Default Map Drawer Needed!

So I'm not going to hold my breath or anything because I know I'm asking for a handout, but I'm going to run a pirate-themed game soon set in a Pirates of the Carribean-like world: imperialism, wooden ships, lots of islands, etc. Only problem is, I don't have the skillz to make an appropriate campaign map.

Things I need:

Islands, bays, coves, caves, etc. Use your imagination!

Centers of industrial production

Centers of agricultural production

Centers of other raw material production (preferably these are not on the same island normally so my players will have some booty to plunder)

A place for the half-orc slaves to be captured from (like early to mid 19th century earth, the slave trade is illegal but slavery is still a generally accepted practice. It'll be interesting to see what the players do, because they'll have a Letter of Marquis but they can turn a much higher profit by selling the slaves)

Thanks!

You could just use a real-world map and photoshop.

I play primarily 3.5 D&D. Most of my advice will be based off of this. If my advice doesn't apply, specify a version in your post.

If you have Photoshop, you could try taking a look at Zombie Nirvana Games' Fantasy Cartography With Adobe Photoshop videos, namely this one.

It shows you how to easily throw a randomized island map together, how to edit it, and finally make it look presentable.

I never ended up putting it to use myself, but it taught me a few things. Just don't let the long-winded perky introductions get to you.

You're putting way too much effort and an insufficient amount of creative laziness into this OP.
  1. Grab the Pirates of the Caribbean as your Spanish Main/Grand Line area.
  2. Tack the Elder Scrolls: Redguard map to the right of it as the mainland.
  3. Tack an old map of SE Asia to the left of it as The New World
  4. Add cities and whatnot to taste.
  5. Game, and don't sweat the small stuff. If the players whine about inconsistent transit times say "currents and contrary winds".

(No "??? Profit" guff. SRSBZNZ)

I tend to keep my maps in the top drawer, under my socks and undies. That way, when ninjas ransack my house, they won't want to look in there and the treasure will be safe.
