in an elf settlement; they're stronger and more robust than their peers. And mature faster.

Cass looks a little perplexed by the Orcish. It sounded a little like Or'zet from her home world, but not enough for her to make heads or tails of it. "Alright Thistle, let's go see your dad. I'm sure he'd like to know you're safe."

"They defenestrated him, but I didn't hear a splat. He's always telling me that people go splat when defenestrated, but he never let me try." Orcs are renowned for their violent culture, and elves tend to be cold by human standards. Seems the combination in a hybrid is... Slightly sociopathic.

Winston will go along the line, looking for any indications of a hideaway or that someone was crazy enough to climb the thing. A rope or left over suction cups maybe. He's not sure at this point. Still, might as well keep looking.

No, they aren't out and about. They've gone to bed, apart from a few on rickety-looking towers keeping a look out for attackers and each equipped with a large bronze gong, a bow and stone-tipped arrows, a bronze sword and armour made from leather, small bronze plates with a bronze helmet.

Good. She's tired of sticking him back together time after time. With weird nature-magic that works in odd ways and tends to leave the flesh susceptible to morphing randomly. It's not a good method of healing.

But the kiss is quick. She has one last thing to ask of him. "Wait, first, will you sing for me Elkie, like you did when we first met? I haven't heard you sing for so long, and I was kinda worried I'd never hear it again. Pleeease?" She gives him the doe eyes. She could morph the actual eyes of an actual doe, but that'd be creepy, so instead it's the whole wide-eye, eyelash-batting look.

Aw, but I don't have my lute! Can I at least get it?

Derek looses himself in the kiss, it has been a long time since he has been this close to anyone. And one the anyone is as pretty as Jezebelle he surely missed it. He will wrap one arm around her waist trying to pull her closer still.

Jezebelle is pulled closer, continuing the kiss for a moment longer. And then she gently but firmly pushes against him, pulling up for air. Wow! she breathes heavily. She closes her eyes, taking in the experience, keeping her arm stiff to try to hold him back. We need to slow down.

Oh no. Vincent messed up on that pattern last time. Not this time! He expertly catches all three, though admittedly the last one he was extremely close to missing.

It's the last ten seconds! Catoline rips out four more, leaving only one veggie patch untouched.

The first one (heading to the left) is a blackened onion, the second (heading down the right) is a friendly looking onion, the third (following right behind the second) is another blackened carrot, and the last (heading back to the left) is another glittering special veggie (this one shaped like a carrot).

One does indeed wield a crazy magic weapon, but it's a sickle, not a scythe, a bronze sickle that feeds upon blood to boost it's wielder's speed. Quite useful. Would be more useful if more of the creatures here actually had blood to feed upon and One didn't have to cut himself up to fuel it's effects more often than not.

But yes, crazy magic sickle. A crazy magic sickle that allows him to easily dodge the spear jabbed his way, sidestepping towards the hoplite's non-shielded-side and aiming a trio of quick slashes at where a normal creature would have lungs, stomach and jugulars.

Alpha quickly draws his shield again, using it to block the spear aimed towards him before retaliating with two diagonal axe-blows aimed to carve an X across the offending hoplite's center of mass.

First's luck seems to have finally run out, for although he dodges the first attack aimed his way, the second hoplite oozing up from behind catches him unawares and he's stabbed in the back, gritting his teeth in pain as he scrambles to retreat out from between the two blobs.

The score board appears on the screen. For every Good Veggie caught, they get 1 point. For every Bad Veggie caught, they get a -2. For a grand total of 10 points out of a possible 18.

They get a Potion of Healing for their efforts.

And then the first special veggie appears on the screen. It smiles and Jingles, then explodes into a dazzling light show. They've won a..... Coin Pouch!

The more gold you keep in your coin pouch, the more damage your attacks do.

Then the second glittering special veggie appears on the screen. It dances and spins, then explodes much like the first. They've won a..... Golden Hat for him, and Golden Earrings for her.

Never be seperated again. By wearing these items, if you get seperated, just think of the other person and you'll be there. Only works if both characters are wearing the items.

Vierzt swats at the owl, and it bites him on the finger. ****! He wipes the blood on his bare chest and shrugs. Might be helpful.

"You got it then! When do we gotta do this?" Gelley asks, deciding to ask about mindflayers and such at a later time. More important matters at hand!

When Vierzt is bitten, meanwhile, Divebomb wags a scolding finger at the owl. "Hey, be nice. For me."

"Ouf!" The hobo-person exclaims as she get hit in the chest. The vampires advice appears to fall in deaf ears however as she peers suspiciously at her. "You should be nice to me! I'm not any hobo! I'm a magical one!"

"I'm not exactly mundane myself," the shapeshifter points out, forming an eye in the palm of each of her hands to prove her point. "Besides, that was nice. I could have thrown it hard enough to shatter your ribs, if I'd chosen to. Instead, I tossed it hard enough to sting for a bit and gave you some advice on how to get more people to give you things."

For the most part, the town of Mornvale is quite peaceful. The occasional bit of Nexus weirdness, of course, or bandits preying on the traders, but the militia, the priests, or the mages (though there weren't very many of those, admittedly) could handle most of what they were likely to see.

Now, however, a full-scale attack was about to be launched. The plans were being gone over a final time, the last scouts were reporting back, and those of the force who required weapons and armor were gearing up for the assault, and, save for the vampires, who had to wait for the short time until the sun set, those who were ready were getting into position.

Skyship- Above a Village

There isn't a lock- it's a communal bedchamber, and if the people inside have to unlock the door to deal with an emergency or evacuate, then the lock will be a great hindrance. The torch does not resist being taken from the wall, and even starts to glow brighter as it is gripped. This, however, is because it is powering itself from M'Kota- whilst she's holding it, she'll age faster, but only approximately one extra second per minute.

M'Kota doesn't intend to hold it for too long. Can she feel the effect, or is it passive? Also, how hot is the flame itself?

If it is hot, she intends on throwing it into the crowd of zombies, hopefully setting a few alight.

The hafling nods, but her eyes seem to almost glow in the presence of the demons who the pair still haven't seen yet.

Despite the wait though, the demonic energy isn't subsiding, if anything it's growing stronger for every moment as they wait along with an deep ominous sound. Then the voices can be heard again. "Feels ready to me." A pause. "It feels ready to me!"

"What? Sorry, I can barely hear anything with the portal here!"

"I said it feels ready. We should start to summon more forces here any moment from now." Now that sounded ominous...

"...****." Well, screw this plan. Darrel has no desire to remain hiding here with hordes of demons on the beach right outside. They're highly likely to get spotted just hiding at that point, and even if the demons don't bother checking around then there's still the issue of being stuck inside a robot's head with no supply of food or water, and an army to deal with right outside.

No no, best to deal with this now.

Darrel's remaining clothes get thrown on with remarkable haste. "Stay here. Keep quiet."

And then Darrel jumps out. Screaming. "ALRIGHT YOU ********! WHO WANTS SOME?"

It might seem a bit foolish to do that. But Darrel has no idea how they're operating the portal. If distracting them and making them lose concentration closes the portal, it's worth losing the element of surprise.

If not? Well, nothing ventured, nothing gained.

Fugitive! Near the Riftline

Once Winston reaches the Riftline, he'll find the travel much smoother. An effort was made to disrupt the forest as little as possible during construction, but it still required trees to come down and ground foliage to be cleared. In some places the rail runs along the ground, and in others, where the ground dips, it is supported by pylons. Of course the area under the rail at these places make nice potential hideouts.

Or ambush spots.

Or places to plant explosives to try and derail a train.

How close is Winston getting to them, and how is he going to explore?

Nothing happens here, except perhaps some ogling by a Creepy Eyed Squirrel.

When he fails to see any sign of the assassin near the river, Michalson turns around and heads for the Riftline, where he hopes to meet up with Winston, and also that the scientist had better luck than he did.

"Awww." Not only was he missing his lute, he was also getting dressed and talking about heading back to the inn.

"I guess so." Dejected, she gets to her feet too.

Hmmm...
Well that's not quite as high as I thought it was.

Winston and Magbot 2.0 will search through the forest's edge, traveling alongside the rail until they reach a dip spot. Wherein, they'll go right up under the thing and look around under the rail. If they find nothing, they'll cross to the other side and then continue searching along the forest's edge on that side, but keeping the same direction of travel. And repeating as necessary.

In other winds, in sort of a sidewinder path, crossing under and checking under the track each time there's a spot to do it.
